I'm toying with the idea of a game setup that would probably give... Probably about half of the players killing powers. The bloodshed would hopefully still be drawn out though because of an abundance of protection powers and also certain drawbacks to using the kills. But still.

Runs off to go patent the reusable bomb as an invention. But more seriously... 1 elim kill, 1 lynch, and 4 item kills every cycle totals up to a possible 6 kills every cycle. The items don't all start in-game, which should slow things down somewhat, but towards the end of the game there could be a very large death count. In light of the fact that the killing items can be reused, I think I agree with your decision to make it a QF, anyway.

Day 8: A Venture Out in the Mists A fine grey ash started drifting softly down from the sky, and the mists began to materialize in the air. Combined, the pair made for a truly alien landscape... One that was singularly challenging to see through. Garshin walked alone back to the barracks, leaning heavily on his crutches. His broken leg had been properly cast, but it was still far from mended. The journey to the barracks was a trivial one, even if the mists and falling ash obscured the barracks from his view. Progress was painfully slow. From what he knew of allomancy (for he had been trained to recognize and fight most types of misting), thugs were supposed to be able to heal from wounds like a broken bone practically overnight. That sounded nice. Garshin heard footsteps to his left. It would be another guard, returning from the manor proper. "Hullo!" he shouted companionably through the mists, hobbling over towards the source of the steps. The footsteps stopped. Garshin moved through the mists, but ran into nobody. He looked around, perplexed. "Anyone?" He shrugged, and turned back in the direction he guessed the barracks would be in. He limped along, trusting he would find it eventually. Surely I'm not that slow, even on crutches... Something was wrong. Garshin should have reached the barracks by now, but he still couldn't see them. He couldn't see anything. Just ash and mists, working together in tandem to create an impenetrable fog around him. "Lost?" a voice asked behind him. Garshin whirled around (a somewhat impressive featt in his present state), then relaxed when he saw the guard. "Lord Ruler, you nearly scared me to death!" "Lets finish the job then." the guard said, seizing hold of Garshin's crutch in one hand and body slamming him. Garshin toppled. Blow after blow rained down on his head and back. The crutch broke with a loud crack in his assailants hand, and the guard began mercilessly kicking Garshin on the ground. Unable to stand, Garshin could do little but curl up and hope he survived the beating. He didn't. ------------------------------------ That next morning, the guards spotted Garshin's lifeless body outside. It was a scant few paces from the dirt trail that lead to the barracks. Further investigations revealed that Garshin had been a hazekiller. Unsurprisingly, no incriminting evidence was discovered. ------------------------------------ Day 8 has begun! It will end at 10:30 PM, Mountain Daylight Time, June 22th. Garshin (Yitzi2) was murdered! They were a Village Hazekiller! To clarify... Are those kill items reusable, or 1-shot?

4 extra kills in the game then, since there are 4 killing items That won't speed the game up any more than a vigilante role would I imagine I've even seen a number of LGs with vig roles, although those games tend to be ones with lots of protection powers (for example the kingkiller game) Also, @Aonar Faileas personally I like the notion of rewarding people for being active and RPing. In my opinion this feature is one of the most fun parts of Aman's games. The only thing to maybe watch out for is roles that are obviously of a certain alignment, but then, the same can be said for any game. I for one am not familiar with the universe you've set the game in but it looks like it could be neat. Speaking of non-cosmere settings, I am told that there's never been a game on these forums set in Camorr. Just wanted to put the idea out there

I approve of drawing on the clue murder mystery feel. As for QF versus MR... Honestly it could depend on how common those killing items are. What is the chances that a player will gain such an item in a given cycle? Off the top of my head, looking at this game it seems to me like it's on the level of an MR. It certainly has enough complexity to be an MR. But take my opinion with a grain of salt cause I'm still in line to run my first games.

A really ridiculous theory: Cosmere Nutella!!!
DrakeMarshall replied to Steeldancer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Nutella is the solid investiture of the shard of industry, and grants mystical powers to nutellomancers that consume it. Also if Lift ever gets ahold of a jar of Nutella it would make her awesome for a looooong time. -
Took a while and I got distracted a few times, but here is my first addition in this games parodies! Do you hear the voices sing? Singing a song of vengeful dead It is the music of the sharders who will not be killed again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the silence in the slums There is a life about to end When tomorrow comes! Will you join in our (contribution) crusade? Who will be strong and vote with me? Of all of those who played Is there a lynch you long to see? Just hope you were right You'll know the next night what will be! Do you hear the voices sing Singing a song of vengeful dead It is the music of the sharders who will not be killed again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the silence in the slums There is a life about to end When tomorrow comes! Will you give all you can give? So that our faction may advance Some will fall and some will live Will you stand up and take the chance? The blood of the sharders Will water the streets of tyrants Can you hear the voices sing? Singing a song of vengeful dead It is the music of the sharders who will not be killed again! When the beating of your heart echoes the silence in the slums There is a life about to end When tomorrow comes!

Typing from my phone, so I'll try to keep this short... But knowing me, I'll fail to do so. I literally can't think of one without thinking of the other Javert is just the perfect skybreaker. Also certain similarities occurred to me when Szeth let himself die... Doc! Good to see you again. These parodies... I must contribute... One moment.

Aha! Good point. That's one major ingredient accounted for. It would be sad if Scadrial had no chocolate. -

1. "Newtella." And I'm (mostly) from SoCal... 2. Sometimes, yes. Anyone who answers no to this is obviously a liar. 3. No, actually, but that sounds like a good combination. I'll make a mental note to try that sometime. Anyways, to address the OP. My one concern is that Scadrial might not have either hazelnuts or coca plants on it. But if it does, I'm sure it will be a thing -
This. This looks amazing. The references... You are combining two high caliber settings in an elimination game and I love it. I am so very tempted to sign up. I am also not sure I'll have the time to dedicate to this game. Give me some time and I'll see.

Quick Fix Game 24: Eliminating Elysium
DrakeMarshall replied to Sart's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This cytonics mechanism... Will be very interesting. And I should be able to participate in this game, particularly since LG34 is probably going to be done by the time this one starts. Also @Jondesu I approve of your name. I was very tempted to sign up as Arthur Dent after I saw that. Anyways, I've read the linked story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It now seems wondrously ironic to style an elimination game off this particular story. Even if the dissidents are presumably violent. Sign me up as Torin, a munitions technician in charge of maintaining and reloading weaponry on the platform. He was the tin-foil hat type conspiracy theorist, so when he learned that aliens were actually mindswapping humans and infiltrating society, he just said that he's been warning everyone about that all along. Like everyone else, he's interested in this shiny new cytonics thing that the Phone Company suddenly revealed to humanity, but his cytonic potential will remain undisclosed, 'cause the game hasn't started and I don't know what my role is There will be blood.- 433 replies

Wow. LG26 is fascinating. Also thoroughly nonstandard.
-
I suppose those are neutral roles, yes I am aware of how they work I daresay I suppose the way that is made still interesting is by giving the player an actually useful power to play around with, like item stealing. That's not a half bad approach to making what is basically a surv actually more interesting.
-
Hmmm... What sort of neutral roles have been seen in LGs? I've been wanting to incorporate a neutral alignment role into a certain game I'm thinking about... In terms of both theme and balance, a survivor role really makes sense... My reservation is that playing the survivor sounds like it would be kind of boring. Also, I'll try not to make too much of a habit of double posting, but I think there are many reasons for this to go in its own post.

edgedancer Ishar's Role in the Current State of Roshar
DrakeMarshall replied to Aoibheann's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ameram's logic does seem quite simple. That is precisely why I think there's more to it. It's very easy to dismiss Ameram's reasoning as simplistic, a clear instance of the confusion between causation and correlation. But this is one of the most powerful secret societies in Roshar that we are talking about. I think it is likely that something more than raw speculation caused them to conclude that voidbringers result in the heralds. Their conclusion is quite likely still mistaken, but I think there must be an underlying truth to it. And on top of that there is Nale. Nale is insane, and taking counsel from Ishar who is also insane. That should probably explain his actions. But even insanity is not utterly irrational. What's more, Nale was once a herald. If anyone understands what caused the desolations, shouldn't a former herald? Again, I am inclined to conclude that Nale's conclusion is mistaken, but still based on some underlying truth. This is what makes me wonder if there is some kind of balance of power on Roshar. -

DrakeMarshall replied to Aoibheann's topic in Stormlight Archive
You bring up a good point. Theres a lot of things that could be talking about though. What if this is Taravangian deducing that one order of the knights radiant betrayed the others, like what WoR implies? Oooh I like this train of thought. Ahahahaha YES that's definitely it I've really been wondering about this. I get that both Ameram and Nale are both misguided, but even misguided people tend to have some rational basis. Why do people keep supposing that if one appears, the other will too? That belief should have a source... -
Did someone say bad puns? You better steel yourself for all the puns about allomancy... I'll tell them to you bold as brass, before I've even got all the details ironed out. What do you 'zinc of them? Personally I'd say they are comedic gold. I'd tell another, but I think my supply is pewtering out. And if you didn't look carefully, you might have mist some of those.

how was aimia invaded in the first place?
DrakeMarshall replied to king of nowhere's topic in Stormlight Archive
You alls mention the possibility of a weapon like napalm being used against the sleepless to burn the hordelings. I somewhat doubt that Roshar had the technology to make incendiary weapons like napalm... But on the other hand, isn't the order of dustbringers capable of making loads and loads of fire? Thing is, I'm not so sure about the timelines. The scouring might have happened post-recreance, not sure. -
There's a WoB out there that states that the recreance happened hundreds of years after the heralds betrayal. Maybe I'll pull it up when I'm not on my phone. And the heralds betrayal signalled the "last desolation" So what exactly were the knights radiant doing all that time that there wasn't a desolation going on? I kind of got the feeling that the knights radiant only really apppeared during desolations, although maybe that is wrong. Maybe they were normally around at all times, and only disappeared after the recreance, only to reappear once the true desolation approached. Point is, the knights radiant weren't fighting a desolation at the time of recreance. In fact, probably the desolations were already seeming like legends by the time of the recreance. So what on earth caused the recreance? And, come to think of it, what battle were those knights in Dalinars vision returning from? Not much can really pose any sort of threat to an army of radiants, to justify assembling an army of radiants. If not voidbrigers... I am inclined to conclude that the radiants were fighting each other. Thoughts? I know there have been plenty of threads on the recreance, but I'd like to bring up the fact that the recreance doesn't appear to be a result of the desolations in any way.
