Or missing to make it even worse.

I think Shallan's response may depend the official response. For example, of Adolin is pardoned, then she may stay with it for political reasons. If Jasnah returns that could be a factor, though Shallan has had a lot of growth since they last met. But if Adolin is pardoned and Jasnah encourages her to keep the engagement she might go along with it. I wonder what the Ghostbloods make of the engagement, if anything (they might encourage it for political reasons as well, especially since it would be Shallan marrying Adolin, not Veil). Yeah, I'm hard pressed to come with anything new that doesn't sound crazy. Edit: So, do the Skybreakers have pennance? Maybe Adolin ends up working for them as his punishment. I'm leaning towards him taking on dangerous missions for one or more reasons we have discussed. Seems to fit his character. I think we may have discussed this one, but I wonder if he may seek out Kaladin for advice. In the wild card department there is also Jasnah and Hoid/Wit if they show up in time. I don't think Jasnah will be too upset, especially if learns of Sadeas abandoning Dalinar. Here's something for consideration -- what if what Adolin did is permitted (or sort of permitted)? Sadeas could be considered to be speaking treason at that point. I guess he should have demanded a duel, but e.g. killing the king's Wit is permitted if not caught....

And if -- a big huge "if" -- Mraize is telling the truth, then Jasnah sent assassins after them first. That Jasnah is a KR may have nothing to do with it. They also go after Amaram, not the herald. Shallan's mother was horrified about her being a KR, so that seems to rule out the Sons of Honor and it seems like the Ghostbloods would be indifferent to considering it a plus. The Diagram doesn't exist yet, and Skybreakers seem like a stretch, though maybe that explains Helleran's connection to them. With that said, the Vorin religion is popualt in Jah Kaved, so her mother could have just been very religious.

Oathbringer Kaladin spoiler Also, Kaladin still has the slave brands, right? That could make things interesting...

I was thinking Edgi as well, since we don't see her in action, the magic system feels more alien for some reason and ditto for the Returned. Plus it doesn't feel like we will see her in action anytime soon. Ditto on Bavdin, but I have not read the White Sand prose, plus if he's Trell then less likely. In role-playing games there are a myriad of dragons with different breath types. In Dungeons and Dragons there is a frost/cold attack (white dragons), lightning (blues), acid (blacks), and corrosive gas (greens). Didn't Brandon read the Dragons of Pern novels early on? I have not read them, but that could be an obvious influence in addition to Dungeons and Dragons.

It could explain Mraize's line about why he should have figured out Shallan was Veil sooner as well.

I think she saw the Nightwatcher three years ago. Still works as a joke though (just for different reasons).

Yeah, and they are a lot less fun to read. I think something like SH is a good compromise.
-
That does ring a bell. Maybe that explains why Scadrial's magic systems seem so powerful -- Ruin and Preservation created the planet.

That was over 10,000 years ago. Even factoring in time dilation, he's not going to stay wracked in guilt to that level for that long. And at this point he may regret what Rayse has done since then more than the shattering.

He could be intentionally useless, such as deciding on a non-interventionist approach. Liars of Partinel Spoiler:

I wonder if we are getting caught up in semantics here. If all the possible intents were part of Adonalsium then the 16 we ended up with could be based on the 16 individuals. Then you are both right.

Brandon is probably keeping dragon form for Dragonsteel, so I doubt one will figure prominently in SA/Roshar. IIRC, there is a WoB that we have seen a dragon in human (or maybe humanoid) form. I don't think we have any hints as to who beyond that. Could be as obscure as the unidentifiable terriswoman in Warbreaker. So in the maybe too obvious department, Dominion and Devotion? D&D....

Uhh, lead is absorbed into the body, including making it into the bloodstream. I'm not aware of any metal that would remain in the stomach. The implication is Vin was burning metal stored in her body, not just her stomach. Considering how accurate Brandon has been with science I doubt he's just hand-waving this one.

The ramifications could be ll kinds of things though. If he lost the respect of his family including his father and Renarin then that could be worse than anything else we can think of for Adolin. Shallan's father was a rager so murdering Sadeas could be too much for her (of course, it could go the other way too). Elohkar is the king, and who knows how he might react, though it's hard to imagine it being favorable to Adolin. Exile is a real possibility. The amount of alcholo flowing amongst the Kohlins is excessive, especiually considering Elohkar so there's a possibility. I have a hard time imaging Adolin becoming an alcoholic just from the murder, but it could result from the fallout from the murder, such as being disowned by his father. Adolin could volunteer for (or be volunteered for) a suicide mission. I did not think that WoB singled Adolin out, so it's also possible the ramifications affect others (Sadeas wife comes to mind). This is a real tricky one though because of what is going on in the world. The ramifications could be Dalinar and the KRs find it harder to act because of politics, power plays, etc. as fallout from Sadeas murder. Side note: Many believe Nalan/Nale is acting on his own outside of the true Skybreakers but I do not believe that has been confirmed.

I think he was just playing a role. We do not even know if he can get drunk at this point magic, etc. because he has changed so much magiclly. And Kelsier is about as arrogant as they come, so not hard to imagine wailing on him. Kelsier is the one that chose to intervene and got what was coming to him. And that pool was a dangerious place for Hoid, so it's not like he wants to stick around. Beating up Kelsier gets him on his way faster. And based on Liars of Partinel, Hoid is not exactly a saint and he's a Jesk -- think bard and court jester -- so Wit fits in perfectly with that. And it's hard to fault him for making fun of idiots too caught up in petty squabbles to see the signs of imminent doom for Roshar, Sadeas being an obvious example. It's probably like a vacation for him. That and he does poke and prod the people that he feels he can help. He even says as much in a conversation with Dalinar about Renarin. If he's an alcoholic then it's recent because no alcholic could function as well as he does for so long. But we have no evidence to suggest he is. Like I said, he may not even be able to get drunk. For all he know, the perfume was part of an act, possibly even a cover for drinking metals. Sorry, but I think you are reading too much into things.

Not to mention it's a spin-off of the video games. Brandon is not going to bring someone else's intellectual property into the Cosmere.

(Warbreaker Spoilers) Conflict of Szeth and his New Sword
Argel replied to Radiant Returned's topic in Stormlight Archive
The danger in lying to yourself.... Szeth could be in a position though to believe that in hindsight he was evil back then, but not now. I think he's safe if he does better this time around. There's also the Nale manipulation factor that may keep him convinced enough that he's not evil to be safe. -
Before WoR came out, a lot of people though Hoid might have Nightblood. Obviously not and I think there was a WoB on that before WoR came out, but a lot of people are still curious to know if there is anything special about it. Though I'm not sure if we have even seen it drawn, so it could be a hilt + sheathe for all we know. Or have a wooden blade.... Anyway, the icons could indicate power level. Hard to imagine Hoid not on par with them. I like the "all form Yolen" theory as well. Feels like a long shot, then again, maybe not -- the Alethi do remind me of the human society we see in Liars of Partinel (medieval Europe style feudal society -- maybe pre medieval -- maybe a bit more Norse like).
-
@ShardDance, I would tell you to search the forums as this has been discussed a lot recently, but you can just wait for @maxal to chime in. Just be prepared to read a lot!
-
I always thought Taln speaking perfect Alethi was an indicator of the prejudices that have developed over the millenniums. Just like when Dalinar assumes something is wrong when he sees a leader with dark eyes in the visions. And there is no regrowth honor blade missing that we know of. Taravangian made that story up so that Szeth would still believe he was Truthless and not kill them (Taravangian and accomplices) on the spot. A lot of people seem to remember the "missing" honor blade but not the transparent lie. It's like we want to believe everything Taravangian says is true.

They are all ancient, powerful, and insane!! Though with that said (sort of in jest), it could be a hint about Hoid's sword.

(Warbreaker Spoilers) Conflict of Szeth and his New Sword
Argel replied to Radiant Returned's topic in Stormlight Archive
As I said, he started heading down that path, and delayed his mission slightly to pursue Adolin. It was a major shift in behavior, signaling more to come. Of course Kaladin came along instead, but it's pretty clear Szeth was close to breaking. Probably why Szeth decided to let Kaladin kill him (note: the different in the revised WoR is Kal doesn't follow through with killing him). We know Szeth is going to be SA4 or SA5, so I'm inclined to say that at this point people should post theories if they think he will not become a KR. I'm not really sure what to expect there -- some stuff may be in SA3 (and SA4 if Szeth is SA5), so I'm not sure what the big struggle will be. If we go with the Nale is crazy theory then there are a lot of opportunities there for Brandon to play with. I will be much more impressed with Brandon if Szeth does come to see his previous life's actions as ultimately evil and breaks from from Nale's control. Maybe even cleans house. Of course, we're not sure about Nale's state of mind, so.... -
IIRC, Hoid and Jasnah are one week away from the nearest town. Plenty of time for something to happen.... On a more serious note, it's possible Jasnah and Kaladin may not meet, or only briefly in SA3. He starts off on his way to Heathstone and we don't know how that will play out. And Dalinar wanted him to check on Kholinar as well. It's possible they will stay in touch via spanreed and thus never meet.
