I would be happy to write for Epoch, if this backstory actually catches on. I would also be fine with letting somebody else write for Epoch if they wanted to.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure most characters wouldn't really get it either. They would just know that if you try to cross a barrier it speeds everything up around you, and in fast-zones it slows everything down around you.

1. I am very fond of double puns 2. For the physics of this... The time dilation isn't a result of movement, which will inevitably have weird implications for special relativity. But I'm going to say light has the same apparent speed outside of the effect. Thus, inside the effect, light would in fact appear to speed up or slow down. However, since light moves incredibly fast in the first place, you wouldn't really notice it. What you would notice is that light sources from outside the dilation area would seem much brighter or dimmer. This is because the light source is still emitting the same number of joules-per-second in the outside world. So if you are inside a faster time zone, it will appear as if that energy is being spread over a larger duration of time, thus outside lights like the sun will appear much darker inside a speed zone (you will want to bring a flashlight). Conversely, in a slow zone, outside light sources will appear to be much more intense. Meaning that crossing a slowed time barrier would also give you terrible sunburns, come to think of it (although a vehichle would mostly protect you I imagine). Also, due to a feedback loop caused by the time slow down or speed up, it would take longer to create slow time zones than fast time zones.

I would suggest that epics with stronger offensive powers should tend towards glass cannons, while epics with prime invincibility should tend towards weaker offense. Basic admittedly makes more sense. But I kind of like maples. I wouldn't be against both being used. This reminds me of Khepri. Have yet another pitch. For the last couple years, Edmonton has been under the rule of Epoch. Epoch is a time epic with a prime invincibility of reincarnation, and the ability to create areas of increased or decreased flow of time. This power is not very precise, and creating such an area takes time, but the area of effect can be very large. Shortly after taking control, they did several things: Placed barriers of slowed time to regulate travel. All of the city's borders were blocked off, and the city was divided into five sectors. It is possible to cross these barriers, but even in a speeding car you'll lose about a day in the outside world, and the enforcers will get you for it. Placed several corridors of accelerated time, overlaying the highway system. These corridors connect the five sectors, and a single passage controls travel in and out of the city. These corridors form a network of extremely fast transportation. Placed a speed-time effect over all of sector 5, the agricultural sector. Crops grow at about 10x speed in here. It also gets about 1/10 the sunlight though, so artificial lighting is required. From the outside world, people who work here appear to age very quickly. For a long time, Epoch ruled Edmonton fairly unequivocally. He controlled the infrastructure and he could not permanently be killed. Anyone who attacked the city would inevitably find themselves lured into a region of slow time and then overwhelmed by Epoch's enforcers. At the start of the RP, there are two major catalysts that change everything: There are an influx of displaced epics from other regions into Edmonton. Some of them are fleeing the destruction in Oregon, some of them are fleeing an unpopular new dictatorship in Calgary. Edmonton is an obvious choice for many opportunistic epics who want their very own territory. It's small enough to stay beneath the notice of a really powerful epic, but thanks to Epoch's power it is quite prosperous. Somebody discovers Epoch's weakness. And then promptly sends out a message to every mobile in Edmonton announcing said weakness. Epoch was never much of a front-line fighter in the first place, but has become exponentially more reclusive and paranoid now that everyone in the city knows how to kill him. He is still entrenched as ruler of the city, with several lesser epic underlings plus a team of trained maple enforcers, but his position is obviously weakened, and the new epics in town are poised to take advantage of the fact. Thoughts?

I wouldn't be opposed to having Calamity leave sometime into the RP, but I would rather cross that bridge if and when we get to it, so that is why right now I voted "before".

I have approximately three new characters I would be interested in doing. But two of them are vanillas. Would those go in a different thread or nah?

I was under the impression that Szeth's nahel bond was irregular, in that it wasn't to a highspren, but to Nightblood itself. Because just like highspren, Nightblood is a splinter whose intent is closely aligned with the Skybreaker oaths. In which case, nightblood is his sprenblade.

So long as the guitar strings aren’t made of metal like most modern ones are, I’d say they are a prime candidate for awakening. Hoid totally would do it, too. He might also be able to use Lightweaving to somehow enhance the sound of his playing though, if the radiant power is an indication. I would guess is flute is primarily sentimental in value to Hoid, but it might additionally be invested.

A few things on the cosmology side of things: -Unlike dark matter, dark energy is uniformly distributed across all space in the universe. This is distinguishable from a localized expansion effect that is radiating outwards. -Dark energy was part of the universe since day one. The original expansion was primarily inertial, but dark energy accounts for the continuation and accelerarion of said expansion in spite of gravity. I like how you are thinking though.

Airstriking Amaram with Nightblood would probably have been an excellent idea, but I think Szeth may have been otherwise occupied at the time Kaladin fought Amaram.

I don't think either of these are too powerful. And I like that these powers could have interesting RP applications. But both of them are literally "powerful meta-epics who resist corruption and thus become antiheroes who want to use their meta-powers stop all epics" Maybe consider finding a way to differentiate the two somehow? Any one of those traits is extremely rare in epics, and this is a small town.

@Straw your Lightbringer profile pic gave me a random idea (though a non-Sanderson one). What about a one-night series based on the cycle of nine kings? That is, the era before the Prisms existed. The power of one particular spectra would wax, and drafters of that color would rule for a time... And then as that color got drafted too much, their power would ebb. Drafters of the next color down the spectrum would grow more powerful and challenge the ruling drafters, killing most of them off and replacing them as rulers. Village would be drafters/wights of the ruling spectra, elims would be drafters/wights of the challenging spectra. Each 1-night game could have different roles, since each game would feature different types of drafter, and each type of drafting has very different applications.

Quick, lets create a proposal, everybody sign it, and then send it to him

And there's one from MR29 as well. That should be everything.

Apparently this place is in part for game banners, so I might as well get around to fetching the ones from QF30: (I am aware that I have two 2nd cycles) (these are all created using a combination of GIMP and Google's Deep Dream engine, and hosted by imgbb.com) EDIT: Oh wait, there's more These are the alignment and role banners:

So basically an epic whose superpower is creating a death cult? Depending on how you play it, that sounds like it could actually be very entertaining. Now I kind of want one of my characters to be a vanilla follower for this epic, honestly. And while I think the general consensus is that we are making epics weaker in the reboot, I'm pretty sure this one fits in without being overpowered. (about that, do we want to establish some kind of guidelines for epic power levels in the reboot?)

I'm literally reading the last arc of Worm right now Sometime, you should make a fire epic called "Pyromancer" Also, do we know what the city is destined for yet?
-
What if each cycle was a microcosm of some of the shard's past games? You could start with the AG setup and then try to build from there?
-
I like this. I would probably sign up for it if it were run as a thing. I am also fond of balefire mechanics. Although I never actually read WoT (I probably should); the erasure power in my game was loosely inspired by the web serial Pact.
-
That sounds like a lot of fun. Would you try to stitch the cycles together to make an overall game as well?

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley

I should think "all" denotes that both categories apply... -

Similar to a jester in regular games, but more extreme. Sounds fun. We actually did something a lot like this with a “truthless” role once. As a truthless, they have a deah wish and want to be lynched... But they killed every single person who voted on them if they got lynched.
