  1. I think the play on words was more about monetary investment as spheres are money. The Investiture thing would probably be unintentional.
  2. I will not fear. Fear is the spren killer. So I'm really interested in how the giant creature/spren moving through the highstorm was just kind of brushed off as an aside in that flashback. What the heck is going on there? Kaladin's chapter was way too short but did give us some good insight into how it appears Odium is going to be manipulating both sides to further his agenda and sow hatred. Figure out a way to come through on this Kaladin my man. Time to be a mediator. Oh Mraize. Hi, didn't see you there. This is going to be baaaad.
  3. Well granting Allomancy effectively rewrites your spiritweb so yeah pretty much the same thing.
  4. Judging by your user name I am going to assume you are an expert on such subjects.
  5. Make sure you watch it in Albuquerque.
  6. Everything you know is wrong. Black is white, up is down, and short is long. And everything you thought was just so important doesn't matter.
  7. Next band name idea: Sucking Elantris. I'm thinking post-punk industrial with some theramin thrown in for good measure.
  8. I know it seems a little out there, but here's an idea: What if the last desolation never technically ended? It kinda fits with what you're saying in that Odium would be playing a long con, lulling humanity into a false sense of security...
  9. As we've been learning more and more about Roshar and it's ancient history (still frustratingly very little), I've been really getting the feeling I've seen this type of story before. The first thing I thought of on reflection was the Coldfire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman. If you've not read the series stop reading now because I'm going to spoil a major plot point. If you have read it or never plan to read it, read on. Still with me? Good. One of the biggest worldbuilding elements of the Coldfire Trilogy is that advanced humans colonize an alien planet (sci-fi) but through the extreme perils of the environment are reduced over generations to a 16th/17th century level of technology mixed with the natural magic that occurs on the planet (Fantasy). The books are very much focused on the effects of the alien humans on the native life on the planet and the ramifications of integration. The Stormlight Archive to me really seems like BS tackling these same themes with a different overarching backdrop and history (Adonalsium and pre-shattering Cosmere). If you've read Coldfire, what do you think? Not really a theory, just an observation to spark some discussion.
  10. I vote someone else. My nomination: Colonel Sanders. I see Hoid not only as someone who loves Fried Chicken, but also wants to introduce something to the world of Roshar that will blow everyone's mind.
  11. You make a good point. Theory modified to Nalthis native who converted to the Iriali religion while worldhopping to Roshar.
  12. Yeah Taln is second on my list. Seeing as he was basically THE character that the story revolved around in WoK Prime, I'm convinced he's super important.
  13. Thanks Pete! Was wanting to say something similar but you ninja'd me.
  14. Okay so this is totally off topic, but I was reading back a few pages where people were talking about the Iriali and their focus on experience... Guys, Jimi Hendrix was an Iriali world hopper. Carry on.
  15. I'm definitely feeling something pertaining to the Recreance in this...
  16. That's a very interesting question. I'm assuming no though just because what happened to them as far as we know is different than what happened to the parshendi.
  17. I'm getting more and more behind the Aimian angle. It seems to fit pretty well.
  18. My question is how exactly would this work with a living person that he is so close to? Would their words all sound like wind? Would their face or entire presence become a blur in his vision? This could get really weird.
  19. Well put. Have a thingy.
  20. " It is not a lesson I claim to be able to teach. Experience herself is the great teacher, and you must seek her directly." Referring to experience with a female pronoun is an interesting choice as well. Would this be more likely from a female author or a male?
  21. It will always be Hoid.
  22. Don't forget about Myrtlespren.
  23. Okay wow I don't even know what to say about all that we just learned. I'm really happy Vasher showed up and got some screen time. I seriously cannot wait for November!
