  1. Kumiko saw the claws flash towards her. She tried to move around them, lighten the blow, but it didn't matter. One claw cut straight through her stomach, and another took of her right leg. She screamed in pain as the impact threw her away towards a distant building. Desperately she tried to focus, activate her power. Just before she hit the building shining red and gold feathers started growing from her arms and hair. She hit the side of the building with a sickening crunch, her spine breaking, her skull cracking. What was left of her organs got flattened. Slowly she tumbled down towards the ground. But as she fell a faint light started shining from her body. A faint flame flickered around her, and slowly her wounds started healing. The light shone brighter and brighter, a powerful golden color, and a massive flame burst alight around her. Kumiko screamed. Defiance, pain, victory. A wave of flame spread out from her as she landed on the ground, destroying the street around her. The fragments paused in the air, then launched towards the Phoenix. Slowly, Kumiko stood up, her wounds healed.
  2. Kumiko looked at the Phoenix hanging in the air, and frowned. Why wasn't it attacking? It must be thinking, she decided. That was an issue. An enemy who was blindly attacking was easier to deal with than one who had readied themselves. She looked up, and launched herself into the sky, diving straight at the neck of the Phoenix, abandoning all thought of self-preservation. It didn't matter how much damage the Phoenix did to her, as long as it didn't kill her immediately. A single hit, that would be all she needed. @Voidus
  3. Kumiko watched the flames spew forth from the Phoenix, swallowing her foxfire. She flew upwards, darting past the Phoenix. She felt her bones aching, and started having trouble focussing. Too much, she thought. She darted around the Phoenix, trying to buy time, shooting small balls of foxfire to try and distract it while she tried to focus. She selected a different form, creating the necessary histories and folklore. She combined them, creating a new form, one that used less power, one that was more adapt at dealing with this opponent. Suddenly she dropped out of the sky, her old form vanishing. As she fell a new form appeared, dark red scales formed patterns on her skin, and her clothing changed into a tight outfit made of red leather. Salamander, she thought. She looked down at the ground that was rapidly coming closer and focussed. A small flame flickered in front of her, and then she suddenly blazed with fire herself. At the same time the heat from the Phoenix stopped bothering her. Fire shot downwards from her hands, launching her back up into the air, back towards the Phoenix. @Voidus
  4. Kumiko watched the Phoenix try to get above her, while a second phoenix hovered in the distance, this one pitch-black. She started to struggle to keep up the humming, her body hurting from the strain of keeping up the wind, the heat burning at her skin. As the Phoenix dropped down at her she switched to the second form she had prepared. Her previous form dissappeared, and nine white fox tails appeared instead. Her hair turned white as well, and her ears turned into those of a fox. Her clothing changed too, forming something resembling a shrine maiden's outfit, and the amulet on her necklace changed into a small, jewel-like ball. Kitsune, she thought. Sparks of lightning started dancing between her tails, and she flew out of the way of the incoming Phoenix, grabbing Aln on the way out. Five large balls of purple flame appeared around her, sparks of lightning crackling between them. Landing on the roof of a nearby building she dropped of Aln, then took to the skies again, rushing towards the Phoenix. Throwing her arms forwards the balls of flame launched towards the Phoenix, turning and twisting in the air, following the Phoenix as it flew. Suddenly, she slowed, coughing, pain flaring up from her ribs. She tasted blood in her mouth. The strain from the forms were slowly getting to her. Her face grew determined. She could feel the Alleystorm approaching, somewhat relieving the strain. Just a bit longer, she thought.
  5. Kumiko thought about the question. What was she planning to do? Defend the building? Escape? Fight the Phoenix? She sighed, and shook her head. Suddenly, a loud noise shook her out of her thoughts. She looked at the barrier and saw that more flames had appeared, in a different color this time. Something seemed ... wrong about them. Seeing cracks appear she got ready. "I suggest you get going," she said to the woman behind her, trying to sound calm. "I think your five seconds just started." Kumiko closed her eyes, focusing. Mentally she traced through the forms she had accumulated, and selected two of them, saving a third for later. At the same time she constructed the necessary histories, legends and stories. She felt her heart beating in her throat. It had been a long time since she had last done this, and she hadn't practiced it as much as she should have. Even then, the consequences would likely be ... problematic. She took a deep breath, opening her eyes, and watched the barrier break. In her mind, she combined the forms and the knowledge, and applied the resulting form to herself. Falcon feathers started growing from her hair and arms, while her tail changed into that of a horse. Her clothing changed as well, growing more elaborate, turning white lined with gold. She stretched out her arms and smiled despite the strain the form placed on her. Hippogriff. she thought. Silently she watched the flames erupt from the Phoenix, saw it rushing towards the building. She started humming a song, right foot tapping along with the beat. At that moment a storm of wind exploded from her body, blasting towards the Phoenix, pushing against it, trying to drive it back, block the flames. A shock-wave blasted outwards, tearing at the roof of the building.
  6. Kumiko turned around, annoyed at the interruption. She needed to prepare, and someone came to talk to her? A scholar non the less, someone who looked like she couldn't even fight. Kumiko sighed. Not even in the DA people did things this reckless... Most of the time. She looked at the woman. "That's supposed to be a phoenix," she said, sounding annoyed. "It's coming to destroy this building, and is currently only held back by the barrier, which is starting to fail. When it does everybody left in the building will probably die. Which of course begs the question of why you're currently on the roof, the place where it's the hardest to escape with any special abilities."
  7. Kumiko looked at the mess going on among the others in the building and shrugged. That should be enough, she thought. She ran back to the stairs, and went back to the roof and looked around for the Phoenix. In her mind she started going over the plan one more time.
  8. Wait, TUBA has a Covert operations/PR department? ... I guess my knowledge of those two does show the validity in those page counts.
  9. Kumiko studied the Phoenix, and a thought suddenly popped up in her mind. Switching to Bat, she let out a scream, and smiled when she heard it bounce back against the barrier. She had no clue for how long it would hold out, but it should buy at least some time, perhaps enough for the alleystorm to arrive. She found herself looking downwards, wondering about the other people in the building, if they knew what was coming. She could probably warn them, but was it really necessary? Besides, if she left for downstairs she might miss her chance. Besides, who would care if they happened to die? Her mind went back to the memories the Phoenix had brought back, and her face clouded over. "Oh come on!" She yelled, and then switched to Cat, running to the stairs. Kumiko jumped down the stairs in a hurry, not even bothering to use the stairs themselves, kicking off the walls to change directions. She ran towards the room where the Ghostblood people were when she left., skidding to a halt in front of them. "We've got an issue," she said in a hurried tone. "Big flaming bird coming this way, something called the Phoenix? Something else seems to be coming as well, it looks like they're coming to this building. Barrier is still up, but I don't know how long it'll last." She took a couple of deep breaths, trying to calm down. "I suggest you leave now." @I think I am here., @Silva, @Sorana, @Ark's Boyfriend.
  10. We're discussing Era 4 plots, both big ones as well as smaller guild-related ones.
  11. KanMien found themselves lying on the ground, gasping for breath. Allomancy must have stopped, they thought. They tried to get up, but failed. They tapped some Zinc, and felt some semblance of focus returning to them. "Emotional allomancy," they muttered to Lita. "Soothing, probably the Phoenix. Though why can it... Right, Brass." They shook their head, slowly standing up again. "Got to warn Kumiko," they muttered. "Phoenix is coming." They grasped around, looking for their phone. Grabbing it, they called Kumiko. "Get out of there," they said. "Phoenix is coming to the building." "I know," Kumiko said, her breathing sounding labored. "I can deal with it," she said, trying to sound confident, but failing. "Kumiko..." KanMien said, sounding annoyed, but also concerned. They sighed. "Alright," they said. "I trust you on this one. Just ... make sure you come back alive, alright?" "Alright," she softly said, and then hung up. Back on the roof of the building Kumiko put away her phone, and looked at the Phoenix rushing at it, as well as the Alleystorm behind it. Slowly, a plan started forming in her head, and a smile appeared on her face. @ZincAboutIt
  12. Kumiko opened the door, stepping out on to the roof. She looked around, switching to Cat, and gazed into the distance, trying to spot whatever was making that sound. Seeing a spot of light in the distance, she moved closer to the edge, curious. Looking at it, she saw a bird, glowing with flames. She frowned, wondering where it had come from. She couldn't remember hearing about anything like this. Still, it didn't look like one of the creatures the Vortex had created. It had a ... beauty to it, something that the monsters roaming the streets lacked. At that moment, something slammed into her. Her emotions vanished, only fear remaining. Her breathing sped up, memories flashing before her, the crash, the hospital, the city full of Epics. She knelt down, grabbing the ground to stabilize herself. === KanMien walked out of the alley and looked up at the building. They felt themselves wondering how Kumiko was doing, and shook their head. Focus on the current task first, they thought. Suddenly they noticed a strange warmth and frowned, looking around. They saw Voidus talk with Mac and the Stranger, probably discussing the warmth as well. ...Or not, they thought when they heard them say something about rioting. Looking around, they saw something in the distance, a large flaming bird. They frowned, it seemed familiar for some reason... Their eyes snapped open when they found it in KoTiel's memories. The Phoenix. KoTiel hadn't seen it themselves either, but they had heard the stories. "Harmony," they muttered. They grabbed their phone. They needed to warn Kumiko, tell her to get out of the building, flee as quickly as possible. However, before they could call her something slammed into them. They grabbed their head and fell to their knees, phone tumbling out of their hands. They could feel it, the mass of emotional allomancy, they could feel it grinding against their mind. Their breathing sped up, and they laid down on the ground, their only thought on trying to outlast the Soothing.
  13. As a random suggestion, maybe Edgedancer will work? The idea of wanting to remember those he killed fits with it to me.
  14. True, but even if he's still learning about them he'd still be part of a specific order. And even if we haven't seen that many oaths we've still seen a lot of examples of different surges. Given that he's still figuring things out you could say he's still at the first oath, since that's the same for every order. Other than that, we generally just make oaths up in the RP, though they do tend to be along the lines of the philosophy/description of the order in question. Edit: Also, we've seen more that just Kaladin and Szeth. We also know the Lightweavers, Edgedancers and the second oath of the Bondsmiths.
  15. Which order? Also, on which oath is he?
  16. Kumiko watched as the Vortex slowly shrunk, eventually fading into nothing. She tilted her head. Not sure if the higher-ups will like that, she thought. Vortex has been closed, she sent to KanMien. Apparently wrapping it in aluminium foil works? She shook her head, trying to figure out how that worked. While she was thinking she suddenly heard a faint sound. Focussing, she switched to Bat form, trying to get a better read on the noise. Focusing, she heard it again. It sounded like a bird, though she had no clue what kind of bird produced that particular sound. She left the room, and went for the stairs, looking for a way up to the roof. She wanted to see what kind of bird was creating the sound.
  17. So basically Morgase level? Can see weaves (if he had the training) and might light a candle on a very good day but that's the limit?
  18. True, but some of those ideas have already been posted in this thread (I think). It might be good to collect those in one place.
  19. Maybe it would be good to collect the different ideas here? It would be nice to be able to debate them, and see how they work together. I think at least two of the proposed plots would work well together, either sequentially or in parallel.
