  1. Unless you use something like a harpoon that punches all the way through the heart a la the original method of hitting all the bind points on the heart at once. You'd still need incredible aim in order to steal it reliably, but there you are.
  2. He's going to insert it into the Arcanum Unbound short story anthology - where he's putting all the Cosmere short stories like Sixth of the Dusk and Shadows for Silence. It's essentially an incentive for those of us who've read all that already to buy the collection.
  3. 1. Breaths, no (fairly certain this has been asked). Divine Breaths, maybe. 2. All of them, along with Elantrian pallor and long life. 3. We don't know, although it may be more difficult for the spike to penetrate in the first place. 4. Feruchemist before WoA, (or at least a Luck Feruchemist), both Allomancer and Feruchemist afterward. 5. Read Bands of Mourning for one trick he might have used. 6. It has been speculated that Shallan's photographic memory is her "effect", and we haven't seen anything that sticks out as a Twinborn's effect (the most likely candidates, Wax's "steel bubble" and Wayne's facility with disguises, have been explained as steel savantism and mundane method acting, respectively) 7. Something Something spren, something something RAFO. 8. There's more to it than that (Hoid tried that exact sort of thing to become Elantrian, which failed) 9. Any Investiture can theoretically power any other Investiture. As with many things, however, the devil's in the details. 10. Liquid Investiture. You can also see Hoid apply it to his boat "Spanky" and to his oar while talking with Kelsier. 11&12. We don't know, Brandon's refused to answer. 13. Depends on the ChayShan kata. We only saw the one for fighting prowess (which BTW also involved some super speed, IIRC) because that was what the situation called for. We don't know how versatile ChayShan is compared to AonDor, just that they follow similar practices.
  4. They'd need to die first to become Greater Dead, and I think the only way one can die in Death is the Ninth Gate (could be wrong on this point). If they were sent there via Astarael, they are technically still alive. Sabriel's exploits show that one can visit Death and still be alive. And while she might not die permanently, if she is sent to Death via lethal damage in life, I'd consider that a loss.
  5. Sidebar: crem is probably not lighter than water because the Purelake isn't covered in crem.
  6. I've always respected Yahtzee, mainly because despite his occasional gaffe, his complaints about games are usually spot-on.
  7. Probably 3 or 4, what with dark space being compressed so much. I mean, there's already a bit of 4 in the fact that a Cognitive Shadow can just walk off the edge of the world without any change in terrain or anything beyond the sudden disappearance of the ocean forest. A world which, might I add, is spherical.
  8. Once a spike is implanted in a victim, its Investiture activates and rewrites the victim's Spiritweb to have whatever quality the spike was charged with. Leechers do not appear to affect Investiture being actively used in a soul (not to be confused with Investiture used by a soul - e.g. Allomancy), although that may be a function of allomantic strength as you posit. Therefore, spiked creatures would not keel over upon contact with a Leecher.
  9. Assuming of course that Vasher would consent to make another Nightblood in the first place. (The prospect of making more of them was what led him to kill his wife, remember)
  10. The bind point on the recipient does in fact matter. Otherwise there'd be no need for Steel Inquisitors to have spikes driven through their eyes.
  11. I was wondering if anyone would get that.
  12. There's more to it than that, or Hoid would be an Elantrian right about now. And the nicrosil trick only works for a nicrosil feruchemist (or a full feruchemist, given that we're aiming for jailbreaking the metalmind that happens to contain offworld powers) who also happens to be an Awakener/Radiant/Sand Master/what-have-you.
  13. Upvotes away! Also, everyone here with a reddit account has even odds of having that thread open 24/7, so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. (Also, the bit of the aon that "subtly incorporates" pi shows up in loads of places throughout AonDor, so not only are you a part of math, you're also a part of spirit, justice, and air, among many many others)
  14. Astarael isn't entirely broken here, now I think of it. Lots of Sabriel's potential opponents would have the strength of will to at least put up a good fight against the 9 precincts of Death (Rake and Envy sounding like they'd be two of said potential opponents), and Sabriel dies to more things in precincts 1-8 than in life (lethal injuries would work like the Hoed, except shock would wipe out the pain - and the river sending the dead to their final destination would magically alter itself to catch her and carry her away). Mogget is either useless or a WMD, which means that he'd snark, do cat things, and potentially beat up people in his dwarf form, or he'd wipe out everything in a block radius at minimum (including Sabriel, depending on when exactly she's being drawn from in the series). What Sabriel has is the ability to 1) force her opponents to get drowsy (Ranna), the weaker-willed ones falling asleep on the spot, 2) return any beaten enemy or enemies she wants to spare to Life (Mosrael), 3) force weaker-willed opponents to move forward (Kibeth), 4) temporarily induce mutism (Dyrim) or 5) amnesia (Belgaer) in opponents, and lastly 6), Astarael, which allows Sabriel to bring the fight to the battlefield of her choosing. (Saraneth, the binding one, doesn't work on the living) All of which are contained in bells that she has to physically ring, and some of which can betray her by ringing early - before she has a chance to mentally shape the powers. (This is especially problematic with Astarael, which can just as easily send one to a slippery footing between precincts 8 and 9 as it can send one to precinct 1) Not to mention, of course, Charter Magic which is tailor-made for dueling. She'd be difficult, but not impossible to beat, I'd say. She doesn't have the incredible reaction time of, say, Croup and Vandemar, or the underhandedness necessary to exercise her ( admittedly immense) advantages without warning. EDIT: Honestly, Vin and Elend have a lot of abilities too.
  15. I don't think Reen ever knew Vin was ever an allomancer. I'm not certain he knew allomancy was a thing skaa could have- the only places where the skaa see it are when noble-affiliated Mistborn go out on missions or when Inquisitors or obligators come to town.
  16. Well, obligators did have the distinct advantage that Ruin couldn't assume direct control of them at the drop of a hat.
  17. Or, just to make it simpler for flag makers, why not have the honorblades sigil thing from the book in blue (for Honor) on a green field (for Cultivation)?
  18. Better question: Do we want Vin and Elend to continue suffering the indignity of terrible writers who stop before the ending just to cover their own hind ends?
  19. Magic abilities you'd need a nicromind, physical abilities you'd need to store your memories of doing so in a coppermind.
  20. Szeth's U ability is off-color. "Target creature can't block" is primarily red. " UU: Tap target creature, it doesn't untap during your opponent's next untapped step" is a better fit, I'd say.
  21. Did you hear any follow up questions to the one regarding Hemalurgy and Surgebinding? Namely, the health of the spren, post-spiking?
  22. I was under the impression that copper spikes the capacity for memory and intelligence out of a victim - as part of a kandra Blessing. Not something specific.
  23. Those footprints are not in the published draft, as the snow they would have been left it is up in the Terris Dominance.
  24. Why those colors? Preservation is linked with white, and Ruin with black. And Roshar's flag is the glyph for Honor's name with a ketek circling it, both in blue on a green field.
  25. Bands Of Mourning spoilers:
