Buy, since it has already been confirmed there will be one. We will learn more about the Purelake's magic fish.

Yes, thank you for that. I don't want to sound ungrateful 'cause I totally am. Tons of great information in the interview. But I would not have clarified like you did, but I didn't really give you much information on what I was asking so mea culpa.
-
I've finished the transcribing the interview. So many things... I'm surprised he didn't just RAFO the atium/worldhopping question and I'm shocked to find out the Lord Ruler did not use lerasium... I'm a little bummed that he didn't answer my seon question but to be fair it wasn't particularly clear. I should have phrased it as "When King Raoshem settled in Elantris and made it his capital, did seons exist?" Also he wasn't clear on whether he was RAFOing or PAFOing the calender question... Terriswoman worldhopper... I wonder if she is Demoux's wife/lover-person-thing. And it is real bummer that we won't get the annotations for a long time but oh well...

I might start transcribing tonight, if not probably tomorrow. Edit: Also this thread should probably get moved to the Events/Signings/Stalking Forum...

Woohoo! Thank you for doing this. Lots of questions answered and a new reading! (One of them we might have already had but new recordings are helpful to perfect the transcription) Oh and Miyabi, I would soundcloud first so others can work on the transcription.

"Cryptics" is their canon name, insofar as it is what they refer to themselves as. They are a type of spren. As for their symbols matching those on the inside cover, I would say no. If I remember correctly the inside-cover symbols that correspond to the radiant-orders/surges are glyphs and the cryptic-symbols are not glyphs. Granted I could be wrong about them being glyphs but I still don't think your theory is correct. One reason is Sylphrena isn't a Cryptic and she grants some of the powers. Two it is implied that Cryptics are the spren for just one order, Shallan's, since Jasnah doesn't appear to see them. As for the requirement to touch them... I highly doubt it. Spren are primarily Cognitive entities and are only vaguely reflected in the Physical Realm so the the touch requirement just feels wrong to me. On the Cryptics-Soulcasting point. Cryptics have a similiar relationship to soulcasting as Sylphrena has to the Lashings.

Brandon talks about said book-isms (starting at around 9:00). Basically said is used because it is invisible, it doesn't derail readers from "dialogue reading mode" like most tags do. I'm sorry if you don't like it but it is the industry standard and you're going to have to get used to it. The overwhelming majority of writers and editors prefer said, and I don't see that changing.

This is kind-of a craft question, but not really. When do you plan on releasing the WoK annotations?

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon

Spren have the ability to become invisible to people, do they become invisible to other spren as well? Or can spren always see other spren whether they wish it or not, like Rock? -

Actually Brandon has said Aluminum compounding is pretty useless. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=977#65

So many questions... I could really come up with an endless stream of these... I'll limit to these three though. Did Seons exist when the Aonic peoples discovered Elantris? What year did the Reod occur in the Selish/Elantrian calender? Is the word "Hoed" based off an Aon? If so which one? ...that ended up being four... oh well...

(Theory) The Tanavallah: a Surgebinders Guide to Harmonics
WeiryWriter replied to Isomere's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The Transformation= the Strong and Weak forces is a theory I've been toying with over the last few weeks but never got around to posting. I'm glad it's occurred to someone else as well, means I'm not totally crazy. I also think electromagnetism will end up a surge at least in part. Light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum after all.- 89 replies

Ah... You are treating it in a metaphorical sense, where as I am treating it as literal.
-
I guess that kind of makes sense when you put it like that. But when they gift you their investments, they become "your" investments, they wouldn't really be referred to as your parents' anymore, at least not legally. I thought it was a safe bet that you are a guy. Also, on a side point, there is a quote somewhere where Brandon is asked about what Harmony is doing with the extra power from Ruin and he gives a cryptic non-answer along the lines of "What is he doing with the extra power"
-
Okay, this just isn't making sense to me. The innate investiture scadrians have is referred to as being from Ruin and Preservation not Harmony. Yes you are correct the mistsickness was put in place by Preservation, however that is not what I was referring to. I was referring to the mists staying during the day, which was due to Ruin. (hmm... I'm not finding a quote for this so I might be wrong, but I do remember something about Ruin messing with the mists). I disagree, I do not believe the intents, as we know them, existed before the Shattering happened. The intents came about as a result of the Shattering. Also Adonalsium was not unmingled, it was shattered. I guess this illustrates the differences in the way we think. I have my theories about these things and until I'm proven wrong I'm going to opperate under the assumption that I'm correct and try to convert people to my point of view. My theories naturally make sense to me and I have trouble understanding other people's theories when they conflict with mine because I have a hard time wrapping my head around something that seems wrong to me. Please forgive me if I seem a bit rude when a reply to things like this, I'm not trying to be, I just have trouble sometimes explaining what seems obvious to me. Especially when its is someone like you Shardlet who I know is an intelligent/awesome guy. The way I see it does conflict with what you are saying, but okay.
-
I'm sorry but this just seems wrong to me. By that reasoning Harmony is not invested in Scadrial. If Harmony was "one shard" however why would it have two kinds of mists? Logically it makes sense that one is of Preservation and the other is of Ruin. I'm also not 100% convinced there was only one kind of mist during the FE. Ruin did corrupt some of the mist, causing it to stay during the day and such, whether that constitutes ruin!mist as opposed to preservation!mist, I'm not sure. The way I see it those are two very different things. It is my opinion the shards and their intents did not exist pre-Shattering but were instead a product of the Shattering. You couldn't "unmingle" Adonalsium because there was nothing to unmingle; it was uniform in its power. Harmony however is not uniform in its power so it can be unmingled. Also the unmingling process is remarkably dissimilar to shattering/splintering. We know that if Harmony was splintered it would not result in Ruin and Preservation, but rather smaller pieces. The Shattering of Adonalsium would be comparable to the latter, not the former. The unmingling process is like cutting a piece with a saw, shattering/splintering is like taking a hammer to the glass. They just aren't comparable processes. Part of why Sazed hasn't been changed very much is because the intents of Preservation and Ruin essentially cancel themselves out. (cancelling out is actually a bad metaphor, opposing gravitational tides is better). I think part of the out-of-book reasoning for the name "Harmony" comes from an eastern belief that being able to hold two opposing forces is harmony. (here's where Brandon talk about that). The problem is that Brandon has said the "Is Harmony one shards or two" is a very subjective question. I personally feel it is two but that it should be treated as one in certain instances.

Eh... I don't think so. Mistborn: Inquistition is not run using the MAG and combat is incredibly rare, and when it does occur it is choreographed before hand. Dice don't factor into it. Granted it is worth a try but things happen very slowly over there, here is the best place for it to be seen. Perhaps someone with the MAG could chime in?

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Should fabrials be treated as a magic system? Are fabrials related to Cultivation? -
I personally feel that it is hard to dispute that Harmony is two shards because Ruin and Preservation still exist as distinct entities. Scadrians still have innate investiture from Ruin and Preservation not "Harmony." During Alloy there are two kinds of shard-mist, one for each shard. They can still be split apart and have their powers un-mingled. Being two shards is part of why "balance" is a big thing to Harmony, he has to be sure to not use to much of one and not the other, otherwise the imbalance could cause problems. I don't know if "balance" would be Harmony's Intent because I'm not sure it has an intrinsic Intent or whether Sazed just made it up.

I just started reading The Warded Man by Peter V. Brett. I'm only a few chapters in but I'm liking it so far.
