  1. If you haven't already, you should read this fanfic by @Overlord Jebus (Oathbringer spoilers):
  2. 100% me. Also, an updated version of one of my old "Sanderfan speed dating" memes:
  3. Y'know, I used to find the car salesman memes not all that funny, but these Cosmere ones you guys have been posting are gold.
  4. I'm going to be out of Utah for about a week beginning on August 28, so it's unlikely I'll be able to make it to an August meeting. If the rest of y'all can make it, though, don't let my absence stop you from getting together. I'm looking forward to meeting you in person, @Steeldancer!
  5. It's one of my favorite movies too! I own the soundtrack, and I've still got my ticket stub from when I saw it in the theater way back in 2007. XD And yes, the pirates are great. Captain Shakespeare is so funny!
  6. Correct! Glad it made sense.
  7. I wrote a limerick about a movie. Anyone care to guess the movie title? Three witches were trying to find The heart of a star most divine. They cornered Yvaine, Attacked her in vain: She did what stars do best--they shine.
  8. You know you're a Sanderfan when someone abbreviates "Critical Role" as CR and you interpret it as "Cognitive Realm."
  9. @Ashspren and @Unlicensed Hemalurgist, fantastic Elantris and Mistborn parodies!! Well done, both of you!
  10. @Caesura It really is! I can't stop thinking about it.
  11. I wrote a review for an amazing webcomic I discovered recently, The Carpet Merchant of Konstantiniyya: Sunbird's book review.
  12. Huh. Yeah, I got nothing. Sorry. But in other news, nature photodump incoming! Birds, part 1 (5 photos): Birds, part 2 (5 photos): Insects (3 photos): Bunny (1 photo): WARNING: Under this next spoiler is a SNAKE photo. Totally innocent photo unless you have a snake phobia, so this is just a heads-up.
  13. You know you're a Sanderfan when 5 out of the 8 stickers on your laptop are Cosmere-related: Wax, Wayne, Marasi, Syl, and Pattern.
  14. What is the word you're trying to look up? I wonder if I might be able to help.
  15. They also tend to appear late at night for US timezones.
  16. Holy Stormfather. I just finished reading the webcomic The Carpet Merchant of Konstantiniyya (roughly 650-ish pages, and the final update was just posted TODAY), and I cannot recommend it enough. It's not much like Brandon's books in the sense that it's not epic fantasy and doesn't have the flashy magic fight scenes of Mistborn or Stormlight, but it's a LOT like Brandon's books in the sense that it does NOT pull any emotional punches. And the art!! It's storming gorgeous. In comparison, every other graphic novel will probably seem like a letdown for me now. Just... Dang. So wholesome I have run out of words.
  17. Not quite a book, but I just binge-read the webcomic The Carpet Merchant of Konstantiniyya in the last two days, and spent probably 30% of my reading time ugly-crying. (You can read it online here if you wish.)
  18. Thank you! I actually have a ridiculous number of photos saved on my laptop. Mostly birds, but lots of other nature stuff too. I'm working on putting the best of them all up in one place somewhere online, but it's slow going because I have so many to sort through. For now, here are a few more of my recent favorites Birds (4 photos): Other animals (4 photos): Flowers (6 photos): Scenery (2 photos):
  19. I found a bunch of fun "creepy crawlies" at the park today. Butterflies (2 photos): Dragonfly, caterpillar, and moth (3 photos):
  20. Very nice, Striker! That prologue definitely does its job as a hook--I'm already eager for the rest of the story. Really enjoyed your prose too. It's got a good balance of feeling epic and momentous but not stilted or overly old-fashioned. Wishing you all the success with this project!
  21. Welcome back!! We missed you.
  22. Or better yet, "Airsick lowlander!"
  23. I don't really know what my next week is going to be like yet, but Monday evening is less likely to work for me than other nights that week. Also, my dad will be in town so I'll be wanting to spend some time with him and don't yet know what all we'll be doing and when. IIRC he's flying back out next Thursday, though, so Friday or Saturday should work even if earlier in the week doesn't.
  24. Either OB spoilers or Cosmere Theories.
