  1. When 'bonded' to an object, how long does this bond last? Do you have to maintain the bond in some way (repeated contact/proximity)? What is your clientele generally like? More middle class or more upper crust? What skills do you have to aid in investigation? Were those skills acquired through (formal) education or through personal experience? At what age did you leave France and did you have another occupation before becoming a detective?
  2. I've been wondering about this for a while actually, but does anyone know what the root word is for 'Realmatics'? Is it 'Real' or 'Realm'? There are arguments for both: On the one hand Realmatic theory deals with the structure of reality, so 'real'. On the other hand, said reality is composed of the three realms, so 'realm'. Knowing Mr. Sanderson's habits it could also a combination of the two.
  3. SHOW! ME! THE MONEEEEY!
  4. Hasn't it been confirmed that Kelsier is still hanging around as a cognitive shadow at the time of AoL?
  5. The screen displays "42" *inserts chewed bubble-gum*
  6. Let's assume everyone involved in the investigation is competent and that there are no rare mutations or medical anomalies. Those can happen (rarely), but don't invalidate the concept of dna evidence in general.
  7. While I don't discount your reincarnation theory completely, IMO Vin's talents and aptitudes can be explained in a simpler fashion. Part 1 Vin's quick progress in allomantic and other skills can be seen as her being remarkably good at learning. We know by WoB that she drew in a portion of the mists as a young child. We also know by other WoB's (about slivers, but they're transferable here) that drawing in a lot of investiture (or a portion of a shard) expands the mind. I believe Vin would have been rather smart to begin with, but with the residual effects of the mists added in, she would be remarkably good at assimilating new skills. Exactly as she is described in the books. Part 2 Your take on the Vin-Valette conflict, while interesting, kind of devalues Vin's internal struggle IMO. If seen as Vin adapting to new circumstances and accepting her changing personality, it's a story of personal growth. If seen as Vin initially struggling against a cognitive shadow that has taken up residence inside, it becomes a story of her fighting off an infection and eventually failing. Which is not saying it can't be true, but if I got to choose which story I'd like to read, I'd pick personal growth. Part 3 I'll pass on the other listed items, but I'd like to point out something about Minds powering Magic. If one defines a person's mind as their cognitive aspect (somewhat hazy on the Realmatics myself, but I think that's at least somewhat right) and you propose that the transference of experience into Vin was powered by a Cognitive Shadow burning up its mind, wouldn't the Shadow's experiences be burned up (as I can't really see those as anything but cognitive), leaving nothing to be implanted in Vin? I'll skip over parts 4,5 and 6, since I don't see anything that I can confirm, refute or offer any alternatives to. While I don't agree with your theory, I accept that it's a possibility. I admire the amount of effort you've put in and hope to read more of your ideas.
  8. I'm a little rusty on conversion rates. What are fifteen pounds sterling worth in 1903? If you go shopping with it, what can you buy? And how much does, let's say, a regular factory worker earn? Were you ever part of his/her majesty's armed forces, and where (if ever) did you serve? (in case reference is required)
  9. It could also simply mean "kill the new radiants". No need to recreate the recreance.
  10. You get Nalthis. *inserts cosmological cosmerological constant*
  11. If pre-Harmony rules still apply, the Well of Ascenscion probably won't 'exist' for another 700 years (give or take) because it needs to recharge/refill (at the time of W&W we're 300+ years into a 1024 year cycle).
  12. On the other hand they might reinforce each other. One of the effects of kandra blessings is to remove a mistwrait's blockage between the Physical and Cognitive realm. Dakhor bones are made to draw energy from the Cognitive realm (aka the Dor). It's therefore very possible IMO that the blessings would actually boost the Dakhor bone powers. How this would affect the Kandra's cognition is a bit of a wildcard, but I agree it probably won't be pretty.
  13. Sure, feed 'em all 16 metals, have a seeker on standby and touch 'em with a nicroburst.
  14. Bronze savants with feru-copper. Seeking over a large area and storing the results in copperminds. If a crime is committed using allomancy they can go back over their records of that moment and if their Seeking is good enough they might be able to match the allomantic signature to a specific person. This might be possible with mechanical allomancy too (I refuse to use the term mistrials) if you construct a device that detects allomantic pulses as bronze does and outputs the result like a seismograph (or similar). This also has the benefit of being more objective than an actual seeker.
  15. The Atium gaining sapience would completely invalidate the Ruin/Preservation history, wouldn't it? If the Atium could become a self-sufficient entity, why would Preservation have gone to the trouble of sacrificing himself to lock away Ruin's mind? Additionally, even in it's entirety the atium cache was only a minor fraction of Ruin's power, only enough so that both shards would be equally 'strong', so the cache might not have contained enough investiture to become self-aware.
  16. Oh, great prejudiced one, are there any dietary restrictions placed on your priest caste and the other castes of the Chaod Leu? (or the Chaod Leu as a whole)
  17. Ooh, creepy Nina flashback just now. That's fine, I don't need to sleep tonight.
  18. ... and you're in my ear! Bert and Ernie are like Type III BioChromatic entities.
  19. Who is Wayne's favorite Mistborn character? ...Wayne...
  20. They make things go negative. Youth is like otters.
  21. You are the weakest link. Edit: Goodbye.
  22. How about Odysseus, Siegfried and Beowulf? edit: also Siddhartha aka Shakyamuni aka Gautama Buddha.
  23. Since Wax fought 'Hundredlives' on top of a moving train, it went on for several miles. Copper? I hardly even know 'er! Lifecoach says: 'Be true to yourself.' Aluminum ferring responds: 'I want my money back.'
  24. On the other hand, the Radiants Dalinar witnessed abandoning their shards in his vision of the Recreance were confirmed to be Windrunners and Stonewardens IIRC.
  25. Usually either over- or underexposed. (and some are worth a 1000 words) Shardworlds are like koala bears.
