I don't know about the cost of darkroom supplies either, but I'd bet my car that digital is cheaper regardless. Producing the actual photos in digital doesn't cost anything except for batteries and the small price of any that you decide to get printed. (8x10s at my local Costco are only like a dollar each.) And you don't have to wait until the picture is developed to see if it's worth keeping, so you can afford to snap as many as you can fit on a memory card without worrying about wasting film and darkroom chemicals on garbage shots. Plus if you ever need maintenance on your camera, you'll have a heck of an easier time finding someone who knows how to fix a digital than a film camera. As Darkness said, it's a dying breed.

@Firerust That may be the best one-sentence summary of the Shard I've ever seen. Today in amusing Discord quotes:

Re: David and Reckoners, I find that odd. The Steelhunt collectible cards show David as white. I also recall in either Firefight or Calamity David commenting on the weird looks received by a few of the Reckoners traveling together as a mixed-race group including Mizzy. Not that it really matters, I just don't think there's concrete evidence in the books that he's black.

Thank you too! It's my best photo of a wild owl, and I'm pretty proud of it. -

That's great, @Ammanas! Wishing you the best of luck selling the house and finding another you like. -
@AngelEy3 I know zip about film photography and darkrooms, but in terms of digital cameras, I've been very pleased with a broad category called "bridge cameras." Pretty much all my photos I post here were taken with bridge cameras. (Canon S3IS up until February 2017 and more recently a Canon S5IS) They're basically hybrids between small, inexpensive "point and shoot" cameras and big expensive digital SLRs. Generally they have a decent amount of zoom and many of the features that make SLRs versatile but are more affordable and less hassle to carry around due to weight. Which camera is best for you will depend a lot on what you intend to use it for. For me, someone who mostly takes pictures of wildlife, having a good deal of zoom and fast shutter speeds is important because wild animals don't usually just sit and pose conveniently (and I don't use a tripod, so I have to consider my inability to hold the camera totally still). If you plan to focus more on people or scenery, zoom won't be as big of a consideration in picking a camera. As a general rule, Nikon and Canon are widely considered the "heavy hitter" high-quality brands of digital photography, sort of like Marvel and DC are for comic books. They're not the only ones that make good equipment, but they are pretty reliable. You mentioned you dabbled in film photography in school, so I'm guessing you're familiar with some camera/photography terminology like F-stop, aperture, depth of field, ISO, etc?

Some of you who frequent the Discord may have already seen this photo, but I'm very proud of it and I know not everyone is in Discord, so here it is again. Common Raven at the Great Salt Lake. (These birds are way too cool to deserve to have "common" in their name, IMO.) @AngelEy3 Since you love ravens and crows.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

You know you're a Sanderfan when Hoid starts making cameo appearances in your dreams. -
Second both of these suggestions. Bartimaeus is HILARIOUS. I also recommend Jonathan Stroud's Lockwood & Co series, which is a little more horror, but it's middle-grade/YA horror so not as disturbing as many other books in the horror genre. Yes! The Legend of Eli Monpress is an excellent clean fantasy! Highly amusing but awesome and epic too. The author, Rachel Aaron, has another YA fantasy series I would also recommend called Heartstrikers. The first book is Nice Dragons Finish Last. I can't speak for WoT or Dune, but it's no secret (even to people like me who haven't read the books) that GoT is full of graphic sex and violence. The opposite of clean. Yes! Brandon Mull is fantastic! I know you said you'd already read Fablehaven, @MasterJack, but his other series are definitely worth reading too. Beyonders, Five Kingdoms, and Dragonwatch are all excellent. The Candy Shop War was just all right, IMO. Other recommendations from me: Got Luck by Michael Darling. (Read my review of it here.)

Hmm, Most Ancient... Does that make me the wisest person on the board? Even if it doesn't, I'm gonna say it does. Fits with my new owl profile pic.
