IIRC atium gives you limited shardic future sight and the ability to actually comprehend it. When Elend duralumin burned atium he got full shardic sight and saw Preservations plan.

Just soulcast its suroundings into antimatter, you will probably take out a good part of the planet but who cares . Also, wouldn't all the different types of investure interfere with each other and make it blow up in the creator's face?

Roshar's form is based upon the Julia set, watch the video at the top of the page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_set P.S. This was also the easter egg hidden in the map, they found it out in this thread: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6912-hidden-things-in-map-of-roshar/ Peter confirmed it here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6912-hidden-things-in-map-of-roshar/?p=127526

Nice, but there is one problem, the ancient fabrials are the ones that mimic the behaviour of the surges, such as the transportation fabrial or the soulcasters, which use the transportation surge and the transformation surge respectively. According to your theory this would mean that the old fabrials also used spren and according to our current knowledge the new fabrials use spren too, so how does this work?

Then how does aluminium stop pewterarms and bloodmakers from healing the spot that has aluminium in it?

spoilers Gavilar's Black Sphere Identity
kenod replied to Drakonstrong's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Wasn't Odium's colour red? I believe that there was an old stormlight thread about this too, but there they believed it came from Cultivation. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/52234-gavilars-black-sphere-and-its-content/ Also, in that thread the argument was raised that black didn't seem like a colour for cultivation, but the color of fertile earth is black, something that is in line with Cultivation.- 44 replies

IIRC atium and lerasium are normal metals infused with investure, the investure overwrote the spiritual aspects of the metal, giving it special abilities. Investure is energy, matter is energy too, just in a different form, as Voidus explained, e=mc^2 shows this.
-
Couldn't he also just tap it? Tapping would give the ability to use it all in one go, burning it seems like it would just give the same rate of investure as he would get when burning the normal metal. Explanation: Burning a metalmind gives you the same investure as you stored in it but with Preservation's power as the source, storing allomantic abilities stores the investure you get when burning metal IIRC, so basically when you burn it you are getting Preservation's power, just like when burning the original metal.
-
Not sure about how the feruchemical part works but IIRC, storing allomantic abilities in a nicrosil mind just stores the investure you get when burning a metal, it doesn't give you the ability to burn.

Just nitpicking but damnation is a Rosharian curse. Do you say it as Rosharian by the way?

Posting BoM/ Secret History spoilers in the main board

So, shouldn't the SoS sub-forum be removed by now? -
I don't think you can create matter out of nothing, one gram of matter would require the same amount of energy as a nuke and I don't think the dor is that powerful. Perhaps it transforms a object into wood or water, or manipulates existing sources.

Everybody is talking about why Szeth wouldn't attract a highspren but we need to remember that if the spren want people want people that uphold the law they probably want to do this themself too. While some types of spren sended people to bond humans again it is possible that highspren have a law against this, so it is possible that haven't actually sent anybody (yet).

Aren't there other female shards? According to the coppermind Edgli (Endowment) and Aona (Devotion) were both female. Although, Aona is dead and Edgli's status is unknown.
-
Not explicitly stated, but I think Aon Rao can control investure, seeing that it is capable of focusing and amplifying the dor.
-
Also, the arena needs to be Arelon for Raoden to do anything, just going to Teod already weakened him quite a bit. Raoden also has almost zero fighting ability with aons, he can use them to fight but most other characters either have a lot of experience or a magic system more orientated toward fighting, or both.

That could mean that the current shades are basically like spren, they somehow came more into the physical realm, that way losing their intelligence.

It does make sense, the reason a balloon feels hard is because all the air is compressed inside of it. Air is air because the atoms have way more room then in a solid object, so if air got compressed it will first become liquid and then solid but you would need a lot of air. According to Wikipedia one cubic meter of air at sea level with a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius weights 1.225 Kilogram. Most rocks would probably weigh more then a ton per cubic meter (not sure if the rock was crem and if crem is lighter then seawater). This means you would probably get more than a thousand times as much air pressure. Result, explosion. Probably the only reason they where not blown away is that smoke is heavier than air which means the pressure was lower.

Thanks, I didn't know those WoBs

they wouldn't need to leave the cognitive realm I think, because soulcasters need to go to the cognitive realm to soulcast. This means that they probably won't die. It also means you just invented something better then shardblades.

I'm not sure everybody here has read The Dresden Files or The Codex Alera. Even if they have they may not have looked into the writer himself (like me). Also, where was this revealed?

I would rather have a normal computer. I haven't used the Xbox One, but I'm not sure you can run normal software on it, or install Linux.

According to the Coppermind aging already slows at lower levels then the fifth heightening, the first heightening alone is good for another decade. The fifth heightening is required for true agelessness but Awakeners already approach it before that. It is even possible that the shape shifting of the Returned is based on something entirely different.

A second thing to consider is that hemalurgy doesn't just have the ability to steal powers, but also to mutate other creatures. I have a theory that this could have even been Ruins original use, or at least an intended side effect to make sure it can also stand on its own.
