  1. I love Gravity Falls! I only actually sat down and watched the whole thing a couple months ago but I'd seen bits and pieces and episodes every so often since it premiered (which everything makes way more sense in the right order). But after having it pop up over and over on my tumblr dashboard I just had to watch it so I could stop getting spoiled on stuff. My favorite part is while the show is ostensibly "for kids" it doesn't really pull back any of the punches? Like kids are capable of understanding a lot and the show acknowledges that while still maintaining a childlike whimsy. I can't wait for the new episodes (which I think start next week?)
  2. The cover art and release date for Calamity, the finale of the #1 New York Times bestselling series, "The Reckoners", have finally been revealed, thanks to the Amazon.com product page. We can expect Calamity to hit bookstore shelved February 16, 2016. (And Peter has confirmed that this is the real release date, though it still could move by a week.) The cover art is also pretty awesome (and thankfully matches the Firefight cover design). Also included on the page is the cover blurb: Check out our forum topic here to discuss the cover art and blurb!
  3. Yeah this is just a continuity error. Which Brandon further confuses by deciding Elhokar has green eyes in WoR. Canonically though, Elhokar now has green eyes.
  4. So Amazon's product page for Calamity has revealed the US cover art, and it's pretty awesome: So what do people think? Edit: There is also the book blurb:
  5. Marsh is the one person we explicitly know /didn't/ write the book: (source)
  6. I would recommend reading the sample chapters Brandon has posted of Liar of Partinel. I personally feel that they make it exceedingly clear that Hoid is referring to Yolen when he refers to the place where "two lands meet and gods have died".
  7. Brandon's online store unveils new hardcover editions of Legion and Legion: Skin Deep with fantastic new cover art! This is particularly exciting as Legion has not had a hardcover in print for a number of years. The Legion hardcover is priced at $15 USD, with Legion: Skin Deep at $20 (a fair enough price change given that it is about twice the length of the original). I for one can't wait to see how these will look on my bookshelf! Check out our forum topic here to discuss the new covers!
  8. So I was checking on some stuff in Brandon's store and I came across new hardcovers for Legion and Legion: Skin Deep: Legion: Skin Deep: I knew that they had been working on these, and I'm glad to see that they are finally out. So what do people think of the new art?
  9. As for my reaction to being Chaos' favorite "-writer":
  10. I... completely didn't even think of checking Amazon... Oops? But yay for definitive confirmation! Also can't wait to see the cover! I do want to thank you for everything that you do to, I don't know what we would do without you! Hopefully things calm down soon.
  11. So this is still not an "official" announcement, but it is at least a verbatim primary source:
  12. This is not the place to put this actually. The relevant thread in the Events and Signings thread is. People have been keeping a close eye on the AMA thread so we are up to date on everything out of it (including these answers, sorry).
  13. To my knowledge this is a misrepresentation of what is happening, "worldhopping" is not instantaneous like you imply here, the worldhoppers do still have to travel that distance, but do to the nature of the Cognitive Realm it is greatly reduced.
  14. It's never been explicitly confirmed, but this line of speculation is something that already happened when got the first versions of this chapter years ago.
  15. I'm really bad at favorites, I generally don't like things with that great of intensity? I like a lot of things but I can't really rank how much I like them in relation to each other? I'll go with The Emperor's Soul because do think that is the beautiful of the cosmere books, but I also have a fondness for Elantris (it's hard not to when your name is literally an Aon) but it's not like I like it more than the rest of the books? As for characters, maybe Hoid? In that he's the character I want to know the most about? But like pre-Tindwyl Elend is probably the character I identify with the most so I really like him as well.
  16. you can either put <spoiler></spoiler> around the text in question (just replace the <angle brackets> with [square ones]). Otherwise you can go to the special BBCode button (just to the left of the font selection), spoilers is an option there. IIRC the new version of the site will have a spoiler button on the main toolbar though. On a side note, that chapter that was posted today had an earlier draft that was posted during the 2013 Steelhunt, so the fact you bring up is something people have discussed before. Also keep in mind that things may not be as certain as you state. After all
  17. No it is not, The Chronicles of Amber was written by Robert Zelazney, darniil is only using a concept from it as a metaphor.
  18. Possible error, when Steris is describing possible interruptions she mentions "Or Father Bin will inexplicably turn out to be an old enemy and try to murder you instead of performing the ceremony." but later she mentions that Wax needs to ask if Father Demoux will perform the ceremony?
  19. So I'm not sure we have explicit WoB that "Honor died after the Recreance" but we do have WoB that it happened after Aharietiem, emphasis mine: (source) Also keep in mind the visions that Dalinar receives from Honor, most of which are presumably events Honor himself witnessed, one of which is of the Recreance. You are likely correct that spren started bonding humans in imitation of the honorblades, but Honor himself admits to being surprised by it, implying he was around to see it.
  20. You are thinking of Renoux, who OreSeur imitated in book one as part of the plot. Demoux was a member of the resistance's army, who went on to become a general.
  21. Eh I don't know about that. Like the hit was definitely orchestrated by Edwarn but I think the spy was unrelated to that? Like why send in a spy when you are just going to kill everyone, easier just to capture a few and torture them? I do think that the kandra is working for Harmony, since Winsting dismisses the notion of him watching as "superstitious nonsense", that's just a fool tempting a "god".
  22. @Argent the aluminum foil hat thing is in Alloy so we've known about that for a while. On the etymology of Catacendre: "Cendre" is the french word for ash and "cata" is a latin root meaning "down", so maybe "Ashfall" would be a descent translation? Of course ash fell all the time during the TFE-era and the Catacendre only took place at the end, so perhaps it refers to the particularly dense ashfalls that began after Ruin was released? On the "spy": Did anyone else get the feeling she was a kandra?
  23. So this thread has inspired me to get writing again, I'm WeiryWriter over there as well.
  24. Most of the spren we see are made of some mixture of the investitures of Honor and Cultivation. Some are more of Honor, some Cultivation. Some spren definitely existed before Honor's Splintering (since that only happened after the Recreance) but we think that they are more common afterwards. As for what Cryptics are based off of, there is the following conversation, emphasis mine.
  25. Huh, that's a difficult question. If I had to pick a favorite it would probably be the audio from Salt Lake City Comic-Con last year because there was a lot of neat information. Readings are also fun. Least favorite, pretty much everything else. Transcribing just isn't my favorite thing to do, I really have to get myself in the right frame of mind to do it. Now I don't mind doing it, mostly because I have very high standards for what a transcription should be (here's a hint if you paraphrase you are wrong) and this way I only have myself to get annoyed with.
