  1. Your question three needs a third option: Situationally Dependant. If you need/want research resources, I recommend "Think Like a Publisher" by Dean Wesley Smith for insights into Indie Publishing considerations and information. Also, recent articles/interviews with Matt Dinniman may yield insight as he has just transitioned after over a decade of self-publishing (primarily Kindle Unlimited); so his stand-alone Operation Bounce House was Traditional-Publishing-only while his series Dungeon Crawler Carl was Self-published and recently reprinted under Ace (PRH) with traditional publishing (see below): Hope that helps
  2. In the Sharder FAQ, the first section links to the Forum Policies (but I do not restate them): In the arcanum, you will see a "Copy button" (please see below) - click that. On the forum, open a spoiler and/or quote tag and use Paste to add your WoB. By using the copy button, all needed formatting, including the link back to the original WoB will be preserved. You can, of course, use any copy/paste method you like, this just tends to be the easiest. Hope that helps
  3. I feel like Breath is a Gift from Endowment to the naturally born people of Nalthis. Even if you could make this work, you should probably question if angering Endowment by abusing that gift (and harming life to do so) is an intelligent decision. WoBs (Mistborn Spoilers) Hope that helps
  4. not really, because spiderman uses webs like tethers. he swings on ropes. lurchers don't have ropes. it's more like stiff elevators connected to all the metal around them. so the swinging mechanic would be different. WoB: So, Era 3 it would be possible as the cities grow.
  5. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. Please do not Necro old posts, it is against policy (except specific exclusions). Also, please read passed post one - this was resolved two weeks after the post you quoted. Hope that helps
  6. Question was already answered. . . Just for completion, it was defined in the Forum Policies Hope that helps
  7. I changed the image to the test I PMed to @KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren since they indicated it worked in PM correctly. Thank you.
  8. That sounds like a misreading of this WoB: There is a huge difference between "not only mateform"' and "every form." We know that most forms are Malen/Femalen; while, at least, Mateform and Slaveform are Male/Female. There are likely other Male/Female Singer forms. But then, asexual does not mean "incapable of reproduction" either. The answer we have not yet received explicitely is if Malen and Femalen genders are capable of reproduction for Singers - or only Male and Female genders.
  9. Well of Ascension was so vague that his editor (Moshe) wasn't even sure of Vin and Elend were in a physical relationship. WoB: Bolding mine
  10. Right, receive a human attribute. But their ability to change shape based on eaten biological material and using a skeleton is not, itself, an attribute to be stolen that we know of. Your WoB has the answer - bolded for emphasis (SA Spoilers) The rest of your WoBs are about bonds - not about a single Hemalurgic Spike stealing a single trait that would confer the ability to shapeshift like a Mistwraith/Kandra. As I said in the first post - there are ways to change forms/shapeshift; but we do not yet know of a way for Hemalurgy to steal this one trait. The only known way to change a human into a mistwraith-like-shapeshifter is a Shard or Sliver using the full power of the Well (or Shard) to force a change at every level. Then, its not stealing a trait, it's a permanent race change by any reference that I can find. Since we do not actually know what, precisely, Rashek did - we don't seem to have enough information for further conjecture. Sorry
  11. I do not think that is a trait that can be stolen. They are a different species - created from people, but no longer people and they bred true so Mistwriaths now were never people before. But there are other ways to cause some amount of Shapeshifting. WoBs: Hope that helps
  12. Ral-Na - one of the kings of the Reshi Isles, introduced on WoR and verified Trans in Dawnshard Ch 3: WoBs: Hope that helps
  13. S5 Ep 25 - The Inner Light (if just for the music by Jay Chattaway)
  14. I think the premise is a basic misunderstanding of what "FTL" means in the Cosmere. You are trying to apply IRL definitions (an object traveling at speeds greater than 1c) to something that is fundamentally different. In the Cosmere, FTL means, for example, "I can travel from Taldain to Roshar faster than the light of AisDa can reach Roshar" Traveling Shadesmar is FTL, Starling's Ship in IED is using FTL, Elsecalling from Ashyn to Roshar was FTL (8k+ years before Dajer was born). There are FTL methods using investiture hinted to come. We don't know what they are and we don't know if it truly means travelling at objective speeds greater than 1c (rather than possible subjective speeds, like Time bubbles). I do not think you can use the phrase "FTL" in IED to explicitely mean "Travelling in the physiclal realm at speeds faster than 1c." WoBs Hope that helps
  15. Have you checked the post above this one? Verified Locations of Unpublished Content It should have links to the scenes that were released; some are also listed in the Arcanum's Liar of Partinel Tag.
  16. Weird - it even shows in your quote to me. PM test.
  17. Here is a DCC Themed version (possible spoilers - but no context for them) Yep - Last Shadow was announced 2012 (as Shadows Alive) and released 2021 The Queens was announced 2020 and we are still waiting.
  18. My heart wants to shed a tear for you. . . But, then I remember the wait for (finally complete) Forward the Foundation, Last Shadow, & Peace Talks; and (still waiting) The Queens, Doors of Stone, & Winds of Winter. Two years for a novel was considered normal/average for years, afterall. Seems like the Doom meme fits better when you slot the various "waiting for book" names in the vertical tree of health damage.
  19. Anyone (asterisk) Brandon has not yet clarified if "anyone" means: Any Allomancer Any Scadrian (because they all have Preservation in them) Any sapient being in the Cosmere What we do know is that to burn a Godmetal other than Lerasium, you require a connection to that Shard (Vin could not burn Raysium - she has no Connection to Odium). Lerasium is a specific exception because it's side effect is to make a person an Allomancer by establishing a Connection to Preservation. A Mistborn burning Lerasium would get a different effect. WoB: The Ultimate Metal Count is probably the thread you are referencing. The answer is likely "no" because access to most metals are not natural - just something certain allomancers/people may be able to burn if they could find a way to do so. Also, any of the combinations based upon a Godmetal other than Lerasium or Atium alloys could not be present in native Scadrians who lack Connection to those Shards. That said, your idea has some merit (ish) based on Brandon's expanded explanation for the Sign of 16 and the Mistsickness in HoA - WoB: Hope that helps
  20. Unlikely - Aluminum disrupts in a field, not just line-of-sight. WoBs:
  21. How can Ruin be "an opponent" if it takes place centuries after Harmony's rise?
  22. Have you tried the OpenDyslexic font? It helps for some people, and many eReaders now stock it as a standard option Example image: Hope that helps
  23. @Treamayne Response to which? The OP or the OT? Who hasn't? My preferred method when starting was to start with a tag, read all the entries under that tag while splitting off related tags to new tabs - then read those. epeat as needed. @Frustration cites often and well. Also, @alder24 is likely better than I am at citing responses. Regardless, it's not about what has been memorized (I also have not memorized everything) it's about practicing Search techniques to find the sources when you need them (which is why I made the primer on Searching Coppermind and Arcanum in the Sharder FAQ). I'm also lucky enough to have all of the ebooks in Calibre, which makes searching text much easier as well (RegEx searches). The rest comes from repetition and practice - knowing there are one or more WoBs to answer a question and what keywords to use to find them efficiently. If you start responding to questions now, you'll quickly notice how often the same questions re-appear and know how to find those references quickly. Update: I'm sorry @CoderDrag0n8 and @Qianweilian I'm guessing the lack of response is because I have failed to provide the humourous response you were expecting. I'll try harder next time.
  24. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. As @alder24 said, Warbreaker includes information on Nightblood's Origins (as well as two other characters seen on Roshar during Stormlight Archive) Hope that helps
