What is happening with Mayalaran and Adolin
Treamayne replied to Njvodin's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well Reasoned, others have considered the same: Adolin Edgedancer (with links to other threads) Maya and Adolin's Bond Why Maya is healing Deadeye Spren I would not go so far as to say it is the prevailing fan theory, but it is a popular one. I, personally, agree that a "Reverse" bond is forming, but I doubt the final result will make Adolin an Edgedancer - I think there will be some other effect(s).- 12 replies

As noted in a few of the other threads linked above, it's not that there are more Truthwatchers, by percentage, . . . . . . it's that the kind of people that would be inclined to visit forums about their favorite books and fantasy worlds tend to fit into the Truthwatchers.

Please keep in mind that Feruchemy is a result of the interactions between both Ruin and Preservation with the planet and the way they created the population. We still do not have a definitive answer, but the implication is that Preservation's Intent is expressed by preserving one of your attributes for later use. Ruin's Intent is expressed by the loss of Investiture when Compressing an attribute being tapped. Since no external power is being used in Feruchemy (not including Compounding) I think it is more likely the Investiture storage is being attached to the object's Spiritweb when storing and being drawn from the object's spiritweb when tapping. It would fit with these WoBs: If you think about the explanations in Emperor's Soul, it makes sense that the "Coppermind's Spiritweb" is changed in those two examples (broken, Alloyed) so the investiture that was placed is still there, but no longer accessible as the "container" has changed. It may be that the storage is happening in the Cognitive, but we did not see indications of that in M:SH.

This does not seem to match the scene shown with Sazed: It would seem that storing Pewter affects how much force a muscle can apply (straining to lift a spoon), and storing speed affects how quickly a muscle can contract/extend (lethargy in movement). I feel like storing speed would make you incapable of running anything, much less a marathon. Hope that helps

Welcome to the Shard. Please see the Sharder FAQ for tips on searching thread and other useful information for the forum. Allomantic and Feruchemic alloy compositions
Treamayne replied to Lewis Nethur's question in Cosmere Q&A
This: Bad alloys and impure metals will either be inefficient or fail entirely - depending on how far they are from the ideal. It is implied by the Metal Tables - since the same pure metal and alloy is labelled for all three arts, but the closest WoBs to confirmation that I can find (Stormlight/Elantris Spoilers) are: It's the chemistry and molecular structure that enables use with Investiture, if those were not the same then Compounding would not work. Hope that helps -
Here's the relevant passage - TLM Epilogue 4:

True~ish. But you know what they say about Hindsight. It's doubtful Rashek knew about that when "designing" the idea for Inquisitors while in the Well Even less was recalled correctly afterward, which is why he had to experiment (See below) As Kelsier and Wax both show, there are other issues when mixing pure Steelsight with normal vision Wax works better with just a few steel lines over normal sight, but that can lose nuance Kar and Marsh both show Steelsight can offer HoA Words of Founding (Ch 44 Epigraph) - If the questioin were "Did Rashek need to put the spikes in the eyes" then I would agree that's a no. Did he believe that placement offered advantages he wanted? I would say that how effective Inquisitors were in the Final Empire indicates yes.
-
The "Author" answer is simple: In world, likely because Rashek, whhile holding the Power in the Well, knew that for a Construct whose primary purpose was Hunting people - having Steel/Iron Sight and being able to see movement through doors and walls is a massive advantage (with a side of intimidation). But also, know that part of constructing Inquisitors and Koloss was influenced by Ruin - and Ati was very interested in pushing the bounds of the servants he could manipulate rashek into making for him. Hope that helps.

Here are my thoughts on the first half of Warbreaker

Due to spoilers, I'll wait to adress anything else until you finish, though I do recommend the Annotations here above even Mistborn Era 1 (but not until after the first reading or side-by-side with the first re-read - the eBook actually has the annotations built-in). I will mention some Annotations here, because you have already touched on it: There is much more to say, but we'll wait for you to get to the finish line. Hope you are enjoying the ride. -
BLUF: We do not yet know. There are probably some fan theories, but the only Fabrial we have seen (confirmed) with silver was an alloy that does not impact the fabrial's function: The only known (so far) interactions for Silver on Roshar are on the Coppermind - Extract and WoBs: So, using an actual Silver Cage would likely have a deletrious effect (but may be useful for a saboteur).

Keep in mind that there is a significant difference between a normal Allomancer burning Iron/Steel and a Hemalurgist (inquisitor or other eye-spike) that has A-Steel and/or A-Iron "hotwired" into the Spiitweb. This allows them to see the Metals (Axi) without burning metals - and therefore seeing in outlines rather than Connection Lines. It would likely be similar to the scene in Matrix where everything is outlined in Green. TLM and WoB indicates that at that level (which a normal Metal born could learn to do with practice, and how a Blind metal born would probably learn to live) the "lines" are so fine they effectively become invisibile seen before the oulines of the objects they represent. References: Hope that helps

Yeah, it took me a bit to dig through as well - glad I read it once, but I doubt I'll read it again (ditto TWoK Prime - as opposed to both AoN and WS Prose - both of which I have read more than once). Specifically (without spoilers): Specific scenes that can be equated to scenes in a published work (even if most/many details are different) More specifically (slight spoilers):
-
Welcome to the Shard Both are correct. If the object is a verb, the "to" is required for the infinitive case to make the gerund. When the object is a noun, the "to" is usually optional (depending on direct or indirect object function).

Sunlit Man Spoilers:
-
Well, we have this WoB saying (Mistborn Spoilers):
-
Oh, there is definitely something there - I just don't think it has to do with being a Cognitive Shadow or long-lived - it has to do with Heralds specifically (likely because of how they "broke" the Oathpact). Being long-lived can cause problems Being a Shadow (especially one in a physical shell - like Returned and Kelsier) can cause problems Heralds just also have this third "magical madness" specific to them too This is the one partially alleviated by being near a source touching directly into Honor's power in the SR when saying an Oath and having it accepted) WoB:
-
It's not so-much a Cognitive Shadow thing, as something that affects all long-lived/immortal Cosmere people. Rashek WoB: Most believe it has to do with offloading memories (as Hoid does with Breath) but, I think, if that were the only factor than Rashek would not be so affected since he had F-Copper. We do know that Ruin was messing with his head, but that too does not seem to be the only factor. Either way, the Crux is: live too long and you too might lose your sanity.
-
As mentioned by @hwiles We do not, yet. WoBs: And, of course, in RoW Navani is introduced to (White Sand Spoilers:) So, as the Scientific Method takes hold on various planets, we should see more of these questions getting answered.
-
Well, we do have the opposite confirmation. TES Day 76: While not related directly, this shows Brandon confirmed it is very difficult (but not impossible) to Stamp an invested object (likely needing an outside source of unkeyed investiture to provide enough power) WoB: Hope that helps
-
And if not, it should probably still be inside a spoiler tag here - to be safe.
-
Unfortunately:
-
No. Nightblood was created from Steel, but is so heavily invested now that the metal has non-standard properties (it is no longer normal steel) similar to a god metal. Ref: So a true god metal is investiture in a physical matter solid form, and Nightblood is steel changed by incredible amounts of investiture. Hope that helps
