His consciousness rode the storm. Stormlight might have been a factor, I don't know. (I believe it has been theorized that stormriding was the Windrunner's third power?) Hmm... my mistake I thought he had compared the mists with stormlight. I'm still confident stormlight is not a focus, it doesn't fit with the other known foci in my opinion. Why do you say Honor doesn't have a shardpool anymore? Devotion's (or Dominion's we don't Know but it really has to be Devotion's) shardpool still exists long after it has been splintered. I would also like to note that not all shardpools (namely Devotion's) have the refilling mechanic that the Well has.

Oh by "Viewpoint Characters" I meant primary viewpoints, not throwaways. (i.e. Elend has viewpoints in all three books but he is only a primary viewpoint in the second two) Primary viewpoints are by default main characters but not all main characters have viewpoints. (I do think a Character should be all main characters but should have the primary viewpoints noted as such)

I'm reasonably sure stormlight the focus on Roshar, it is analagous to the mists on Scadrial, not the metal. Kaladin is definitely not a Sliver, he has not held the majority of a Shard's power. Also I would not say he "became one with the storm." He did ride the stormwinds but I personally don't view that as becoming one with the storm. A couple of nitpicks, it was 1024 years and it was Preservation's power not Ruin. Also what do you mean by that last bit?

I like the idea of a Setting section, it is one of the three pillars of storytelling and it makes sense to have a section for each. I would actually have "Magic" as a subsection of "Setting" though, since the magic systems are technically a part of setting. And I agree with having those sections dealing specifically with the new information brought to light in each book. (As people have mentioned before, TFE-Allomancy, WoA-Feruchemy, HoA-Hemalurgy, AoL-Twinborns). Also for Characters, are we dealing with Main Characters or Viewpoint Characters because those two lists, while mostly the same, are not exactly the same.

This was discussed here (among other neat hidden bits).

Shallan's random sketch... OR IS IT?!?!
WeiryWriter replied to Krazeemee's topic in Stormlight Archive
I might be reading this wrong but are you implying the metal is what is keeping the spren inside? If so that is incorrect, the gem is what captures the spren, nothing else. A gem with a captured is referred to as a fabrial (the actual devices that people refer to as "fabrials" are referred to by artifabrians as "machines" which differentiates between the two). The "pattern of the gold" has nothing to do with containing the spren. It could however by part of what directs the spren's power. We still don't really understand much about the principles of how soulcasting fabrials work at this point. -
Ati's Hair. (Don't laugh. I know it's a strange topic).
WeiryWriter replied to Mikanium's topic in Mistborn
I always read it as Brandon mentioning Ati's most distinctive feature. I'm pretty sure he did the same thing with Leras' big nose as well. (If I remember correctly) -
We don't really know. One theory, which I agree with, is that the Unmade are the actual, "real" world, equivalent of the Heralds while the Ten Fools are religious constructs loosely based on them. (i.e. they have been designed to emphasize Vorin teachings) On the Dawnshards, again we don't know. We don't even know whether they are even weapons. (I actually kind of doubt that)

I would really put that last bit about Ym in spoiler tags since that is super spoilery. If you want to discuss WoR stuff in the main stormlight forum stuff like that needs to be in spoiler tags out of respect for those who don't want to be spoiled. Even if it is just an off-hand reference.

Theory: The Parshmen are NOT Voidbringers
WeiryWriter replied to pmj812's topic in Stormlight Archive
Link for Aimian's are not human. -
If I remember correctly from my read of the original theory ages ago, Kurkistan proposes that Forms are Spiritual in nature.

Just so you know it is a creature known as a "Larkin."

I'm reasonable sure that Yaezir is just he Emuli/Azish/Makabaki name for Jezrien. Keep in mind that "J" in Alethi is pronounced like a "Y" (Jasnah is pronounced like Yasnah).

I strongly disagree, I do not believe all spren are splinters. I believe only sentient spren are actual splinters, in fact being a splinter is what allowed them to develop sentience. Now all spren are the product of shardic investiture, but not all shardic investiture is in the form of splinters. (since Meg just posted while I was typing this I'm going to steal borrow some of her evidence) That quote is quite specific "Honorspren would be termed splinters" this implies, to me at least, that not all spren would be.

Actually animals do have pieces of Preservation and Ruin in them. Humans are unique in that they have an imbalance between the two (i.e. more Preservation than Ruin) which is what gives them sentience (On a side note it is possible to grant sentience the other way, more Ruin than Preservation, as well). Animals have equal amounts of Ruin and Preservation in them.

New Tidbit on Burning Invested Objects
WeiryWriter replied to Kurkistan's topic in Events and Signings
Hmm... I wonder if they tried if it would feel like burning someone else's feruchemicaly charged metal? Of course that would require shardblades being made of metal matching the allomantic-mixtures which might not be true. If they aren't, and are made of like titanium or something then a mistborn couldn't burn it in the first place. -
As of me posting this, it is at 223.

Um... The Heralds are not spren, hey are Physical entities, not Cognitive ones. Also where do you get them being splinters? They are certainly invested but as far as I know "humans" can't be splinters. I also do not believe they predate H+C's arrival on Roshar. I believe H+C either brought humans with them or recreated them on Roshar, since the Heralds are "human" they couldn't have been on Roshar before H+C.
-
I really do not get that from that quote. It doesn't make sense with the word choice. If he had meant just bonding spren he would have said something to that effect. Instead he says ALL spren which implies he meant all spren.
-
I really doubt that most spren are of Adolnasium. In fact I do not believe we have seen any Adonalsium-spren at this point. Brandon has said that "the spren you are running into are all (something) of either Honor or Cultivation, or some mixture between them." This implies we haven't seen any ado-spren yet. (Granted that is from long before we found out about them but still) Also most spren aren't sentient and WoB is that ado-spren are, in fact it is the one thing we do know about them.

There's a that has his pronunciation. It sounds kind of like "Yeem"

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
WeiryWriter replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The dead do not "go" to the Spiritual Realm, they pass through the higher Realms when they die but their destination is beyond the Three Realms. Kelsier decided to stick around instead of moving on. Also Brandon explicity states that Kelsier is in the Cognitive Realm in the quote in Gloom's last post (#669) -
Yep it was revealed at the Seattle Steelheart signing.
