Cycle 4: The Late Captain [This time I will finish the writeup before closing the cycle... I hope] Rulo Message: I could be poetic, but I’ll leave that to my Ruloamigo. Aside from that, don’t trust people! Rulo Message: Ok, I now have some(hopefully) useful stuff. Last cycle I told DeTess and Godking that I was the Rulo. If I don't die this next cycle, they are pretty much cleared. If I am not lynched but am killed, then there is a good chance that at least one of those two are eliminators. If I happen to be lynched this cycle, then this won't really work, so just crossing my fingers that I'm not lynched. Shanerockes died of hypothermia. He was a Trader Sart was sacrificed to the mysteries. He was a Trader Rathmaskal was lynched. Cycle 3: A Frozen Soldier Finding another body did nothing to improve the mood. One trapper fled from the scene, through the thick kitchen door to the main entrance before another caught up. "Don't you see?" he exclaimed "This means Joe didn't do it!" "Let's talk about this. You wouldn't last ten minutes out there." Said the other. "Yeah, but Joe has survived far worse. He might still be out there." By this time others had followed them out of the kitchen - mostly to get away from the gruesome sight. What could it all mean? The argument intensified with every person who joined. Many argued that Joe, so brusquely sent out, would continue through the storm to a warm beach somewhere. Others were more skeptical and insisted they send a search party. "What about him?" The Captain finally suggested, indicating a larger man clearly of JinDo descent. "He could brave the storm!" "Do it." a voice no one recognized called from somewhere in the throng. Shien stayed silent. It was not wise to aggravate a mob after all. Now who was it that said that? An ancient elantrian? maybe one of the Shu-Keseg? It didn't matter. These people were more of the chaos and panic type. Fine. He was about done with these fools anyway. "I'll go" he said to the surprise of nearly everyone. "Come again." Ezira asked, in the act of pushing Lesa towards the door. "You'll die!" "The Captain ought to be the one to go anyway!" Lesa protested. "No, I'll go. But I won't be back" He closed his book, picked up his bag and unbolted the door. The storm howled at the freedom offered to come in. It instantly chilled those closest to the door to the bone. With one last look at all these fools, he set out into the elements. --- "Now that's done. What say we get a fire going?" Called the Captain. He didn't need to say much more than that and soon they had a real blazer going in the pit. Jehen did not stay to see it. He had been near the door as the storm had threatened to claim the occupants of the small outpost, but he couldn't bear the thought of fire! "Fools will burn the whole place down and then what'll protect them from the storm?!" He grumbled as he opened the door to his room... except this wasn't his room. Blood stained the floor and a variety of knives stabbed into every surface at irregular intervals. He tried to slam the door - to rid himself of the awful sight, but was pushed from behind. He fell to the ground his eye only inches from a double sided blade. A stepped into the room and carefully closed the door behind him. No one heard the screaming over the roar of the flames in the common room. ---- After the fire died out everyone adjourned to their rooms. They rose late the next day to find pieces of Jehen spread throughout the common room. The ashes were arranged in a giant Aon and on one of the tables a burned out log had carved into it the following message: Four things are for which we stand, First is Skill, to always be the best, Second, Uniqueness, to never be forgotten, Third is Luck, to never be outwitted, Last is Every stinkin' coin, to always be the richest! Together you can see the most important thing, A Rulo can always be your SULE! 2nd stanza of The Rulo's Ways ------------------------------------------------------- StrikerEZ was lynched! Cycle 2: A Joe in the Snow If tensions had been high before, they seemed insignificant compared to the panic finding a dead body created. Already sleep deprived and worried, the traders found it impossible to rest. How could something like this happen? The common room and hallways were awash with whispers. No one knew who to trust. About midday, Lesa called a meeting in the common room. "Clearly we have a murderer among us." She claimed. "And we have a responsibility to remove them!" She waited for the shouts of agreement to fade before continuing. "I believe Elandera was the next to go out after LenKai." She mused. "Let's kill her in return!" someone called. No one recognized or could identify the voice, but it put serious doubt in the hearts of others. "Maybe Lesa is trying to pin her own sin on someone else!" Shouted a man in captains epaulets who called himself Late. "Joe looks pretty shifty" a voice called again. "What did I do?" Joe asked "Nothing. You just seem bad." came the answer. "He's got a point" Jehen said from the side of the room. "You can't be serious!" Joe exclaimed, as two nearby traders hoisted him off the ground. The crowd moved not wanting to be a part of it, but silently complicit as he was carried to the front door of the outpost. One opened it as the men threw Joe outside and quickly bolted the door. --- So focused were they all on Joe, no one noticed Yretsym leave. This was madness. If you find one dead person is it right to kill another? They weren't even sure Joe had been the one to kill LenKai! Yretsym slipped through the heavy wooden door at the back of the common area into the kitchen hoping no one would see him go. He needed to think this through. If only he could puzzle out who the murderer actually was. He pulled out some parchment and sat at the cutting board making a list of everything they knew. He vaguely remembered what order people left in, but it would be good to cross reference that with what everyone else remembered. He stood and began to pace, trying to organize his thoughts. He walked the seven or eight meter length of the kitchen, turned on his heel and walked back to the cutting table. This elicited no new insight, so he tried it again. Returning to the table this time, however, the paper caught his eye. It had gone blank. All his notes evaporated into thin air. He knelt under the small counter to see if his paper had simply fallen to the floor, but no. He had only brought one in here anyway. A voice came from behind startling him into bumping his head on the underside of the board. He turned to see a trader with a veil over their face. The bumped head did little to ease the pain of the knife sliding through his ribcage. Moments later, a call for help went out from the kitchen. Another body discovered. A piece of parchment over his head pinned to the wall by a blood splattered knife. The knife was covered in ancient runes that could not be read, but the parchment contained only the aon "Eto." -------------------------------------------------------- Later that night a message was found carved into one of the tables in the common room: Do all y'all know who I am? I bet you do, I'm the crazy man! But, do y'all know why I am? Here's a little song for everyone, About us Rulo's, where we've gone, And why we do the crazy things we plan! 1st stanza of The Rulo's Ways ------------------------------- A Joe in the Bush was lynched. This was a great game. I'm sorry for never trusting you, @Zillah. Great job catching Elandera, @Young Bard! We had a pretty solid subset and I regret suggesting we keep our identities secret. I learned from this game that more information is far better than less when it comes to helping the village! Noble victory @Rathmaskal! well played! I don't know if I'd have lynched you if it came down to it. I'll definitely be watching out for you in upcoming games! Well played everyone. I had so much fun! Thank you for running this game @DeTess and @Araris Valerian! I'm sorry I clammed up a bit early on. It almost got me lynched a couple times and I'd have deserved it. I too would love to play a rerun. The options for the subsets are limitless and hearing that you almost ended up having a kill faction and pulled it when you didn't have enough players makes me really curious about all the other way this game could go. It is a great format that I might borrow from later on!

Long Game 64: Choose Your Own Sanderson Adventure!
Elkanah replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This sounds like so much fun! I'm a little worried that my game might run through the first cycle or two of this one so I'll ask for a spec doc/ pinch hitter position for now and we'll see what happens.- 421 replies

The wind howled outside the little outpost. The walls rattled and shook, but held against the brunt of the storm wall. Anyone would be a fool to come or go in this weather. The windows rattled and the occupants chatted late into the night. The air itself was restless and for many, sleep was out of the question. Instead, the travelers regaled one another with stories from their pasts. Some were humorous. Others were shocking. Near dawn, though, the numbers in the room began to dwindle as nerves settled a little and people left for their rooms. If the small outpost had held out this long, surely it could handle at least a few hours sleep. Lenkai was one of the first to yield to his body's demand for rest and turned in around what they reckoned was midnight. As he headed for his room, he somehow ended up down the wrong hallway. That was strange. Clearly way more tired than he originally thought, he tried walking back the way he came. Instead of leading him back to the well lit common room, he found the door at the end of this hallway was bolted shut. He quickly unbolted the door to find it led outside. Worry started digging at the back of his mind. The outpost only had one entrance that he knew about. "No." He reassured himself. This must be a side door for deliveries or staff. "No?" a voice asked behind him. Lenkai whirled around to see... nothing. No one was there. He turned back to close the door, and felt the knife as it slid into his back. A few hours later, Lenkai was discovered. His body was just outside of his room and had strange marks carved into the face and arms. As if we didn't have enough to worry about already. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LenKai was a normal Trader Clarifications I feel I need to make: Player List

Hey all! I'm super excited about starting this game and I can't thank you enough for your support. I'd like to have at least two more players to start the game and Ideally I'd have fourteen. So for any of you still sitting on the fence, I'd love to have you join. I'm willing to extend signups if that helps with anyone's availability, but if it still looks like no one will sign up, I can make ten players work.

LenKai looked back at the wall of ice and snow. Storms this late in the season were not unheard of, but the look of those clouds set fear in the heart. Traversing the mountainous region of Sel was difficult. Plenty of people die every year from starvation or exposure. Even experienced trappers had to be at least a little kayana to make your home up here. This storm looked more like the mountain was tired of dealing with those noisy neighbors and was ready to sweep them off. LenKai returned gratefully back to the small inn that served as a trapping outpost. It didn't look like much, but it was sturdy and would withstand the storm... he hoped. As he entered he saw a room full of trappers and travelers alike all huddled against the storm and the biting chill brought on by the winds of the weather changing. "Cheer up! This will be the last storm of the winter. I am LenKai, who are you?" ----------------------------------------------- Welcome to Quick Fix 43! You are a group of travelers, trappers, and occultists just trying to survive the last snowstorm of winter in a Duladel trading outpost. This storm coming through would certainly mean death for any who ventured into it. Unfortunately, staying here may be just as deadly because not everyone trapped in the outpost is here for refuge from the storm. Roles: All players: You sought shelter in this waystop, but found no rest. Between the frozen snow and the murderous zealots, survival is up to you. Work together to find the Followers of Mysteries and force them outside where they will freeze to death. To do this, send a vote through your GM PM once during each cycle. This vote can be changed until the cycle ends, does not count as an action, and will be made public at the start of each cycle. Only final votes will be made public." Follower of Mysteries: You will stop at nothing to learn the mysteries of Jesker. Each cycle you must send one vote for who to sacrifice to the GM (Elkanah) via your GM PM. This is in addition to your vote of who to throw out into the snow. The player with the most votes will be sacrificed to your mysterious purposes. Priest of Jesker: You have seen these signs before. As tensions rise and signs begin to worsen, you alone know how to find the Followers of Mysteries. You may investigate one player each cycle to learn if they are a Follower of Mysteries. Jindoese Soldier: You trained in the art of ChayShan from your youth and built up the strength to protect others. You may protect one player from Followers each cycle. Rulo: You are the fool who got themself stuck in a trading outpost you had no business being in. You're a bit kayana, so each cycle you scratch a message in the wood somewhere in the outpost, too bored to sleep. Seon Holder: The seon is a great tool for communication. As long as at least one Seon Holder is alive, there is no limit on PM's except they must include the GM. Order of Actions: Rulo Message Soldier Lynch Priest Sacrifice Additonal info: This is a quick fix with 24 hour cycles. Day and night are combined. Anyone who does not either talk to the outpost's owner (Elkanah), come to the community dinner meetings, or meet with other traders for two consecutive cycles will freeze to death in their room The game will start when we have enough players or next Wednesday the 18th at 10 pm MDT (4 am GMT) whichever comes second. Sunday March 22 for sure. Player List Spec Doc Quick Links

Thank you! Also, You're welcome or I'm sorry. (I am really bad at reading tone.) Also also, Unless there is another copper ferring who received The God King's last thoughts, I am the only one left alive who knows I was checked on the second day. It is possible that I was checked on the first day and Abstrusity was checked on the second. If I lied about that order, then I definitely am the player who switched teams, so by all means do not take my word as true until I most likely die tonight. Also given it's true, that doesn't mean it's right. I am happy to hear anyone who wants to refute me and I'm also fine being wrong. Honestly I just feel bad outing literally everyone. I was afraid all of this information was going to be lost.
-
Solid idea! I will see what I can do.
-
I think I am the last copper ferring and I am pretty sure I die tonight, so I am unkeying my copperminds so all of you have the information I have. We can't actually trust any of his scans except for the one on me. I'm'a lay all my cards on the table. I'm a copper ferring, so I was able to find the message collected on the chair of The God King. That was some grisly stuff. I felt all the terror as the agents prepared to take him away. He was able to leave some good information, though. In night one the research subset investigated Abstrusity and he was village. On night two they discovered my innocence hence their adamant protection. TGK was contacted by the communication subset from which he learned there are five subsets as follows: PR ("vote manip?") Legal ("Protection?") Communications (PM's) Research (Scan) Kidnapping (Roleblock). He also left a note listing roles as follows: Gold ferring- prevents death but not the lynch or arrest; Thug- ? ; ? - Kill role ; ? - Vote manipulation ; Copper - can speak to the dead. It's a little dated so here is the complete rules. There are five subsets There are four roles Each subset has one suit and two arrays. The suit has two votes and the arrays have one to determine how the faction uses its action. ------------------------------------------------ Because Abstrusity was checked as innocent on Day one, he could have been the one to switch teams. I also don't think Coda or Rathmaskal are bad. That leaves Alvron, Zillah, and Xinoehp. I have a very tenuous trust of Alvron for moving the vote onto Shanerockes instead of Zillah... although I don't 100% understand how you came to that decision. I guess I can't argue with results. So right now I think my suspicion order is Zillah, Xino, then Alvron. After that is Coda and Abstrusity. I wish you all the best of luck. (also sorry for anyone who didn't want to be outed. Most of this was determinable by just reading the thread, and I'm treating this as my will.) Oh, a couple more things I just thought of: Rath or Coda is probably the last thug, and Xino or Abstrusity are probably the last Gold Ferring.
-
Right, but who are the other three people you scanned?
-
Well, With only 6 hours left in the 48 hour day cycle, I'm afraid I'm going to have to pressure you @shanerockes Alvron Shanerockes Your scans could solve the game for us and the best reason for you withhold right now is if it incriminates your team.
-
Interesting... I happen to know who the last member of the research subset is. I would like to wait and give them the opportunity to come out and clear or condemn someone, but I thought the elims had figured out who the other two members of the research subset were the same way I did. Both TGK and Kidpen protected me for no reason other than that I was a "bad lynch." Which I really appreciated, but also tipped me off that they were researchers. That said, I would love to hear what you have discovered, researcher.

We are looking at doing a game where 17th sharders from silverlight come to Ashyn to try to determine more about how investiture works. Some local incubators stow away and are trying to kill the 17th Sharders to prevent others knowing about how power works on Ashyn. The village will be the 17th Shard The elims will be the Incubators It would be a long game The abilities would be based on the Ashyn magic system Incidentally, have we had an Ashyn game so we can see what has been done in the past? That's all I'll say for now. @The_God_King might elaborate more, but I don't want to say too much at this point.
