Maybe the eyes give them more sensitivity so they can see metal much better?

Well, not sure I buy into that theory, but get an upvote anyway!! Certainly some possibilities. Hmm, if we has heavily invested, then he might be easier to shatter as well.

In the 10th anniversary edition of Elantris, we see Hoid use the shard pool. And it didn't seem like he had to prepare much, unless he did all his preparations ahead of time. Maybe there are ways to navigate through the storm if you know the path/what to look for (like whirpools/deadly rocks when it comes to ships -- pretty common trope).

And that adds nothing to the conversation and may distract others from the question I asked based on what we do know, including WoBs. Anyone with something constructive want to chime in on my question/theory?

theory An Possible Explanation for Taravangian's Diagram
Argel replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Stormlight Archive
Why not mix the theories? The Diagram is of Cultivation, but Mr. T is being influenced to use it in ways that benefit Odium. No need to waste time tampering with the Diagram when you have putty, err, I mean, Mr. T to work with.... The Diagram could also be pure/correct but the deciphering could be where the corruption was introduced. I tend to favor "influenced by Odium after the fact" since it's cleaner (e.g. no "Cultivation and Odium were influencing him at the same time problems). Edit: Plus, that line about the death rattles suggests The Diagram may be accurate but Mr. T's interpretation of it is off. Clue from Brandon? -
I thought the Listeners predate Odium? Regardless, there's a WoB somehwere about there being a difference between "being of" and "being influenced by", meaning that when the influence is not there they can act on their own agendas. I think the discussion was more about Ruin and Kandras, but it applies here as well -- in fact, we know the Parshendi where so concerned about Gavilar bringing their gods back that they had him assassinated. Not exactly in Odium's interests.... Anyway, it seems clear from the PoV's, etc. that so far only Stormform asserts itself over their will. And Brandon has RAFO'd if the herlads are all from Roshar. If they can be worldhoppers, then what requires them to be human specifically? And we know Listeners and Humans are compatible enough to have children (e.g. Shallan's red hair, Herdazians all trace back to the races intermingling). I don't think we know anything that would absolutely prevent it at this point and we have WoBs that suggest it's possible. I guess we'llhave to RAFO. Sigh.

The true Master of the Oathstone
Argel replied to Assassin in Burgundy's topic in Stormlight Archive
He wasn't the only herald there, so maybe focus on why some of them were there. Not that we have any good answers there (good free food....). Jasnah catches some of them talking later on. Maybe they were just using it as a place to get together and talk. or maybe there are ties to some of the conspiracy stuff Gavilar and others were involved in. Also, considering there's a question as to their sanity.... -
And yet Odium is stuck on Braize, being invested in e.g. a planet limits where a shard can go, the intents can hamper what they can do, etc. They're so powerful they have to act through agents/splinters most of the time....

Considering that the metal/alloy determines the effect it might as well be a different magic system at that point.
-
Hmm, so we know Nightblood makes Investiture unavailable/unusable. And it sounds like that is a one way process. So that suggests more than that it just does not go back to the shard/Adonalsium. Could it be trapped in the Beyond? If none of the shards can interact with the Beyond then that could make sense.

Kandra are native to Scadrial, which was created by Ruin and Preservation, so they cannot be the third race native to Yolen. Do you have a source for that? I have seen it speculated on before but never confirmation. Are you trying to imply they are the ones from above? Some speculate that, but we also know Mistborn Era4 will be Sci-Fi/FTL, so that is considered the stronger candidate (also, the magic systems from Scadrial are very portable, moreso than every other one we have seen so far, which gives them another advantage).

I thought the WoB was more along the lines of it not being associated with a planet or maybe a planetary system. I don't think he confirmed it was floating in space -- it could be traveling, it could be physically in the CR (if a shard could really do that), or e.g. if not a planet, then it could hanging out in an asteroid field, oort cloud, it could be a moon (or a sun, I suppose), or if we want to get a little crazy, a nebula or a lot crazy a neutron star, and full on insanity a black hole.... And natural magic systems actually exist. We have some WoBs on that. Sixth of the Dust (or if not, Shadows for Silence) was intended to show one of those worlds. I'm thinking it was Sixth because I think Brandon has been cagey about SfS, e.g. saying there is no shard there now, leaving out if there was one there. Anyway, he's talked about it before and later on wrote Sixth to show us one of those worlds. I think that plus the ones from above were reasons to slip that short story it into the Cosmere and maybe draw more attention to Shadows Beneath, (that Writing Excuses book it was included in), which worked because I started reading Mary Robinette Kowal afterwards.

So... when will the Voidbringers conquer Urithiru?
Argel replied to Patrick Star's topic in Stormlight Archive
When was the WoB that we have already seen the ending? Post TWoK or post WoR? -
RAFO? I already read ch 88 and the rest of WoR. You might give that a try sometime....

Yeah, I was thinking the thrill was gone because it would have helped the enemy. On the other hand, they've edit: never been that far out on the shattered plains before, so it's hard to say. The Death Rattles appear to have a range.
-
Not hard to imagine given that the current target is November 2017. Easy to slip into 2018....

Who was great at windrunning but isn't anymore because he just lost the honor blade that gave him those powers?? Yeah, but let's consider what we know from the book: Prior to Brandon's George Lucas moment, we actually see Szeth die on the page, so we go into this chapter knowing he is dead. Post revision, it's implied because of how powerful the storm is and how high up he is. Not to mention he wanted Kaladin to kill him. Anyway, the reader goes into this chapter believing he is dead with no reason to suspect otherwise. The change Brandon makes is to Kaladin's behavior. In this chapter, Nalan -- the Herald of Justice -- confirms Szeth died and explains how and why he resurrected him. Said Herald gives Szeth Nightblood!! It's the last scene of the chapter. What we also know: Nightblood is the only invested object we currently know of that can reduce the amount of usable Investiture in the Cosmere. Vasher even kills his own wife to keep that method of Awakening a secret because he believes that knowledge is too dangerous. Szeth is getting his own SA book. It's in the first five, so either SA4 or SA5. Presumably that also means he will become a KR. The obvious interpretation is that the chapter title refers to Szeth, and so far no one has offered a credible reason to believe otherwise. It ties in to what just happened to Szeth and foreshadows his return. Szeth's section is short, but it ends the chapter, and that alone gives it more weight. And the we find out one of the heralds has ressurected Szeth and given him one of the most dangerous magical weapons we know of in the Cosmere. And we know Szeth is getting his own SA book, so he's one of the ten most important characters in the series.

We should mention that the shjort stories collection Arcanum Unbound is coming out this fall (IIRC), and will have a new short story in at about Lift (one off the SA characters). So there is something to look forward to this year.

So... when will the Voidbringers conquer Urithiru?
Argel replied to Patrick Star's topic in Stormlight Archive
Only one single pillar remained in that vision. I always thought it was so they had something to stand on in the vision, but it could be more symbolic, and a pillar represents Urithiru quite well. -
Theory: Last Chapter Stormlight Archive (Mistborn Spoilers)
Argel replied to zandi's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think we know it's not going to be centuries later though. Anyone know where Mistborn Era 3 is supposed to fall (e.g. after SA)? -
So, if Trell is Autonomy, is he piggy backing on the Trell from ancient Scadrial history or was the original concern Ruin and Preservation working together (i.e. the ancient Trell was also Autonomy)?
