  1. Obviously Kaladin just needs ask Syl how she feels about double-bladed lightsabers Shardsabers. (Yes I know that's not really dual wielding, but I'm not sure if a Spren can actually pull off two seperate swords) Actually, thinking about Star Wars now makes me want to see a Shardwhip.
  2. Yeah, I was thinking more of it being what they would have before the non-magic technology hits the point where they can pull off the internet. Alternatively, I suppose it could be used on a smaller scale as a sort of "private server" by a group that doesn't want to have their stuff on the actual internet.
  3. I've always wondered if when we get to more modern Scadrial there will be some kind of very primitive internet involving a very large coppermind, where people could store documents and other people would be able to pull them up and read them, then put them back, sort of like putting a web page on the internet (though obviously it would require everyone to actually physically go to wherever the coppermind was being kept and it would be really easy for the "websites" to get corrupted or lost if people don't transfer the whole thing back or keep it for themselves).
  4. This seems to fit with an idea that I've been thinking about for a little while, the idea that all the Cosmere magic relies on you being Connected to a Shard or something else in the Cognitive Realm (I think the Shardholders hang around in the cognitive realm mostly? That's the impression SH gave me at least.). Spren are the obvious Connection on Roshar, we know now that at least some of the Selish magic requires you to be Connected to certain places (maybe the ones that have the strongest reflections in the cognitive realm or have large chunks of the Dor or something?), and we know that Connection has at least some effects in Scadrial because of (Secret History spoilers) Still trying to figure out exactly how some of it would work but this was some nice info, good find.
  5. For the record I suggested Hoid=Felt as a joke thinking it was too crazy to be real, but apparently that was the exact right amount of crazy for this forum? Anyway, Hoid was hanging out with the Terris refugees during Well of Ascension (originally because he didn't know where the Well was, that's been retconned but I don't remember to what), and in Fadrex City during Hero of Ages. Felt was definitely hanging around in Luthadel during Well of Ascension though, so he can't be Hoid. .
  6. To my surprise they actually do in the Hero of Ages annotations, though nothing really that seems to be any obvious info on him being a worldhopper: Incidentally, I found a line referencing Stormlight Archives in the same annotation, which is probably not related to Felt, but I found it amusing nonetheless:
  7. I'm pretty sure Tensoon was specifically mentioned by name in The Final Empire when Elend is talking to Straff, or at the very least the annotations mention that it's Tensoon in that scene.
  8. I don't think you're going far enough in your tin-foil hatting, when the answer is so obvious: Hoid = Felt. Both are worldhoppers. Both gave important information to people in the Mistborn books. As you've noted, both have hawkish features. As far as I know they've never been seen in the same room together (though I haven't actually checked that one) How did we not notice this before? i'm so sorry
  9. Interesting! The rampant speculation part of me is now imagining Book 3 having Hoid bonded to the Skaze from the Elantris epilogue.
  10. For the record, WoB says that Harmony changed how Snapping works, which could have theoretically included something to stop Mistborn from happening.
  11. The Stick is actually a Splinter of Odium. Proof: On Brandon's website there's a deleted Stick interlude that gives no worldbuilding or plot info, obviously serving to introduce us to a character who would become important later. It was removed because he decided it was giving away too much. Odium and Stick both oppose the Knights Radiant, and I doubt either of them are able to be soulcasted into anything (we don't have confirmation for Odium not being soulcastable however- perhaps Odium is actually a Splinter of Stick?) Odium refuses to take other shards because it would corrupt his pure hatred. Stick refuses to become fire because it would corrupt his pure Stick-ness. tl;dr The stick is the greatest villain the Cosmere has even known, Odium may be his splinter, and I strongly suspect Stormlight 6-10 and possibly Space Mistborn will deal with his rise to power and the conflict against him.
  12. So from what I can tell from the Coppermind (haven't read WoK in a while), Szeth took the sphere and hid it in Jah Keved. In WoR Taravangian becomes king of Jah Keved. The long string of numbers in the Diagram ("Pattern 15") translates to "Hold the secret that broke the Knights Radiant. You may need it to destroy the new Orders when they return." Any chance these might be connected? Or have I just been staring at the Diagram for too long?
  13. I believe this is the WoB we're talking about? Seems to me it might not be as simple as looking through the epigraphs, and also it's the end to the whole series, not SA5. Here's a death rattle that isn't actually in the epigraphs (it's from when one of the Bridge 4 guys died), and though it seems like a long shot, it might relate to the same things that are controlling the Set in BoM, the red-eyed creatures who decide Scadrial is too dangerous and that they need to destroy it. Overall though, since this is the end to the whole series we're trying to figure out here I think it's going to be the kind of thing that isn't that obvious until we're a few more books in. Not unguessable before it happens, but probably will be a lot easier once we hit the SA5 area.
  14. Is there a place where we can see that? I'm just curious on the exact wording, especially since I thought black was Ruin's color.
  15. Oh. That's what I get for not reading things; I just assumed the talk of "cosmere sea" in other posts was a metaphor for the cognitive realm. The OP even mentioned no shards and I completely blanked on that too. Oops. In that case, Roshar is still at war with themselves, Nalthis and Sel both seem to be fairly close to the same situation, the TLR's just trying to preserve order until the Well's power comes back (although no shards and no heavily invested beings makes me unsure what to do with the Final Empire really), Threnody is likely somewhat busy trying to civilize Hell, and First of the Sun seems pretty isolationist (although that might just be Dusk, now that I think about it). Who stated this war again? I blame Taldain, they must have gotten pissed that they somehow live on a desert in the middle of the ocean and decided to conquer everyone.
  16. Even without the Everstorm Roshar might still be screwed since (based on what I understand of the Shadesmar map, which might not be that accurate) they are more or less in the middle of all the other worlds in the Cognitive Realm, so lots of people would probably be going after them to get easier transport to other Shardworlds (unless it's not really an issue to walk around them? Not quite clear on how it all works). On that note, Sel's cognitive realm has been said to be extremely dangerous, which would probably help on defense unless we move forward to space faring times or there's ways to worldhop without going through the cognitive realm. Sazed trying to block out everyone else (mostly the red force in BoM) from Scadrial might similarly boost their defenses, unless Odium finds a way to use the war to his advantage and take him out. Sel, maybe Roshar (we don't know enough about Cultivation yet), Threnody, and First of the Sun don't have the advantage of shardholders that care about them that Nalthis and Scadrial have, so that could make a big difference if shardholders start getting involved. Unless we're ignoring shardholders for being too invested.
  17. This might also explain why the Parshendi freaked out and killed Gavilar, they thought he was going to release Odium into the world or something. It's been a while since I've read either Stormlight book so I can't really put more thought into this.
  18. Personally I'd like Surgebinding just because it comes with an awesome fairy spren companion.
  19. If the Threnodites found out a way to direct the Shades in battle (which may or may not be what the "ghost gun" in the BoM broadsheet was), I feel like they could do pretty well. At the very least they've got a fairly defensible area as soon as word gets out that when you kill someone in their lands a whole bunch of shades come after you, especially since silver doesn't seem to show up much outside of Threnody (or maybe I just made that one up in my head, but the only mention of silver I can think of is it being very expensive in BoM, and Scadrial has a lot of metal) and they probably wouldn't be able to figure that part out anyway. Though now that I bring them up I remembered the Elantrian crew hanging around in the Cognitive Realm in SH having some sort of defense against the Threnodites, so this might go back to a victory for Sel, since it's possible they've had scouts/cults/whatever those guys were spying on all the other shardworlds, making the only ones prepared for the sudden war (or at least by far the most prepared).
  20. Is gold really that expensive in Mistborn? Can't remember if it's been mentioned anywhere, the only metals I remember being said to be super expensive were silver and aluminum. Then again if it was said to be expensive I probably just tuned it out because that's normal for our world.
  21. Though depending on how you do it (and assuming that the more of the lerasium alloy you swallow the more power you get) you'll either have some lerasium left over or be the most powerful Aluminum Gnat ever known... which is still pretty useless, unless you worldhop a lot I guess.
  22. Well this sounds vaguely like the Avengers, which means we must put together a team of people who hate each other (that's how that movie worked, right? Never actually watched it). Therefore... Kelsier (Hates Hoid) Hoid (Hates Kelsier) Vasher (he seems like he'd not get along that well with others) Frost (to get pissed at everyone for intervening in things) Galladon (Needed an Elantrian on the team, also he's probably pretty mad at Hoid for evading him so long in WoK) Jasnah (I seem to remember her being pretty annoyed with Hoid in WoR) Sounds like a good team to me, covers every major shardworld except Taldain (Khriss doesn't hate anyone on the list enough), can't wait for the wacky hijinks to ensue. All we need is a Kandra for infiltration and to be the leader trying to get everyone to work together. I nominate TenSoon.
  23. I've always assumed that Hoid was friends with the shardholders before the Shattering (we know Tanavast bought him drinks once), so if he kept up any of those friendships post-Shattering he might've had a general idea of what Leras' grand plan was, and wanted TLR to die to make it happen (what with Vin ascending to beat Ruin and all that).
  24. I'm inclined to agree that there are only ever going to be 16 metals (outside godmetals and their alloys) because of a certain line in Secret History where Also it seems to me like the alphabet thing might be the reverse of your theory- letters were just assigned to certain metals, like how Greek letters have been assigned to certain mathematical constants (and newly discovered metals were just assigned letters that fit the tradition)
  25. I remember reading that too, but I also think he's said that those "religious purposes" were Ruin messing with the religion so he'd be able to influence any potential Hero of Ages... so I wouldn't really say that's much different from how he uses them in the trilogy. Edit: Found it, #30 here.
