[Theory] Taln Wasn't the Herald Who Broke; It Was Chanarach

[Theory] Taln Wasn't the Herald Who Broke; It Was Chanarach

I don't see your point. What does someone having green or blue eyes have have to do with me being a light eyes. If your light-eyed dad had say blue eyes and your mother had green isnt it feasible you'd have either one? Or perhaps both of your parents had blue but your grandmother had green couldn't you have green? Is there a genetic Wob on eye color I missed? Evi had yellow eyes both her sons had blue. I'm not sure which of Jasnah's parents she inherited her violet eyes from but I doubt it was Gavilar. And if it was Gavilar then how come Dalinar has blue? It seems entirely possible that Shallan and her mother could have different eye color. -

My dad's eyes are brown, my mom's eyes are green, mine are blue. -

It'd be even more tragic if Lopen is just casually executed. I could see a good chunk of the wind runners dying in some helpless way after the contest. -

The herald madness reminds me a bit of the male magic madness in The Wheel of Time. -
It seems Taravangian would have taken much more aggressive action against hoid had he been able.

I personally am kinda hoping that the end of book 5 leaves things looking just impossibly bleak and hopeless.

Alethela was the silver kingdom specializing in war right? And didn't Dalinar mention that the thrill was the open secret of Alethi military supremacy. Perhaps Odium influenced the religion of the most warlike of rosharans in order to serve his future ends in the cosmere.

Odium's way out of the contract, from his point of view

Alright whatever I'll use your word choice. Honor and Odium. -

That is exactly what Rhythm of War tells us. The combination of Honor and Passion is War. -

Kaladin will take up the shard of Honor.
Unite Them replied to metaldragon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
If Kaladin were to ascend would he still be bound to his radiant oaths? That would be wild honor... But sworn to protect those that can't protect themselves... He'd be the god hero of the cosmere -

Would Nale make a good champion for Odium? Now that taravangian is Odium I feel like a more subtle choice would work better... Someone like Elhokar that Dalinar would have difficulty fighting on a non-combat level. But if we were choosing from the available fighting pool Nale would certainly make a fearsome opponent.

Nouf What does it mean that Kaladin is close to Honor, and how did that factor into him staying conscious while every other Windrunner in the tower didn't? Brandon Sanderson The nuts and bolts answer is, Kaladin basically was in a place where he could say the next oath, and should have said the next oath, and indeed knew the next oath, and it was on his tongue, and he refused to. So basically he was as close to being the next level of Knights Radiant as a person could humanly get, because everyone considered him ready except himself. He even knew that he was ready, but by saying it, it would require him to give up something that was precious to him, which is his feeling guilty. A precious part of his identity as he saw it. And he would have to relinquish that. That's the bulk of it. The other bulk of it is, the level to which Kaladin tries to protect, the level to which Kaladin exemplifies the Ideals of the Windrunners, and indeed of the way that Honor would have all Knights Radiant act, is so over the top, in alignment with the way Honor would like it to be, that it could even be considered unhealthy. Remember, Honor didn't always encourage healthy relationships with things like the power, particularly later in his existence. So either way, Kaladin is just kind of extra aligned with that intent, if that makes any sense.

I'm not sure how necessary it is to take all of the terms fully literally. To me taking up a crown could mean literally picking up a crown or it could mean taking up a position of high authority/leadership. Title could refer to Herald or Shard or something else. I have no idea what the tower could refer to beyond the Uritheru. And as has been mentioned above the spear seems self explanatory. Jezrien or Shard for Kaladin seem like the most likely interpretations of that death rattle. But hey its speculation. Is there anything else out there that could fit that interpretation?
-
fallen title could also be herald
-
sounds like a fallen crown
-
"He must pick it up, the fallen title! The tower, the crown, and the spear!" Pickup up the spear seems to be a relatively clear reference to our boy Kal. But apparently he must also pickup a crown (like Jezrian), the tower (Uritheru?), the fallen title.... shard maybe?

Taln as Champion, but for whom?
Unite Them replied to Maverick Mistborn's topic in Stormlight Archive
Taln never broke. We don't know what happened but after the everstorm the oathpact was fully broken and he escaped/was released/who knows. But he still hasn't broken. Questioner Taln. Did he actually ever give up? Or was it... Did he just get released when...? Brandon Sanderson You will find out, but Taln did not break. You'll find out how it happened, but Taln did not break.
