This sounds really cool, I might have to break down and buy the game. I've been putting it off for long enough.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Two suggested Revisions: (Under MIstborn - Characters) Where do Kelsier and Marsh get their nobility from? I know that Marsh snapped after obligators got their mom, so I assume it's from their father? Or are they second generation? We know the answer, it is detailed in Kelsier's wiki article - http://coppermind.net/wiki/Kelsier (Under General Questions) Have you done the Scribbler revisions yet, or is that something still on your plate? The book is out so I assume it was revised... -
We know that Hoid uses Feruchemy but we don't know how. We've all been under the impression that he has been using it the way those in the Final Empire used it. What if he is doing it the "mechanical" way that the Southern Peoples use?

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
When the Aonic peoples migrated to Arelon and discovered Elantris did the Seons already exist? -
I actually had to re-listen to that part because I thought I had mis-heard it. I think it would make a fantastic movie. I did a transcription of the Q&A. It's not perfect but if someone doesn't have time to listen to it or would rather read it here it is. Edit: and here is the WoR reading, it has about a paragraph more than the other one. I also corrected the spellings as best I could.

Pardon me if this was joke but unfortunately that's impossible. Even ignoring the fact that only liquids can be acids, chalk is an alkaline substance which would react with the acid to make water which isn't particularly effective against chalklings. If it could happen though, it would be pretty cool.
-
Wow, thanks for posting this. I'm actually working on a transcription of the Q&A at the moment (I'll probably post it sometime tomorrow, I want to get it looking nicer than I have it right now). I'll probably do the Taravangian reading as well since it goes on longer than the other one.

I would like to announce that I have posted the first Rithmatist article on the wiki (Armedius Academy). Granted its not finished yet, but I'm working on it!
-
No, you make him watch the first five seasons, and then say he can't watch the rest until he finishes all of the cosmere books and the sequels to the rithmatist.
-
Just finished... So good... Why do I have to wait for the sequel... I want to know more. Okay coherent thoughts... Brandon is fantastic at wordbuilding, he has created magic systems and settings I love, but this is the first time I actually want to live in the world he created. I am a fan of alternate history, after all I do plan on working in the history field, and this good blend of alternate history and something new. The "strange attractor" as it were. The point in the church with the clocks made out of stained-glass... You all might not know this about me but I have a thing for glasswork and clockwork and seeing them together, I was like "Shnergaberg this is awesome..." There were a couple points, mostly when chalklings were being discussed, that I could help but think realmatically despite this not being cosmere. I just have a feeling cognitive aspects are involved. I am proud to admit that I totally called Joel and Melody working together as "one" Rithmatist early on and I was so thrilled with that final battle. Now for some sleep...

I figured we should discuss a plan of attack for wiki articles on The Rithmatist. This way we don't duplicate any effort. I've been taking notes mostly on the Rithmatic defenses and Armedius Academy (curicula, faculty, staff, etc.).

Theory: Connection between Heralds and Shardblades
WeiryWriter replied to makromag's topic in Stormlight Archive
Thanks for pointing that out, I don't think I ever noticed that. We do in fact know where shardblades are summoned from, the Spiritual Realm. I guess its not inconceivable that the Heralds spent time in the Spiritual Realm, although I would want some more information before I make a decision. -
This reminds of that thread about Taln's Scar over in the Stormlight forum. I highly doubt anything magical is going on here or there, I think it is just the case of people just arbitrarily defining star-groups. I don't see why the Shards would fiddle around with stars hundreds light-years away to form just the right pattern on one single planet.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is very true. I have a feeling that lesser Nobles, with a lower allomantic potential, would be more likely to be lenient. It wouldn't be as great a disgrace for them. The Major Houses would be more strict about such things. Zane, Kelsier, and Vin are major anomalies in the way things were done. Kelsier and Marsh grew up as nobles, their skaa mother tricked their father into believing she was Noble. A similar thing happened with Vin's mother and Tevidian Tekiel though he never knew he was a father. Straff was deliberately flouting the established practice, trying to sire as many allomancer children as he could. -
Thanks for finding that quote for me Windy! http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=642#3 Feruchemy does follow the laws of thermodynamics. I agree with Voidus here on the "maximum storage" issue. This might all be just a matter of semantics but the quote Windy found for me, in my opinion, supports the time travel of attributes.
-
I'm looking for the quote, but I read it quite a long time ago so I might be misremembering the details. There is a power signature in the metal after an attribute has been "stored" but it is not the attribute itself.
-
"Storing" is the word that is used in Feruchemy but it is technically incorrect because the attribute isn't actually "stored" there is some sort of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey thing going on. Basically the attribute is teleported into the future. Also in Feruchemy bendalloy isn't a temporal metal, that is thinking to much like allomancy, it is a Physical metal.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I believe those were the "Mist Spirit" which I think Vin points out in Well of Ascension. It's definitely not electrum shadows since electrum is an alloy and wouldn't be in the groundwater. -
Shardpools aren't Splinters, Brandon has said there are no Splinters on Scadrial. In the link to the lerasium/atium alloy question above I think he meant "Shard or Sliver". It was also a transcription so it is possible they transcribed the wrong term from memory. Edit: Oops I didn't see that you also mentioned it could be a transcription error.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon

Is there cognitive DNA? Can non-Scadrians use Hemalurgy? (I know it can be used of world but does the practitioner have to be of Scadrian descent) -
Where are the Northern and Southern People Really?
WeiryWriter replied to Iredomi's topic in Mistborn
There might not be an Antarctica but there is an antarctic which in most people's minds are synonymous with each other. We know Scadrial isn't Earth, that is immanently obvious. King of Nowhere was likely using a metaphor relate-able to us as Earthlings. As for the question at hand, if I remember correctly the Final Empire was not at the True North Pole but the Magnetic North Pole (compasses pointed towards Luthadel). I think it was at a more temperate latitude (but on the northern end of that range) since the northern dominances were colder than the southern ones. If it was at the TNP then the central dominances would be colder than the outer dominances instead. Also the day/night cycle wasn't as wonky as it would have been at the TNP. When Sazed fixed the world I would expect he nudged them into the more central temperate latitudes. I don't remember any references to compasses in Alloy but I think Sazed would probably have shifted the MNP closer to the TNP as well. The Southern Peoples would likely by the inverse of the above (southern instead of northern, and vice versa) -
Really enjoyed it, can't wait for the next one. When you started talking about the Shardic Radiation Theory, I couldn't get over how familiar it sounded. And then I was like "Oh my god, I posted that!" Perhaps I should go back and update it...

First off, welcome to the forums! As for your question, you might want to check out the Coppermind. It is the wiki 17th Shard has created. It has answers for some of your questions. Unfortunately, some things just aren't known yet.

Not to be nit-picky but rotation is the wrong word, revolution is (which you also used). Rotation is the time it takes a body to complete one turn on its axil, a revolution is the time it takes a body to complete an orbit. Anyways, a year is one revolution, no matter where one is. I just don't see Brandon changing that, it would feel wrong.
