I suspect that no form of accessing the Dor corresponds to any real-world programming language. Besides, Forgery is clearly based on Unity.

It's a reasonable inference, presuming of course that sucking in Stormlight isn't as intuitive as Kaladin and co. make it look like - at least without spren assistance.

I do seem to recall a magic system where one made potions, but they wouldn't "work" until they were frozen and thawed out. That doesn't seem to gel with the Selish magic systems we've already seen, though.

Which post of his? I'll take care of it.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...

I like those covers, actually (Speaking as an American with the generic action scenes gracing his Mistborn covers). Minimalist and evocative, like those "adult covers" one puts on Harry Potter so one doesn't get embarrassed reading them on public transit, especially that Final Empire one. Although I will admit they could have displayed a bit more imagination than "Let's zoom in on Vin's face one notch every installment!" (I like the ones the UK covers they cooked up for Wax and Wayne for that reason: AoL and SoS have this keyhole motif going on, which I really like) -
Like I said, the process is dark and full of RAFOs.

I was just thinking, that with a new book release fast upon us, and with the relatively hefty price tag associated with new cosmere tidbits, that we might collect the questions that we ask him in our books. There might even be time to wordsmith them for maximum output. Some categories to start us off: Cosmere (Realmatics questions, mixing magic systems, etc.) Mistborn: Stormlight: Elantris/Emperor's Soul: Other (Warbreaker, cosmere short stories, etc.) Rithmatics: Epics: Wheel Of Time: SF shorts (Perfect State, Firstborn, Defending Elysium): Miscellaneous:

The counter-backstab is much more plausible than the other thing, because handing the cosmere over to Odium just seems like a bad idea all around.
-
And where, exactly, would this hypothetical motivation end? In this scenario, Autonomy has to know that Odium can and will backstab him the moment it becomes convenient.
-
My point being that they might need to be on Scadrial to do so in the first place, regardless of how Invested they are in that world. That process is dark and full of RAFOs. (also there's the possibility of a Shard cheating the system somehow, to produce an anomalous godmetal, which, again, is RAFO-tastic)
-
Might not work - magic on Roshar doesn't focus on metal like magic on Scadrial does. Note that the voidspren that gave the Parshendi stormform was encased in a gem.

Maybe he got help with a warm-up act or two, but once his Shardic bodycount got above 3, I'd be baffled if he could find Shardic allies. Shardic allies that knew about his rampage, that is.

Oh wow, those are nice. You mentioned Shadows of Self hadn't been published in Poland yet? -
Besides, IIRC we got some rather big tidbits last year (The nature of the Moon Scepter, and the fact that Endowment's Shardholder is a woman named Edgli are the two biggest, I believe), so we can exercise a bit of patience here.

3. Except that Ruin could and did masquerade as many people's consciences. Again, if the culprit is manipulating Paalm in any verbal way a la faux!Kelsier and faux!Reen, he's telling her things that she wants to hear, and things that she could mistake for her own conclusions. 4. There was a distinction in my previous post that might not have made it across - Odium can't charm and manipulate his fellow Shards in the way he could the mortals of a particular Shardworld. Actually, we may have to tend toward the "coarse and hateful", which doesn't entirely invalidate the thrust of the argument re: Paalm, as we've heard that Odium was driving Shallan's father to madness.

Reason 2 why I don't like Pact: it taints Wildbow's other stuff by association. Trust me, Twig's got some of the magic back. Sy (the viewpoint character and 1 of 5 deuteragonists) is a joy to read, unlike the previous protagonists, who were angsty, reckless, hot messes, the both of them. Trust me, give it an arc's try. Even if you're grossed out by the cat-snake.

First let me say that I think the culprit is indeed Autonomy, and I'm playing devil's advocate with this part in order to strengthen the case against him. Because requoting everything would be a pain and a half, let's take this step-by-step: 1. Odium is very busy on Roshar as is. We still have 3 books of Stormlight to get through before Wax and Wayne happens. More than enough time for the balance to shift enough for Odium to break away. 2. Odium is terrified of Harmony, so would not be likely to challenge him in person, especially not on Harmony's own world. However, he might send a friend to do the dirty work.... Assuming that Odium has friends in the first place. Admittedly, we don't know the personality of his Shardholder (beyond Hoid's... biased account) but millenia of slowly being corroded into a force of hatred doesn't exactly leave one with the ability to make friends and influence people. Besides, in the circle of cosmere-aware people who know of Odium, very few of them would count themselves his ally after he murdered 2 Shards on their home turf, and then did repeat performances first on Roshar then on another Shardworld that Brandon hasn't published yet, if he ever will. (He said something along the lines of "Odium has killed at least one Shard that you don't know about", but I don't remember when or where) In addition, Odium may be waiting until Harmony's opposing Intents start to backfire before moving in for the kill. 3. Paalm's entire purpose is to set herself and everyone else free of Harmony's influence and control. If another shard was controlling her, it would logically follow that she would reject this control as well. Unless that shard was influencing her towards "freedom"... Ruin had quite the silver tongue when faced with those who didn't know what he was. If it's Odium, he could just as easily be better than Ruin in that regard.

I considered bringing that up, but it doesn't quite answer the question of whether kandra would pursue romantic entanglements with each other, though.

I don't know if there's been a WoB on the subject, but their minds appear undiminished, technically speaking, from the loss of Breath (see also the philosophical discussion where Jewels smacks down Vivenna's arrogance re: the Iridescent Tones). It's the Spiritual Aspect that's been neutered.

Who in the world writes those Allomancer Jak stories? We have an Investiture-powered gun, wielded by someone using epithets from Threnody, that appears to fire shades at people.
-
It's shedding blood, any blood, I thought.
-
Well, it depends on the kandra, like everything else about identity, I'd assume. Kandra are (by virtue of their biology) basically genderfluid, but MeLaan defaults to female and TenSoon defaults to male, so far as we're aware. We don't know which gender they're attracted to, but it's not out of the question that there'd be a kandra who defaults to one gender and is attracted to the same gender.

What? Where was that, and how would broadsheets in Scadrial know what's happening in the Scadrian Cognitive Realm?
