Feather does a pretty good job of pronouncing Rock's name. Jah Keved I pronounce the same as Jasnah with the "y" sound. Szeth, I just say Seth. Because Hungarian pronunciation rules... (in Hungarian "sz" corresponds to the English "s", Hungarian "s" corresponds to English "sh" so Budapest would be pronounced like Budapesht) Sadeas... I say Sah-DEE-us.

Theory: The book that present the PoV of DEAD character....
WeiryWriter replied to IllNsickly's topic in Stormlight Archive
The first arc is Kaladin, Shallan, Szeth, Eshonai, and Dalinar. The second has Taravangian, Taln, another Herald and who knows who else. -
It was a mistake/typo, Brandon pointed it out at a signing I think. The correct version is on the Coppermind.

The quote in question: (source) I agree that shards can directly fuel any magic system, though not as efficiently as their own systems. Getting AonDor to work though would probably be fairly tricky.

53. We don't really know much about Tarah at this point, people have theorized that she was some sort of love interest, but we don't know much.
-
51. There is no morphological difference, safehands are always the left hand. 52. Probably, the stipulation is that the object to be lashed has to be touched, no mention of how it is to be touched.

No, ferrings are a result of feruchemical genes mixing with allomantic ones.

The metal lake was Ruin's Shardpool which Rashek moved underground, creating the Pits (I think). He didn't use it because it wasn't the Well of Ascension so he probably wouldn't have known he could "use" it and I don't think they got all that close to it in the first place?

I believe it is just a Roshar word, I'm not familiar with an Earth-usage.

The ten polestones are the then gemstones that are used in surgebinding. Sapphire, Smokestone, Ruby, Diamond, Emerald, Garnet, Zircon, Amethyst, Topaz, Heliodor. Edit: Woo! got those right the first time!

In the spirit of Christmas, A Survivorist hymn
WeiryWriter replied to FeatherWriter's topic in Mistborn
Oh my word, your safehand is showing, how scandalous! Congrats on getting recognized for your singing! (I was hoping Brandon would come across it) -
Its better, still a little over confident for my tastes but then again I think it strains credulity that they would have full feruchemists. But that statement is better than the other one.
-
I think it is a bit premature to say they "absolutely have full feruchemists" we know next to nothing about the southern peoples, we can't make such definitive statements. It is entirely possible, but we can say they do absolutely.

The chasmfiend that shows up during the hunt is one that has successfully pupated.

This has not been confirmed, it is theory only.

I'm definitely in the "Dalinar is NOT actually going to the past" camp. It is strongly implied that he is not the first to have received the visions and I just don't know how it would work if they all actually went back to the same point in time? 49. Probably not. Humans first originated on Yolen, but they have been created on other Shardworlds as well (i.e. Scadrial). The origins of Rosharan humans are not known or what species were extant on Roshar prior to the arrival of Honor and Cultivation. 50. I don't think that is a matter of the barrier being "weaker". I think spren are just a result of the natural realmatics of Roshar, like how metal-based magics are on Scadrial or form/programming-based on Sel. I'd also say no to it being a particular Shard since there are Adonalsium-invested spren and so that pre-date the Shattering. Spren are just a part of Roshar.
-
45. Probably not, existed on Roshar. And the Tranquiline Halls are somewhere else. 46. We don't know very much about cryptics or even if Dawnsingers are actually spren or not. (My personal theory is that the Dawnsingers were the Radiant bonding spren and also splinters of Honor/Cultivation, so yes cryptics would be Dawnsingers according to my theory) 47. Teft was raised as an Envisager. Other than that only Teft knows... 48. It's possible, people have discussed it before. I'm not so sure

Theory: Adonalsium cannot be put back together again
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well Brandon has this to say: (source) I agree with Brandon on this. (I apologize for not bringing this up earlier, I had forgotten about it and just re-discovered it). Now again, I would prefer for this discussion to be continued in another thread. This thread has gotten fairly off-topic of late and I would prefer it to get back on-topic. -
Theory: Adonalsium cannot be put back together again
WeiryWriter replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think that there is a difference between "bad" and "evil". Ruin might have been "bad" but he was by no means "evil". He acts according to a different morality scale. To him "ruining" is "good". He isn't trying to destroy Scadrial becasue he is malevolent but because it is in his nature. We wouldn't say a predator was evil for killing its prey because they don't operate on our morality scale. If the discussion on "Is Ruin Evil?" is to continue I would prefer for it to be moved to another thread because it is off topic for this thread. -
In fact, and I forgot to put this in my previous post, it is confirmed they are not connected: (source)

Since thunderclasts are animated stone, I don't think they bleed?
-
No, its actually pretty late in the book I think before Vin actually asks about it. She's basically going through what you are right now, knowing their are ten metals but not knowing what one of them is/does.
-
Where are you in the book? It will be answered at some point but its Gold. Edit: It is also in the Ars Arcanum in the back of the book.
-
Eh, I would disagree, but this is a tricky discussion. Epigraph 12 of HoA says: It says that Rashek moved the Well but that isn't really what it goes on to describe. Rashek flattened the original Terris, where the Well was located, and then raised a "new" Terris to the north. So it was the Mountains, not the Well that actually "moved". Edit: About the canonicity of the metal lake being Ruin's Shardpool: (source) I'd say it is canon.

I would say no. It is still spoilery, not everyone is reading the pre-release material. Even with it being released to the public it is still required to be in spoiler tags outside of the Steelhunt forum and the WoR Spoiler forum.
