  1. Just over an hour left of sign-ups. For the sake of everyone's enjoyment, I may be making some minor modifications to peoples rules to get them to work as I'd rather not have people feel left out. No promises though.
  2. @Arinian Your Blood Mage role is super complicated and kind of makes my head hurt so I'm gonna veto it. For what it's worth, your rule about roleclaiming is way more interesting than you give it credit for. @Lemonelon Just so you know, there isn't yet a limit on the actions you can take at any given time, so your rule wouldn't do anything (which is a shame since it's really cool) @Darkness Ascendant I've just removed the Baker bit @Drake Marshall @Grumpy Dula You still don't have character names @DroughtBringer @Bartimaeus You still don't have rules. And there's now less than 24 hours left to get all your rules and amendments in (if you haven't got a character name I'll let you get one though), so get to work! Everyone excited?
  3. @Clanky Your rule has multiple complex roles and so has been vetoed. @Darkness Ascendant You better pick a max role because storms be damned I'm not doing it. Also I would revise the Baker's death mechanic if I were you, it's a little overly fatal. @DroughtBringer @Bartimaeus You currently do not have rules in place. @Ecthelion III @Drake Marshall @Grumpy Dula You do not currently have character names. That is all for this update.
  4. @Straw Given Stink's vetoed your rule, what are you going to have as your rule? @Hemalurgic_Headshot We've decided to veto your whole alternative realm rule because it's so complicated. Same applies to you as did to Straw. @little wilson Do the Agents of Chaos have a win con or any abilities or is it just a title? When do they find out who each other are? Before the game or on turn one? @Orlok Tsubodai How will the voting for rules work? @Flash Could you summarise what the current iteration of your voting rules are please, after all the modifications? @Bart Your rule does nothing. "something weird" is too vague. Vetoing it for this reason; see Straw's instructions. @DroughtBringer The Adonalsium role is way too overpowered and overcomplicated. We're vetoing it. @Drake Marshall See Wilson's comment about the GMs creating things. Unless you specify faction actions, they're probably not going to be made. @Elithanathile Does "The adopted child does not have to agree to this." mean that the child can stop the adoption from happening or that they have no choice? @Aonar Faileas Would it be okay if we changed "everyone" to "a new player each cycle" or something in your rule? That would make it much simpler and more fun. @Bort Your rule is confusing me. What does creating a world do? How can it be targeted? How could it have a negative effect? What does "(invested)" mean? @Darkness Ascendant You haven't proposed a rule @Ecthelion III @Elenion @Drake Marshall None of your characters have names. Also, we're going to have a 24-hour period between the end of sign ups and the beginning of the game so that we can figure out the state of the rules. Also, without Straw's rule, the only faction is the Agents of Chaos and there are still no win conditions.
  5. If anyone has any doubts about whether or not their rule is going to be vetoed or not, please PM me, Stink and Alv and we can talk it over. Since the game hasn't started yet, you can amend your rule at any time you want (or completely change it). Why thank you
  6. A single rule. If you're making a rule about roles, you can include the details of the role in it (in fact, you have to, else they just won't be fleshed out) No Random Number Generator

  8. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth ~ Genesis 1:1 There is nothing. Yet. The worlds are unwrought and investiture flies free, unbound to any form. It cannot last. In a world of raw power, a whim is as that of a god's greatest command. The rules are yet to be written, and so they are written by your hand. Think carefully, for a merest wish could bring the end spiralling in. And who knows what lies in Adonalsium's mind. The Cosmere is unformed, travellers. However you came to be here, know that. For the time being, treat "here" as meaningless. All that can be is yet to come. This game is a strange one. It is chaotic, unless you choose it not to be. It is unstructured, unless you choose it not to be. There are no rules. Yet. When you sign up, we're going to need two things from you in addition to your character's name. First, a vote: would you rather a single 72-hour cycle, or would you rather a 48-hour day and a 24-hour night. Second, a rule. Choose whatever you wish and it shall become truth. Every player can choose a rule and it shall be introduced to the game. It can be anything at all. There are two limitations to this, however. First, the GMs, myself and @STINK, reserve the right to veto any rule we deem unfit. Second, any conflicting rules shall be pitted against each other, with RNG determining which one is put into play. Though you may choose whatever, I have a couple recommendations: As of yet, there's no teams, no lynch and no win conditions. Keep that in mind. If no one chooses to change the way rules are decided, the same process will be carried out next turn, and the turn after, until someone gets sick of it and decides they want rules to be decided differently. Good luck. Have fun. Oh and rollovers will be at 20:00 BST which is 14:00 CST and you can figure it out for your own timezone. Following the close of Signups, there shall be a 24 hour period for Stink and I to sort out all the rules. Signups shall close on: Quick Links:
  9. Sheep’s GM Thoughts Roles So, in the game we had three Cs. Unfortunately, only one of the Cs ever actually used any actions (one of the others was lynched before they could do anything and the other went inactive because of some unfortunate IRL circumstances). The C role looked, to me, like one of the most interesting rules due to how it could change up the structure of the information network and Mage definitely demonstrated this, much to the confusion of many people. I saw a lot of people confused due to getting PMs out of nowhere due to Mage’s actions, so imagine if there were three people actively doing that. It would have been fantastic! I was also excited to see what the elims would do with the C role as it essentially allowed them to gain extra PMs without using their faction ability, the risk of course being that they could accidentally knock out one of their existing PMs, which wouldn’t be good. In hindsight though, this may have been a little overpowered. Something to think about. The Contacts role was perhaps the most basic role we had in the game, but it definitely provided some very interesting discussion. It was a shame that Ecth’s WiFi went down and he died to the filter (more on that later) but Lopen and Bard still managed to do some interesting things. Something to note before discussing that is that before the game started at least two players raised with me the issue of verifying whether a person was a Contacts or using the DA ability. Both claimed that it would be easy to test this by having the Contacts create a PM between two players that the tester trusted. This test was proposed several times throughout the game, however funnily enough, neither Bard nor Lopen ever actually did it (actually, Bard might have done it at some point towards the end, but if he did, I missed that). What they did do, though, was build up their connections a lot. Throughout the game, Lopen, Bard and Mage (the active C) were the players with the most PMs and thus were most central to the communications of the village. I believe someone at some point expressed concern over this role being overpowered, but I believe the way it was used, and the way it would be used in any other game, wasn’t so. It definitely added to the game. We only had one Bureaucrat playing, which was Daniyah. I didn’t really know how many Bureaucrats or Hackers to put in, so I only ended up putting a single Bureaucrat game, however Dani used the ability to excellent effect. Towards the end, Dani and a few other players had the situation set up such that they would lynch Aman and block one of Drake’s PMs. If Drake hadn’t been so unfortunately lynched, this would have been the only thing stopping him from winning that cycle, yet with Dani’s usage of the Bureaucrat, it was impossible for him to pull that off. With that in mind, I feel like having any more Bureaucrats would have been somewhat overpowered, as the possibilities for screwing people over were very high. In addition, with two Bureaucrats it becomes possible for a person’s PMs to be completely shut off, and that’s just no fun at all. Regarding Hackers, I’ll admit that I regret having it as a role. It was too much work for me to handle when coming back from school exhausted as hell (due to my bad sleeping habits as anyone in the Discord can attest to) and so I was incredibly lucky that the Hackers only spied on PMs without a lot of actual talking going on. I’m not actually sure how the results of spying affected the game (I’ll have to wait until I’m reading over the PMs again while copying them into a doc for y’all to find out), but it’s likely not going to be included in the revised rules, simply due to workload. Overall, excluding the Hackers, I was quite pleased with the role distribution. I think it worked out quite well. PMs PMs were confusing. They were also the central mechanic of this game, so whether or not they worked well is incredibly important. First, the rule that everyone must have at least two PMs. I came up with that maybe halfway into Cycle 2 because I realised that the C role was going to leave lots of people with only one PM, which would mean they’d be greatly restricted in play and that wouldn’t be very fun for anyone. This role made the actions of the C much more interesting, however I feel like the system was kind of messy and it felt ad lib, mostly because it was. It was a good fix for an apparent problem, but in future revisions, the rules are going to need to be rewritten to work around this. Second, the Primary PMs system. This was another thing that was added to fix up the way the C would have ruined the fun for some unlucky people. I wanted it so that only if a Primary PM was cut off a new one would be made, since if they had other PMs then those PMs could just become Primary PMs. This idea was dumb. They didn’t really need to exist and they simply made the system confusing, since I’m pretty sure I screwed up in using them anyway. They’re not going to exist in the next revision. Third, PM distribution. One thing that shocked Aman is that I put all the elims in the a line with each other. This was a really last minute decision, because I realised that in order to ensure a good pace for the game, I couldn’t allow the Double Agents to start out with too many PMs to non-Double Agents as that would give them far too big an advantage. They were initially going to start with six, that is, two each. I then changed that so that two of them would be a line, giving them four starting ones. Yet we started with 16 players, three of which were DAs, which meant that only 9 people. Supposing a lynch every cycle and the DA using their ability, which I assumed they would, that gave us four to five cycles. That’s not an unreasonably short game, however I was hoping for something a little longer, so I reduced their PM count to two, with Joe right in the middle of Drake and Drought. The game took about eight cycles now, but considering that Drought went inactive and the DA didn’t use their ability at all, it could have gone a lot quicker. I also felt somewhat sorry for Joe since he wasn’t able to communicate with anyone he wasn’t already communicating with in the Elim doc (though he did use that to his advantage for some nice trolling) however Magestar managed to save me from that one when he directed one of Joe’s PMs to himself first cycle. I’m not going to comment on how I plan to do it next time, because spoilers, but it will be different. Other than that though, I think the RNG PM assignment system worked out quite well. There weren’t any instances of too many experienced players being bunched up together, which was nice, and we got a good amount of discussion. (DesmondxYiferien < this was Doc (oi) ) I was planning on putting these out ages ago and then I never finished them, so have the unfinished ones, a month and a week too late.
  10. It's a communist symbol. The joke was that your defense of indentured servitude is a common argument against employment in socialist thought.
  11. It is extremely hard for me not to post a sickle and hammer right now.
  12. The concept of this game really intrigued me, which is why I signed up, against my own best judgement. I thought I could dedicate the time to it and dedicate myself to it. But I can't. I'm dropping out the game. I'm also not going to be playing any more SE games anymore. Maybe at some point I'll change my mind, but for now, I don't think I'm suited to it. Thanks for the fun, guys.
