  1. @hoiditthroughthegrapevine Sorry, I missed that, but good of you to remind me. I checked it out now and I really feel like it fits Moash very well (great cover!). It does look pretty rad. I like his duet with Ialai :-D
  2. @hoiditthroughthegrapevine Thanks for the kind words :-) O-di-um was great as well. I like the part about nullfying his life, that is fun cause it's pretty true.
  3. Autonomy has got that covered already. Random concept: Aging (that is the word in english, right?) A Shard who wants to get really old, and just live as long as possible. It could also be called Experience, or something of that sort.
  4. So mods can technically break the rep system by upvoting everyone to God Beyond?
  5. Shouldn´t we call those Inquisitors?
  6. I give to you a song by the (not so) beloved Torol Sadeas, based on the Pokemon song, titled Sadeas (gonna rule ´em all). Spoilered for being long.
  7. Never thought about that, but good point. It could be Sand Mastery. In that case, he has access to one more magic system. Also, welcome to the forums!
  8. Autonomy is creating different aspects on different planets (she has one on the mostly unknown planet Obrodai as well). Patji is one of her aspects. It is hinted at in other WoBs and basically confirmed in an OB letter written by Autonomy (Autonomys authorship was confirmed by Brandon to @Chaos, I believe).
  9. Not really evil. As Mraize said, she was an enemy not afraid to use assassins, so they attempted to deal with her.
  10. They have a Mistborn reference as well. I think it is a random questline somewhere.
  11. I think this is because he trusts himself the most with actually succeeding, and not because he wants the glory of saving the world. That is Amaram. King T just wants to help, and he legitimately thinks that he asked for the best possible thing.
  12. I AM A GEONTARCH! NOW I SHALL RULE... wait, which nation is it again?
  13. For Talns madness, I'd guess that his spiritual and cognitive aspects have lost at least part of their connection to him, and to eachother, which is why he feels better when the Realms join together. First off, Taln is special even for being a soldier. Not all soldiers can tank torture for 4500 years. I don't think Adolin, Amaram, Teft, etc could do it, and they are all soldiers. So just picking ten ideal soldiers wouldn't have worked. Then, taking torture wasn't the only thing the Heralds were supposed to do. They would lead humanity, fight Voidbringers, think up strategies and such. Ishar was obviously a great thinker (he invented the KR), Jezrien was once a great leader. Vedel seems to have been the best healer. It is possible that someone like Chana or Nale was a better fighter than Taln. Their individual strenghts were most important when they were on Roshar, not in Damnation. I also think that Talns tankiness has more to do with his personality than the fact that he was a soldier. EDIT: @Leyrann, here you go:
  14. I've seen Season 1, but not more. It is fun to watch since I'm swedish. The pronounciations of the viking names isn't always very good :-D
  15. This sentence might be worthy of a spot in the slogan thread. Thanks for the reply!
  16. I read the "Kaladin should be grateful to me" lines as Amaram trying to convince himself of that it was the right thing to do. He is constantly trying to escape his guilt, much like Dalinar in the flashbacks. Furthermore, I don't think neither one of us will convince the other. I am a huge fan of Amaram and you are the opposite, pretty much. If you wabt to keep up the discussion, I'd be happy to go on, but I don't think either of us will change our opinion.
  17. @Calderis You have any idea about why Brandon did it then? Just to troll people?
  18. Is he still referred to as "the man who calls himself Taln" by the way?
  19. I agree with you, Taln is awesome. Him bonding a spren sounds likely. The only issue is how he is going to attract a spren if he is a rambling mess. Would that be possible?
  20. @Ymawgat I apologize for missing you above posts. You did address some of the same points I did. My bad. I now get what your problem is, and I feel that I am the wrong person to have an in-depth discussion of Eshonai vs Venli. As I said, I am not very interested in either one, but I can see why you would be disappointed in how the story turned out if you like Eshonai a lot (which I guess you do). I am a bit disappointed in how Amaram, a favorite of mine, turned out in OB, and I thus respect those disappointed by other characters in OB.
  21. Watching Shannara S1 and Knightfall. Will probably start watching Britannia and Vikings as well.
  22. Vin would have seen it as necessary, and she'd do it if she had too, which is exactly how Amaram sees his crimes. I also don't think that Amaram could see himself as a hero. He tried to, but failed, and was consumed by guilt, which led to Yelig-Nar.
  23. Brandon said we could pronounce however we like. If I recall correctly, he himself pronounces Kelsier and Vin like you would in english. But in-world, it is french pronounciation.
  24. Amaram isn't the only one to have that kind of worldview. Kelsier defenitely has it, and I would argue that Vin has it too. That she never killed the servants doesn't really matter. She stated to herself that she would if she gained something for it, and she is a very honest and reliable narrator. The worldview that makes you okay with killing innocents for the greater good is something that a bunch of characters have. Some of them are good guys, some are bad guys. The willingness to harm others isn't the point, nor do I think it is why most people dislike Amaram. The reason for why Amaram (in my estimation) gets rust is because people see his motives as stupid. We can identify with Vins willingness to escape Yomen: she needs to in order to save the world. We can forgive Kelsier, because he has understandable reasons for his hate, and also happens to be a charismatic POV character. Amaram is mostly seen from the perspective of people he has harmed, and people who hates him. I don't remember in which instance Amaram referred to his actions as a good thing, but what I think he means is that the prize was worth the cost. One thing that is abundantly clear with Amaram is that he hates his crimes. He wishes that he didn't have to commit them (compare this to Kelsier, who is happy about his murders). The point I'm trying to make is that a lot of people are okay with killing innocents for a purpose. The purpose may differ, and many find it hard to identify with that of Amaram. I think we have to understand that his purpose is a plausible, and important one, in his mind, just as the purposes of Vin and Kelsier are important in their minds.
  25. It sounds like he is just referring to the attribute of wisdom. Furthermore, I doubt Brandon would name a Shard Wisdom. It seems like a too "normal" word. I think something like Enlightenment is more likely.
