  1. Please keep in mind that the heritage of being MetalBorn is a function of sDNA (Spiritual DNA, a portion of the Spiritweb), not Physical Realm DNA. Also, sDNA inheritance is similar, but not the same as physical DNA inheritance. Hope that helps
  2. Not quite. It's more like both the 10 Essences and the 12 Aethers are subsets of something else with slightly different interpretations of the source. WoBs: There is likely to be at least one liquid-manifesting Aether; but it is unlikely to manifest quantities greater than the cost. Also, the Luhel Bond draws on Hydration from the Aetherbound/Sprouter/Sand Master's body - so even if water were to be created this way, it would take time for that source to be metabolized and available for fueling a Bond. White Sand Spoilers: Hope that helps.
  3. No, but we do have more data points. In the Pure Lake, ingesting an invested fish results in abilities or effects that last as long as the investiture you ingested does. Same was true for Dusk, ingesting the invested skullsnake meat (and more so when he ingested worm paste directly). IED CH 33:
  4. Note - the Patji worms are not the only method for this to take place. A very similar realmatic effect takes place in teh Purelake on Roshar with the Fish.
  5. If it is a mechanical application, why would it need to affect the user at all? As part of establishing a link, each device shares it's time-frame and the appropriate effect is applied to incoming and/or outgoing signals to match the frame (matching incoming signals seems most likely, to me).
  6. The question assumes Xisis is still in Silverlight, rather than returning to his studies (Tress Spoilers) beneath the Spore Oceans on Lumar. Alternately, Seons speak through SR Connection - and the tech level when Kelsier spoke to Shallan was significantly lower (Era 2), so Era 4 tech may have found ways to fix the problem of communicateing to/from Silverlight (possibly a Bendalloy/Cadmium fabrial to manipulate the comm signal).
  7. Preservation - M:SH 2-1: Ruin - M:SH 2-1: Preservation and Ruin from POV - M:SH 6-4: Odium OB Ch 57: Cutivation - OB Ch 114: Honor - does not seem to have a single experience showing the same type of description. Fragments are spread out, and many are from the SR (rather than glimpsing the SR from the Physical or Cognitive) Note: Will update with Honor as I finish searching
  8. Not the only mention of Vax - Ars Arcanum to Elantris: Also, Brandon implied Vax may not be a Planet - WoBs: Also notable - the other mention of Vax was in the Elantris Ars Arcanum, and we still do not know who or what inhabits the Third Continent of Sel. (correlation does not imply causation - just noting the connection for discussion). Hope that helps.
  9. That WoB does not place Tress at all - only clarifies Sunlit -> Yumi -> Emberdark. Tress is still implied to be after Yumi because in Yumi Hoid has not yet gained access to AonDor.
  10. I asked, because it was part of SotD and explained in Ch 45: So, their version of "Prime Directive" seems to essentially be: Contact - Yes Bully - Yes Manipulate - Yes Assist - Yes Trade - Restricted Technology - only near current tech level (e. g. no information-age tech for an iron-age culture) Invested Tech - no Unless they can prove one of the exceptions mentioned. . . AT least that was my understanding based on that passage (and other references in IED). Unsure if you mean OG Zellion or Nomad/Zellion - but that is still an individual - not one culture contacting another culture. And we saw how the Scadrians treated Canticle. . .
  11. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. Have you read IED yet (and SotD, to some extent)? This is a large part of that story.
  12. Basically. The impression I had from Starling's discourse on the subject was that the Cosmere is using the term "Spacefaring" to mean those Societies that can access Cosmere Planets that do not have a Perpendicularity by travelling to them through the Physical Realm. It was one of the main topics about visiting Dhatri - because there is no Perpendicularity (which made Aditil's tickets so expensive) IED Ch 22: It seems to me that in-world there is a noted difference between Worldhopping and Spacefaring, though the latter can use the former to be faster and cheaper (for systems with a Perpendicularity - or simply to minmize the PR Space travel). Edit: Possibly a better measure is the number of societies that are largely Realmatically Aware E. g. people on Scadrial were conducting trade through Shadesmar during the Final Empire - but Scadrial as a whole was not Realmatically aware at that point. Even in Era 2, there may have been more people who knew, but Scadrian Society was not privy to the Larger Cosmere yet.
  13. This is likely a false assumption. Dozens of cultures were represented in Silverlight before any planet had a Spacefaring culture. Interplanetary Trade has been happening since before the Shattering - airships just make travel through Shadesmar faster, and some of those airships can also travel in Space in the Physical Realm. Discussed briefly by Starling - Ch 22: In fact, it's even possible that one of the main reasons why Dragons had such pervasive influence over the millenia was because they could fly through Shadesmar beween Expanses, when nobody else could do so. . .
  14. Similar. WaT Ch 144: Hope that helps
  15. The only definitive we have is that this is after Tress, as this was Crow's second Mutiny and she was already in service to Xisis. Tress is already believed to be the story furthest in the Future prior to IED (Spoilers) Hope that helps
  16. That line (spoilers): Hope that helps
  17. Let's look at the exact section - IED Ch 3: I took this to mean making a deal with Frost on the Spirit Shores by the Dragon Statue-Corpses we see in Starling's vision. Which would make the Epelli have something to do with how they left Yolen rather than how they found First of the Sun. Perhaps there are/were guardians at the edges of Yolen's Shadesmar (SA Spoilers)
  18. It was heavily implied (but not confirmed) that Mraize's Aviar was like Sak - a non-Pantheon Bird taken to Patji's Well and allowed to eat the worms to gain a Talent. Despite the plumage she seems to be closer to a Raptor than Parrot (by our reckoning, we don't know in-story classifications). WoB Hope that helps
  19. Epub - Ch 46: The italics stop with the section opening bold - "easy as you imagine" should also be italicized as it is the rest of Chrystalis' thought-speak. Ch 54: . . . keep these prisoners prisoner. Ditransitive use of keep noun-verb agreement (prisoner is the state [singular] being maintained for the prisoners [plural]) Inconsistancy - but possibly purposeful: Ch 51: Why would Hoid use the Vorin honorific name in this conversation exclusively about Bajerden's lifetime and before? - seemed out-of-place for a Vorin Psuedonym in a conversation between Hoid and Starling in the spirit realm shores.
  20. I've only made it to Ch 41 so far Complete now, but I must say that I find the idea that Scadrians are villanous to be both obvious and saddening. I have the feeling that the Roshar/Scadrial war will be one with no "good guys" on either side - much more Grey-Gray Morality than Black-White Morality. The focus on the Malwish Empire is likely meant to provide hope (for the readers) that not all of Scadrial has become raging egotist bullies. Hopefully we'll get more insight in Era 3. Minor Spoilers:
  21. To what do you aggressively refer? AonEne's pronoun section is exacty that information. Perhaps you do not realize "enby" is a voiced acronym for NB meaning Non-Binary? So, "he/him in an enby way" is an entirely serious answer the the question of what Pronouns AonEne prefers (even if using slang contraction to make the data fit on a single line). Otherwise, please clarify what your question might be or to which profile field you are referring.
  22. Might as well start this early. Listing favorite quotes from SP5: Ch 7: Ch 41:
  23. Kokerlii. Just starting the story, and I have a feeling I won't like the reveal of how he passed away. Just needed to share how sad this made me at the very beginning of the book. Edit - Called it:
  24. We do not know that it was Honor's Perpendicularity - we only know that Uma's unnamed Radiant called it "Honor's Gateway" (and we do not know why she used that term). Also, Demoux specifically calls out "odd behavior for a perpendicularity of this nature" - implying that while it is a Perpendicularity (any sufficiently large concentration of investiture can form one) it is not necessarily tied to any single shard and may somehow be different than other types of perpendicularities (which we see because it only travels to Shadesmar, and people can see Shadesmar through the open passage). That said, if it is somehow tied to Honor, it could be that Cuisicesh is also tied to Honor because the Great Spren notes that he is "to be your guide for the Fifth Journey" - implying he does not travel with the Iriali on the Long Trail; he is only enabling the next leg of it. WaT I-11: WoB: Hope that helps
  25. The book is not available - commercial release for IotE is still 2026 last I heard. July 1st was only the Backerkit Release for those that backed the Words of Radiance Leatherbound Campaign. Hope that helps
