Okay, I'm not going to go into whether you are right or wrong about this, but can I just say that going into a completely Sanderson obsessed sight and insulting him is a pretty bad idea? You remind me of my friend who started stating very conservative viewpoints while on a public bus in San Francisco. We actually had to get off the bus a few stops early because people were glaring at him so angrily.

If I remember correctly, the mists are Preservation's body, which I think is different enough from Stormlight that it wouldn't work.

My bad! I meant it was like burning bronze. The opposite of copper. It detects Aviar and bronze detects allomancy, so they are kind of similar that way.

He can't use the stormfather as a blade, but he can still use him for other stuff, right?

Well, if I were doing this (so basically you may want to ignore this) is talk about how he does his world building. That's among the coolest aspects of his writing, I think. Also, he discusses this all the time in Writing Excuses.

Idealistic Mistborn is a rather unusual name.

The bird doesn't bestow the gift, remember? It's the worm things that infect the birds. Maybe they are hydrophobic?

Their machine is a lot like a coppercloud, so it seems very likely that they are from scadrial, unless one of the surges does something like that. But since we know all their names and the surge names are fairly self explanatory, it seems unlikely.

I always thought their real names were symmetry, and they were made unsemetrical over time. Otherwise why would the Vorins love symmetry?
