  1. double-posting 'cause reasons... I just asked Brandon if he was excited about the board game and this was his reply: (source) Frankly I like his idea for the name way better, but c'est la vie. Also based on some discussion I came across about the board game over on Reddit (and so the circle is complete, I link to this discussion which in turn links to the news post I wrote which links back to here), it seems the guy designing the game, Kevin Wilson, is actually fairly well regarded as a designer. So that's a point in favor of the game being good.
  2. I'm curious how you reconcile this theory with this quote from the prelude: This heavily implies, to me at least, that Jezrien is still in the same body. As for the Heralds being Splinters of Honor and Cultivation, that's not really how things work. Splinters are not human (or human-like) they're bundles of Investiture. It's also important to note that there is not a 1-to-1 parallel between the Heralds and the Unmade, there aren't 10 of the latter for example.
  3. Battar is the Patron of the Elsecallers. The Truthwatchers' patron is Paliah.
  4. So it looks like the board game is due out sometime next year!
  5. Un-spicy, I don't like hot foods and neither does my digestive system. Eh I think I liked playing with Play-doh when I was a kid but I just don't see the appeal any more, give me LEGOs!
  6. What was actually said was that somebody involved in the creation of Nightblood knew that Shardblades existed, honorblades were not mentioned nor was it established that Vasher was the one that knew about Shardblades.
  7. I am not, and I love meat too much to become one.
  8. Rosharan races don't match perfectly to Earth ones partly because everyone, except the Shin, have eyes with epicanthic folds (i.e. Asian-looking eyes). Visually the Alethi look like people of mixed Asian and Hawaiian decent. Even people with Horneater blood, like Shallan, who have much lighter skin than the Alethi, would still look like a Caucasian/Asian mix. Here is an audio clip where Brandon talks about this.
  9. So a few days ago Tor.com posted a bunch of behind-the-scenes/set photos.
  10. Was it the fact that he is planning on writing and releasing a Stormlight novella for Spring-ish next year to help tide us over until Stormlight 3? In which case it's not going to be the Jasnah one, he's going to write something new with a different character like Lopen or Lift.
  11. I asked him about it in the AMA and it was a no.
  12. (psst it was Rubix, see post #4 in this thread)
  13. Aon Ian, though obviously pronounced differently (EYE-AYN vs EE-in). Sadly it's not in the glossary so I have no idea what it means or what it looks like (planning on asking about it when I order my copy of the 10th Anniversary Edition).
  14. Actually it was part of a novella-length sequence that Brandon wrote so that he could work out what happened during her travels through Shadesmar. Unfortunately he does not currently plan on releasing that.
  15. My understanding of the situation is that by the time she tried to "refuse" the bonding was already starting to take place, at which point it was too late for her to do anything.
  16. Brettin is TenSoon. MeLaan gave Wax his earring.
  17. Animation, by far. It's definitely the most economical option as well, not to mention it would make it much more likely that it will stay visually true to the books (i.e. no whitewashing).
  18. Peter tweeted a few more details:
  19. There's also a Stormlight one "in the works" but really don't know much about it. (It's some sort of bridge-run/plateau assault thing)
  20. Yes the kandra survived and are now referred to as the Faceless Immortals. They pretty much work for Sazed now. The one who gave Wax his earring is actually MeLaan. TenSoon also shows up in Alloy (he replaces Officer Brettin at the end).
  21. I am aware, I was just using that WoB because it explicitly states that Rosharan's have innate Invesiture.
  22. @WayneSlider I find it unlikely that Brandon played any significant role in the designing of the game, for the same reason he doesn't write the scripts for potential movie adaptations. He is a prose writer, not a script writer or a game designer, and so he leaves these things to the people who actually know they are doing. In this case Kevin Wilson. As for whether players will be able to use Allomancy, I'm inclined to agree with Oudeis on this. Allomancers maybe a "resource" players can use for certain actions but Allomany will only be used in an abstract sense (i.e. you use 5 Pewterarms to take out a hit squad trying to assassinate you or something).
  23. So Deadline.com just posted this article announcing that Carter Blanchard will be adapting the story (which I'm pretty sure means he's writing the script?).
  24. Actually people on Roshar do have innate investiture: (source)
  25. So I was just checking twitter and saw this twitter exchange: I'm assuming this will be in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary edition (i.e. an "unlimited" trade paperback and a special leather-bound edition for collectors). I don't know about the rest of you but I'm definitely going to start setting money aside for this!
