  1. Are you implying the use of a Durlumin Spike to steal a Dragon's Connection to the SR? How do you intend for a Duralumin Spike to pierce their body? (assuming stealing that connection is even possible)
  2. WoBs: Hope that helps
  3. Unlikely that Rosharan Artefabrians are aware of Alloy percentages on how that degrades effectiveness. Roshar is way behind on sciences like Metallurgy - because they have soul casting and don't have much use for the non-magical solution, or the information that knowledge provides. They may get there eventually - and worldhoppers with access to both planets became very interested in these questions after Navani's lecture. WoBs (not directly applicable, but implies this answer): Hope that helps
  4. Shards and Allomancy WoBs: Notably:
  5. WoBs: I'll update the OP with the date itself.
  6. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. Well, we also have to consider how being an Archepelago would affect the economics of it. It's possible that things like "taxi" have an On-Island and Inter-Island rates. IRL, we had Hackney Carraiges and Hansom Cabs as late as 1605 and 1834 (respectively) - Wikipedia: We only have one WoB on the Rithmatist value of the Dollar, which was valued much higher than IRL dollars, due to the clockworks in its design (and which would change the economics of sub-dollar valuation - WoB: Hope that helps
  7. That's the thread for AoN requests This Thread is where the Admins maintain the list of unpublished, free-web-published material and/or instructions on how to acquire them. Hope that helps
  8. WoBs themselves do not inherently have a spoiler period - they merely inherit the spoiler period of their topic. If it relates to Brandon, sure. If it relates to Cosmere - then Cosmere Discussion is fine (ditto non-Cosmere works); IED WoBs would discuss in Spoiler Zone; and SP6 in this thread. Speaking of which, can we please Pin teh FoD Thread, like the old IED thread was Pinned?
  9. Matter-Energy-Investitre configuration of the Cosmere means that Investiture entering the Physical Realm can Convert to Matter (Herald Bodies, Feruchemist Tapping Pewter, etc.) or Energy (Aon Daa, Lightweaving Illusion, etc.) - or - Investiture can enter the Pysical Realm as itself, but it will appear like Physical Matter, but without the properties of Matter: Investiture appearing as a gas: Mist appears like Fog, but responds to investiture and does not display the properties of water vapor in air Investiture appearing as a liquid: The Well appears like water, but does not have the properties of a liquid in a large earthen bowl Investiture appearing as a solid: Shardblades appear as metals but have their own properties, not the properties of any similar Metallic molecule from the Periodic Table) So, just because investiture has been converted into matter or energy does not mean that the source is not investitire or that it has the Connection and Identity of the matter it is replicating. WoBs: Hope that helps
  10. Not to Nitpick - but my point still stands - the body is not the biological body born to their spiritweb. How "real" the matter becomes after being forged from investiture has nothing to do with what I was saying. If you have evidence to the contrary, please let us know.
  11. We seem to have the same conclusion, but. . . I fail to see what this has to do with the conversation. Are you, perhaps, confusing the source with the Investiture's kinetic State? Yes, Allomancy is fueld by Preservation's investiture; yes, it is originating from teh Spiritual Realm when a metal is burned - but while the Investiture is Kinetic (working to create an effect) is it has already transitioned to the Allomancer's body and is no longer in the Spiritual Realm. I'm not saying a Larkin could siphon that; I am saying that if a Larkin can affect an Allomancer or Feruchemist that is when they would be vulnerable. We just do not have enough information either way (e. g. A Soother's effect occurs in teh Cognitive Realm - but would the investiture be vulnerable suffusing the soother before moving to the CR to create an effect? We don't yet know).
  12. Yeah, we just do not have any other name for that process - which seems to only affect Cognitive Shadows from Threnody (with the "warped Breath"); so I used the name we have, while knowing that specifics will alter based on timing and environment. WoB
  13. IED Ch 28: It could be that we are discussing at cross purposes - so for the sake of clarification I want to note that when I say "three simple rules" I mean the process of angering a Shade from Green to Red and them going on a killing spree. The Specific Rules or things that set them off are likely to chage over times and environments, but the Process itself is shown to still be in effect.
  14. Implied, but not stated outright - partly because the Shades of the Chorus always have "Eyes of red" while we see Nazh's eyes switch from Green to Red. TSM: Hope that helps
  15. Nope - M:SH P1C1: It was hard to see on Scadrian Shadesmar because of the Misty nature of the subastral, but Kelsier noticed it right away. It does not appear in the space between Shardworlds. Only once a region of Shadesmar has developed enough to form world-specific "geography" - Scadrial=Mist, Roshar=Gems/Beads, Nalthis=Color(presumably - based on the "Expanse of Vibrance" name), etc. M:SH P5C1: That's why the Grand Knell is so important. For more detail, please see Isles of the Emberdark - which is still in the spoiler period, but can be discussed here.
  16. Precisely - that's often misunerstood because it is an analogy for Investiture and the Three Realms. M:SH P2C1: All things exist in Three Realms - like a Ray of Light, all things originate in the Spirtiual Realm (Spirit Web - like a sun is the source of the Ray of Light). The Cognitive is the filter that determines how the source is expressed, like the Medium through which light passes. The Physical Realm is the Expression of all of that (pooling in the metaphor). None of that has anything to do with the Shadesmar "Sun" (which isn't even visible for this conversation, since it takes place in the Shadesmar Cave while Kelsier is trapped in the Well). Hope that helps
  17. Keep in mind that is a fan theory, not confirmed. Brandon has RAFOed if the sun represents the Spiritual Realm, the Beyond, neither or something else. That said, we have no information on any way to actually reach the "sun" because it will remain in the same distant horizon regarless of day, time, or distnce travelled. Coppermind: Hope that helps
  18. That is Guides and Policies As far as I know - the Prelude and Prologue to WoK are the only two chapters of any book that have a dedicated single page - and only because there are so much foreshadowing / references / Easter Eggs in those two chapters. Not even Mistborn or Elantris has a dedicated page for each chapter. But asking a Keeper could not hurt.
  19. Editor's Corner (not sure if you need to be logged in to see it) The Way of Kings - Chapter Summaries Hope that helps
  20. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. Only the GodMetals on Scadrial (or any Shardworld) are invested. The Metals used by Allomancers are just metal. "Burning" the metal is the process of using the molecular structure (a pattern) to create a path for Preservation's investiture in the Spiritual Realm to power their abilities (much like Aons on Sel). So, no. A Larkin could not gain any investiture from metals on Scarial - possibly not from any metals at all, since they have only been shown to be able to "Consume" investiture in a Gaseous or Liquid State (they don't each Shardblades, afterall). WoBs: That said, they may be able to consume the Kinetic investiture from Allomancers and Feruchemists while it is being Burned or Tapped. Hope that helps
  21. Depends on the desired final result. We already see "forgery" reaminate bodies in TES - Bloodsealing. Sure, you might get closer to a Selish Clod with Forgery (or similar) to add depth and detail to the artificial soul - but the basics of Dor-based Lifeless were already a thing long before this WoB. . .
  22. You can do that easily now - just edit the first post. More details in the SHARDER FAQ
  23. Welcome to the Shard. Please consider an Intro Post to let us know what you have or have-not read (whichever list is shorter). Also, please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips. Keep in mind that IED is still in the spoiler period, so this should have been posted to the Spoiler Zone. I've reported it for you so that an Admin can move the thread. This was foreshadowed in Mistborn:Secret History - P3C2: Spoilers below for M:SH, SfSitFoH, and Sunlit Man: We do not have the full story yet, but apparently, on Threnody, there are "Rites" that need to be accomplished for a Cognitive Shadow to retain Sapience and not become the type of Shade seen in SfSotFoH. We know that the Shades seen in that story have something missing that cause them to be less self-aware - but, as seen in Sunlit man, they all are still subject to Threnody's Three Simple Rules - even when they retain their Sapience. WoBs: Hope that helps
  24. No worries. It's one of the reasons why I try answering so many questions and look up references - that process helps me remember these little details
