  1. Pretty much yeah. I guarantee, Rayse was a lawyer on Yolen. Note: If anyone here happens to be a lawyer, I apologize and don't mean to offend.
  2. I just wanted to make it clear to be on the safe side. Personally, I don't care much about vampires either way, as monster stories never were my kind of things. I like it when people use old tropes or monsters and change them up to create uniqueness. That said, undeniably evil and intelligent things are always worthy antagonists.
  3. I took the No One alternative to mean Jaqen from ASoIaF, so I voted for that.
  4. @Calderis Team Edward or Team Jacob?? Just to clarify though, vampire romance wasn't really a serious suggestion. A serious answer from me would be: no idea. Brandon already writes my preferred genres, so I am pretty happy.
  5. He should try vampire romance :-D
  6. Isn't this a little unfair against Dalinar? He couldn't act against Sadeas without starting a war that would splinter Alethkar, and most likely end up in a loss for him and his family. Dalinar was also unable to stop Sadeas from taunting Adolin. For one, he probably didnt know about it. Even if he did, he has little authority over Sadeas, and could hardly stop him from talking to Adolin.
  7. If someone wants a great example of opportunism, look no further than (ASoIaF spoilers): On a more Brandon-related note, Sadeas feels pretty opportunistic as well.
  8. I checked their webpage, and they had three different editions for it, with very wierd release dates. 1st of november, 14th of november and 16th of november... 1st of november cant be correct, but the other two might work. Those might be the Gollancz editions though, which are split into two parts. But you could definitely email Akademibokhandeln and ask.
  9. I feel like I have to jump in and try to defend Elhokar a bit. As @Contessa said, Elhokar hasn't had the best of circumstances. Far from it. And yet he is tasked to rule the Highprinces, who are very hard to control. He also suffers from paranioa. Yes, he is selfish. Yes, he can be mean. Yes, his decisions are stupid. I think the point is that Elhokar tries to do the right thing. He tries to be intelligent, he tries to make the right decisions, he tries to be a good king. Sometimes (Kaladin in the arena) his jealousy and anger gets the better off him, which he admits, both to himself and to Kaladin. The fact that he is able to confront a Darkeyes he has wronged, admit his faults and ask for help is actually admirable, and it is an instance where he actually attempts to change his situation. When it comes to wanting to look good vs actually help people, well, what role models did Elhokar have? Two blood-stained conquerors. A bunch of bickering, selfish politicians, in an environment where appearance means everything. If we add that to him always being put in someone elses shadow, well, it's no wonder that appearance is all that matters to Elhokar. Not everyone is Dalinar or Elend, strong enough to become good people in bad circumstances. Most people would be like Elhokar. I also want to add in that we don't know what Elhokar would do if he got respect and authority. We dont know how he would lead, or how good of a man he would be. I want to finish by pointing out one small thing Elhokar has done, by himself, that shows some kind of respect and care for others: he allowed the Darkeyes into the arena, at the expense of some Lighteyes. This is a small thing, but it shows that Elhokar has some care for others below him, and some ability to go against the wishes of others in order to do what is right.
  10. I was looking for a Surgebinding related WoB, and bumped into this: Why would Brandon RAFO this??? Is there something to Elhokar which we don't know of?
  11. This is badass. I hope this ends up true. I would love to see Mraize fight Radiants with a rifle. They won't bind themselves to the system: It wouldn't surprise me if the Ghostbloods know how, and actually wants to bond spren and become Radiants. I doubt it is their main goal, but it could be a perk for some of them.
  12. I wouldn't really cast Pedro Pascal as Marsh (I would like to see him try on Mraize in Stormlight though) . When it comes to casting Marsh, I would like to see Aaron Eckhart in the role. Lee Pace would be brilliant as well, but he is probably to good-looking. I could see Sean Bean, Viggo Mortensen and Daniel Craig as well. Actually, coming to think of it, Viggo doing Marsh would be really interesting...
  13. Zane would slaughter Iyatil, at least from the info we have right now.
  14. Even if I misremember about Marshs fight scene with Sazed, I think it likely that he has F-steel. Ruin picked him as his main Inquisitor, and had a lot of Feruchemical spikes around. I doubt that he decided not to grant Marsh the power. I wish I had my copy of WoR, but it is sadly in Poland, and I am in Sweden... anyway, @Calderis, I apologize for (maybe) accidentally misleading you about the fight with Sazed. Seems like you might need to edit your post again :-)
  15. What year gap is this? Never heard about it before.
  16. I honestly think that title goes to Blushweaver, but Adolin isn't too far behind.
  17. I strongly doubt this. He is at several occasions seen to be attracted to various women.
  18. Hm... I might be misremembering. I wish I had my own copy with me.
  19. Personally I find it interesting that so many disqualifies the Ghostbloods so easily. As @Extesian's WoB said, we know next to nothing about them or their goals. They are admittedly willing to kill eachother for power, and Mraize referred to torturing Shallan as "fun". However, we dont know their goal, or who they are. I think that they will end up being morally grey characters, and that some of them might have shots at becoming Radiants. When it comes to the Diagram, I really do believe that there is Radiant potential. The Diagrammists are not bad people, and while the Windrunners wouldnt accept them, others would. I like the Taravangian Bondsmith idea, and I also think that other characters in the organization has a chance (fingers crossed for Graves).
  20. In his fight with Sazed in WoA. If you have your book I would appreciate if you (or anyone else) could check it out to see that I dont misremember.
  21. I disagree with the sentiment that Amaram (or Elhokar for that matter) are completely selfish. In fact, I believe that Amaram thinks he is doing stuff for the wellbeing of others. Since he is very religious, he would probably think that the world would be better off controlled by the Almighty/the Devotaries. He probably thinks that it would be the best for everyone if the religion was running things. I strongly doubt that Amarams actions as a Son of Honor would be about himself. He is doing it for others, but has a very warped, zealous way of thinking, unlike most others.
  22. Lightweavers could probably lie in different ways though. They wont all be like Shallan. Amaram has in fact crafted the most convincing lie in the story so far: the one about his own honor. He fooled loads of people for years, and made everyone think that he was the knight in a shining armor. When it comes to lies, Amaram is the guy to ask. That said, he might lack the creativity (the Coppermind says he collects flutes, so maybe he is a secret musician?). I would, as I stated, like to see him as a Dustbringer, some sort of Vorin templar. That would be really cool. But I can see the Lightweaving route being taken.
  23. The number of Secret Societies on Roshar seems to be an important part in the story, and they all seem like antagonist material right now. However, if they are going to face off against our beloved Radiants, they will need some sort of power to be a threat (no Mraize, your blowgun won't do the trick) so it is logical to assume that some of the secret society members might end up as Radiants themselves. So, do you guys think that the Societies will get a bunch of Radiants? Will they try to hack the system, or get it the normal route? And which members have Radiant potential?
  24. I genuinely like them all except maybe Nale, whom I might genuinely like as well, depending on where his story goes.
