  1. My first thought is "I think you and @FeatherWriter could have quite the conversation." My second thought amends that to "will have", because I have just duly summoned her. (She's got a quite extensive theory based in and around the Vorin legends of the Tranquiline Halls)
  2. I believe "Snapshot" will be bundled in that anthology, which is a Sci-fi non-Cosmere novella.
  3. If that is the case, then she will feature heavily in Dragonsteel, albeit not as heavily as the main 16 and Hoid. In which case, she is definitely RAFO bait.
  4. Please cite the WoBs (just a link to them would suffice at the bare minimum). I do not recall seeing the quote specifically tying Nalthis' Focus to the Commands. Neither Voidbinding nor artifabrication appear to require Oaths (otherwise Eshonai would have been required to speak an oath as she bonded the hatespren, or Navani an oath to trap a spren in a fabrial's gemstone), so Roshar's Focus cannot, therefore, be the Oath in the same way that Sel's Focus is the symbol, or Scadrial's the metal. Furthermore, Shadows of Self Oak Brook Signing, question 14 states that "spren existed on Roshar before the Shattering" of Adonalsium. It seems plausible, given that WoB, that Roshar's Focus is in fact the spren as opposed to the oath. Soulstone is not, necessarily, required for crafting soulstamps - Shai's dismissal of wood to the arbiters was due to it being harder to carve precisely than soulstone. It very well may be a Manifestation of the Dor. I like the system, though, it makes thinking about this sort of minutiae much easier.
  5. The steelpush-Ironpull demo should be the fight with the ingot. Otherwise, I'd watch the shock out of that movie.
  6. I'm trying to think of a way to use silhouette and negative space to communicate something about these hypothetical movies. Secret History, For instance, has the easy route of a close up of Kelsier in the Cognitive Realm, but instead of his face it's a view into the Physical Realm during some familiar scene. Hrm... Maybe instead of a close up, it's Kelsier crouched down, brushing misty hair away from a misty face. Through his silhouette, we can see his dead body, being held by someone, and through his hand, we can see a glowing point of light through a sweep of short black hair. Tagline: There's always another secret.
  7. Nalan brings this up, expressing doubts about Szeth's "ability to... judge." I think the initial takeaway from the scene is that Szeth is convinced (rightly) that he was not at fault for becoming Truthless, and therefore (perhaps less rightly) he's not evil enough to kill himself with Nightblood. "I was right, and they... they were wrong." That being said, I really hope he takes a little responsibility, regardless of whether or not Nightblood is in play.
  8. oh. Where's the embarrassed emote when you need it?
  9. Depending on the size of the piece of metal used as a metalmind, it need not be burned "all at once," and even then, I assumed that the rate of burning was identical to the original Allomantic metal. The attributes stored in the metalmind in question are then converted into, essentially, another Allomantic power. To use goldminds as an example: burning Gold has the power of "see past versions of yourself", while burning a goldmind with your health in it has the power of "tap health." Then other necessary parameters (e.g. "how much?") are set to "Yes," which results in the ridiculous healing factor you saw with Miles Hundredlives. Essentially, Compounding is using the Investiture of Feruchemy to make another set of Allomantic metals. Finally, the health that you are "tapping" when you burn a goldmind is not your health, per se. It is Investiture from Preservation that, because you are burning one of your goldminds, mimics your health in all the respects that your soul cares about.
  10. I'm chagrinned to note that I have completely forgotten what Dox actually contributed. I know he did something, otherwise he wouldn't be present during the briefing in the first place, but for the life of me I can't remember what. EDIT: Just remembered, he was the team Smoker.
  11. I think he went to meet up with Taln, when he arrived at that village at the end of the book.
  12. I just checked - it's not confirming an element of a psychiatric patient's testimony, it's giving elements of your personality to others so they, in retrospect, can understand better where you're coming from (e.g. Ashravan's temper, which Gaotona notes mirrors Shai's).
  13. Heal Marsh Hurt Shallan 1. Kaladin 90 HP 5. Shallan 13 HP 20. Marsh 22 HP
  14. The "Anticipation" is the foretold coming of the Hero of Ages, not a Shard. (Of course, that doesn't preclude a Shard called "Anticipation", but not one connected to Scadrial) Note also the presence of the term "Holy First Witness," which is a title that Ruin inserted into the text to make it look like Vin was the Hero and Sazed her herald. (The original text read "I thought myself the Announcer, the prophet foretold..." etc.)
  15. WoK. One of the three worldhoppers in the Purelake.
  16. Heal Vin, hurt the con-artist. 1. Kelsier 19 HP 2. Kaladin 29 HP 3. Vin 10 HP 5. Shallan 22 HP 20. Marsh 18 HP 25. Jasnah 27 HP

  18. He mentions that his mom was a Darksider when Khriss and her entourage show up.
  19. "Pulling an Ati" only refers to retconning the Diagram while it was being written, which Ruin could do only because he was so Invested into Scadrial. We know that Mr. T's major source of Intel is an Unmade, so we know Odium's influence is creeping in around the edges.
  20. In Brandon's defense, he's been much better about updates than, say, GRRM. That'll help stave off fan resentment and disillusionment.
  21. I've said too much already, but he's of middling importance. He has a minor role in all three Era 1 books.
  22. Technically, the originals, and yes.
  23. Granted. Now you can no longer sleep. I wish I could realize the solution to any problem with a moment's thought.
  24. Speaking of characters with personality...
  25. We have received no such confirmation. We simply learned about Autonomy around the same time as SoS came out with its anomalous godmetal, so people (including myself at the time) jumped to conclusions.
