I'm having easter break this upcoming week. I will chill, hang out with friends and do some school-work.

I hope the market could open more for epic fantasy. Tech should be cheaper with time, and Game of Thrones is a huge hit. Amazon will do Lord of the Rings on TV. Shannara and The Magicians are also television shows, although Shannara got cancelled. Vikings is also big, and although it isn't fantasy, it is still medeival warfare, and has a touch of magic in it at times. In addition, Marvel has shown how successful a shared universe is, and everyone wants to replicate that. Cosmere could fit that bill brilliantly if it was done well. So, with luck, one company or another, who wants to compete with GoT or LotR will pick SA up. Edit: Netflix is doing the Witcher, which is another epic fantasy adaption for tv. So there isn’t really lack of interest in the genre.

Who is your LEAST favorite character in the Cosmere?
Toaster Retribution replied to Patar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think he is after Hrathen and Dilaf. And also, Iadon should count as an antagonist. As should Shaor. -
Werent those written around the time of Stormlight or Era 2?

[OB] Poll - Opinion on Adolin
Toaster Retribution replied to Dreamstorm's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think there are a couple of things: *Adolins position in the story. As pointed out by a bunch of people, Adolin is a major character, but also not major character. This is a wierd limbo for a character to be in, and because of that, Adolins significance is very debateable. We can tell how significant Kaladin is. We can tell how significant Lopen is. We can not tell how significant Adolin is, because his role is somewhere in the middle. *A lot of people love him, for different reasons. There can be a lot of reasons for liking a character, everything from liking his name to finding him complex. But the people who don't love him doesn't get the hype. I understand them, because I have a character I don't get the hype with either (Jasnah). This leads to debate. And Adolin can be seen as a flat character, depending on how much time you invest into reading about him, and analyzing him. For some people, he will be incredibly interesting, and for others, he won't. *He is part of the love triangle, one of the most polarizing things in the Cosmere. So I'd say it's a combination of his place in the story, as well as the fact that he can be seen as interesting as well as bland depending on how you look at him. And the ones who think he is bland (which is okay) do not get the hype. -
[OB] Poll - Opinion on Adolin
Toaster Retribution replied to Dreamstorm's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am very fond of Adolin, and he is one of my favorite SA-characters. I like the contrast he provides in regards to the other main characters, and I like how good of a guy he is. That said, he could have been written better in OB. The storylines he had were promising, but I felt like they never took him anywhere interesting. His POVs in Shadesmar were interesting, and the Maya-arc shows promise, but I feel like a lot more could have been done with the character. I'd happily put him as the main Edgedancer instead of Lift, who I didn't like much in OB. -
[OB] Will Shallan ever find a good (girl) friend?
Toaster Retribution replied to Dreamstorm's topic in Stormlight Archive
Rysn would be cool. I'll throw in Jenet as well. The stablemaster from WoR. She is fun. -
Very likely, considering that you are a member of this forum.

I hope it doesn't happen personally. I really like Nale, and the entire shard knows how fond I am of Amaram. So I feel like one of my faves being Unmade-corrupted is enough. Personally, I'd be happy with putting Yelig-nar into a random singer, or maybe Mrall, or another more minor antagonist.
-
I think someone will be able to resist dying from his corruption eventually. Odium seems to believe that it is possible. I have a theory (which I hope won't end up happening) that Nale will be Yelig-nars next host. I feel like he might handle it better than Amaram and Aesudan.
-
Probably in the same vein as ryshadium might be considered a race. Humans, aimians and singers/listeners/parshendi/parshmen/voidbringers are the sentient human-like races we have on Roshar. I like the idea with aimians being moon-people, but I don't feel like we have much fact to back it up with, as of right now.
-
I seem to recall Aesudan looking wierd when Kaladin ran from her. She started to grow a gemheart or something of that sort. And Yelig-Nar grants all surges. He is a really bad system hack, you might say.

[OB] The Grand List of Characters related Questions
Toaster Retribution replied to a topic in Stormlight Archive
Figured out some more questions: -Will we see Jenet the stablemaster again? -What is Aladars first name? (not sure if my english is correct here). -
@Firerust I am very grateful to you for creating the thread. I am very fond of my nickname, and I feel like a lot of people really like it. And furthermore, it was a really fun thread in general.

Be fair now: Mat and Lan are pretty cool.

[OB] Revolutionary plot twists of your choice
Toaster Retribution replied to TequilaJack's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'd bring Amaram back, and give him a redemption arc. -
I created Cosmere names for myself in the thread below, and came up with a wierd Threnody name for myself (I decided to take a cool-sounding word and slap something silly onto it). I got so fond of it that I picked it as my username.

Who is your LEAST favorite character in the Cosmere?
Toaster Retribution replied to Patar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This. Very much this. I also find her a bit overpowered at the moment. It feels like whatever the problem is, Jasnah can solve it. And the fact that I don't like her, but 90% of the community does, also means that I find her overrated, and that I don't really get the hype. -
[OB] Fatalistic view point
Toaster Retribution replied to Bendinfinities's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think BoM is great, but I prefer SoS, unlike the majority of the people. OB has its flaws, but I do prefer it over any Era 2 book. TFE is better though, but that one is just phenomenal. -
Who is your LEAST favorite character in the Cosmere?
Toaster Retribution replied to Patar's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Tonk Fah is just creepy, and I really don't like him. And while she isn't my least favorite by any means, I have to mention Jasnah as well. She is a fantastic character, and extremely well-written. But I just don't like her much. -
@The Thinking Herald Part of it is my bad, since I kinda realized it was a joke, but decided to do a serious post anyway. So, my bad. As the self-proclaimed Herald of Jokes I should have done better :-) Keep up your jokes. You never know how good they are until you have used them. Also, I'm 18, so the age difference between us isn't that big.

Whatever the rules that bind Odium are, I doubt that he would be stupid enough to be fooled by such simple ploys as everyone marrying into Kharbranthian families. The spirit of the agreement probably means Kharbranth as it was at the momement the agreement was made. No new buildings, or new Kharbranthians (newborn babies excepted) will be spared.
