  1. Haha. Its a bit like Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosling. Everyone gets those two mixed up as well...
  2. Edgedancer spoilers: Anyway, Szeth will probably find a way to wield Nightblood properly. I doubt Nale would have given it to him otherwise. So that is probably one ability he has/will get in Oathbringer.
  3. Considering your age, this is impressive. I didn't write like that when I was twelve (I'm eighteen in less than a month). Anastor was a pretty good character, and the world seemed interesting. Try not to confuse your readers though. For example, when you mention Sendas name the first time. I understand that Senda and the older man with greying hair is the same person, but it was still confusing. You need to tell the reader that the older man is named Senda before you use his name (you do this further down, when Kirin calls him by his name). Oh, and you might want to ask a mod to move this to the Writers Corner part of the forum. That is where thibgs like this tend to go. Good work though!
  4. @Calderis I do understand your reasoning. But there are some points to bring up anyway: Shallan doesn't know that Helarans Shards belonged to Kaladin. She just knows that Amaram killed Kaladins men to cover up a theft. So there isn't really that much of a reason for her to piece everything together. Because Shallan doesn't actually know that Kaladin has killed a Shardbearer. When it comes to the love triangle, this could add drama in lots of ways. I suspect that you are worried about Shallan growing angry at Kaladin, and starting to hate him. However, it is also possible that she starts feeling bad about loving him, since he murdered her brother (which would be more of an internal conflict). Or she just simply starts to dislike him in the same way she did with Amaram. She knows its unfair, but she just cant help it.
  5. I reread that yesterday actually, and the way its written, with Kaladin spending half a page of pondering over Helarans death, and wether she knows that he killed him, made me think that this will be important later on. That scene felt like a buildup to something. My personal view is that Shallan will feel betrayed. Yes, it isn't rational, but I think she will. Like others say, she trusts Kaladin, and suddenly finding out that he killed her brother, and witheld that from her will hurt.
  6. Im going to add some more: -Star Wars: Kylo Ren. I love how he hides himself behind his mask and cape, how he really is just a weak young man who wants to be Darth Vader. -MCU: Rocket Raccoon. I love raccoons and I love how he hides all his emotions behind anger and being mean. Plus, he is funny. Yondu is brilliant too. -Harry Potter: Fred Weasley. Funny.
  7. If this is the answer, this could be the Bashin thread! We could discuss our opinions on him and his potential as a character!
  8. The people in Arelon were on the shorter side. Debicki is pretty tall, and can be made even taller with filming tricks. I have a hard time seeing Seyfried in the role, but the only non-comedy role I've seen her in was Les Miserables, and I basically forgot her part of the movie... Oh, and if you referred to my Hrathen suggestion, I suggested Colin Farrell, not Colin Firth :-) I could see Charlie Cox doing the role though.
  9. You sure ordering it from the site would take months?
  10. Arclo vs Raoden: I am inclined to give this too Raoden. He can teleport to avoid the cremlings, and fire should be effective against them. Marsh vs Vin: Marsh with a shardblade and maybe steel compounding would stomp Vin. Zane vs Kelsier: Zane is... well, inzane. Kell is too clever, and too skilled for him.
  11. Basically, just list favorite characters from non-Brandon works (along with an explanation for why like them if you feel like it). I'll start: -A Song of Ice and Fire: Stannis. He is incredibly complex. Obsessed with justice, tricked into believing that he is the Chosen One, very conflicted, determined and unappreciated. In the TV-show, its Bronn, who I find is an improvement over the books. -Lord of the Rings: Legolas. Because badass (and yes, I prefer the movies in this case). -Hunger Games: Finnick, in both books and movies. -The Name of the Wind: Only read the first one, and Devi was by far the most enjoyable character. -Wheel of Time: I am only on Fires of Heaven, but so far my favorites are Lan and Mat. Lan for being a total badass, and Mat for being Mat. Now its your turn!
  12. I checked Akademibokhandelns webpage. Personally, I will either go to Sci-fi bokhandeln, or get a signed copy shipped to Sweden from Brandons site. Haven't really decided yet.
  13. I can understand the frustration, but I think you are underestimating how hard it is for Dalinar to deal with Sadeas. Dalinar never had proof for anything (I still think the assassin wouldn't have been enough). Without proof, he couldn't have pinned Sadeas down in a duel. I get the frustration over Dalinar not doing anything, but I simply think that there was very little he could do. I also think that after deciding to leave for Narak, Dalinar severely underestimated Sadeas as a threat. If he won at Narak, the war would be over. If he lost, he would be dead anyway. This might have been a mistake on his part.
  14. Interesting point here... could you make a spike out of a gemstone and use it for Hemalurgy? And in that case, could you trap a spren inside of it.
  15. Probably what Calderis said. Another guess is that the Heralds might have been behind the introduction of aluminum to the Rosharan people.
  16. Being honest now, Elhokar isn't the only one who whines about herdazian food (yes Kaladin, I'm looking at you).
  17. No, dont! There are so many things to keep up with in Brandons books. Things like this are bound to happen.
  18. @maxal I dont know how easy it would be for Dalinar to prove that the assassin came from Sadeas warcamp though. Sadeas himself would probably deny it, and try to cover his tracks (which I think he is pretty good at). Also, looking at the relationship between Dalinar and Sadeas at that point, I think that Dalinar would have gone after Sadeas if he thought he could manage it without splintering Alethkar. Sadeas living as long as he did had nothing to do with leniency on Dalinars part. He might have been too careful, and too afraid of accidentally ruining the kingdom, which might have affected his stance against Sadeas. And again, I suspect that the politically savvy Sadeas would be careful, and cover his tracks well, particularly after what happened in the arena. Furthermore, Dalinar again didn't know of Adolins meetings with Sadeas, and he couldn't predict that the murder would happen. Dalinar believes that Adolin would be able to rein in his temper, and not snap and kill Sadeas, probably because Adolin hasn't snapped and murdered people before. This might be were Dalinar is at fault, with having too high expectations for his son, and not expecting him to snap. But then again, Dalinar didn't know about the frequent taunting.
  19. @maxal I can understand your dislike toward Elhokar, and I certainly admit that he has his fault. I remain of the opinion that the environment he has grown up in, and the situations he is thrust into, makes it easier to forgive and understand his faults. I feel great symphaty toward the guy, and like him.
  20. I dont want resurrections to be common, and neither does Brandon, as far as I know. I feel like a big part of the suspense goes away if death isn't permanent. For example, whenever I hear that a character from Marvels comics is dead, I'm like: whatever, the character will return in two months or something, no biggie. I dont want that to happen to the Cosmere, but I do think Brandon is too skilled to allow resurrection to grow that huge.
  21. I doubt it would be that easy. Sadeas wouldn't have any reason to accept a duel with Dalinar, just because Dalinar accused him of attempted murder without any kind of proof. He would have to receive the Kings Boon in a similar way as Adolin did, in order to challenge Sadeas. And even if he did that, I doubt Sadeas would let himself be caught in the same trap twice.
  22. Welcome, hope you enjoy your stay.
  23. Kelsier is my favorite, but Elend, Shallan, Adolin, Axies, Mraize, Marsh and so many others are great as well. Scene... that is hard. Mistborn spoilers: Stormlight spoilers: Edit: Welcome to the forums!
