Miles in that istance, burns regular gold to gain the Allomantic effect, He did this sometime, like instrospective habit to remember what he could be. He said it was a while from the last time He uses his Allomancy...He didn't see the Gold Shadows all the times.

I am with hwiles, the word "god" is an empty word who could fit almost everyone with many semantics. Some people would see "gods" as "superleaders" and in this case: TLR, Heralds, Returned and probably also a great great ruler without any kind of power is a god. Some other people will see "gods" as a matter of power and in Cosmere's scale the Shards reign above the rest...so them are gods. I am not the best suited to talk on this matter, but I find Sazed the best god i could imagine. Someone with power who try his best to make the things better without be so prideful to think He coul not be wrong. "He is not the god you want, but he is the god you need" I don't want to carry this topic on personal belief, but notice also that the right god (Adonalsium) didn't performe a perfect task in his work either

All Shards may do this, it is confirmed not an idea of mine. They may be better or worse at doing it, but they could. I don't want mix things together but if you read other Cosmere's books...you may use also their raw Investiture to performe Allomancy (also if it will be complex and probably a stupid things to do it). I think it's better with a direct quote:

The Shards is the only beings who fully understand Realmatic Theory, therefore I imagine that Odium would know for simply intuition a lot of thing about Investiture and its working.

Twinborn is a word to refer to someone who is both a Misting and a Ferring, with a bit of abuse you may probably use for TLR too, but notice nobody in the Era 2 never considerate the possibility with no more Fullborn other than him. The "Compound" is a mechanc that allow the user to fuel Feruchemy with Allomancy's power. This happen when you may burn a Metalmind to access its power. This of course may happen if you are both a Misting and a Ferring of that metal (like Miles was) or with some special circumstances (that are out of this easy explaination). What actual happen when you Compound, is burn a Metalmind and gain for this burning the Metalmind's Feruchemical charge tenfold back...this allow you to gain more attribute than the one originally stored in. Actually a Compounder can't do nothing a regular Feruchemist may do. Simply He has at almost infinite amount of Feruchemical Charge avaliable. A clever Compounder may start with a little amount of charge and Compound it to almost infinity. Remember that you gain all this attributes in a huge flare as the metalmind burns...it's more than you usually need and therefore almost all the Compounder store the surplus in another metalmind to use it when they actual need. As I said in the previous point, a Compounder only gain many times the attributed stored, so the Compounding replace the Allomantic effect and you will only gain a lot of Nutrition. We don't know even if a Lerasium twinborn is possible, the Atium misting of era 1 happened for direct Preservation's interference in the Snapping. The only way to could compound Lerasium is to be a Full Feruchemist (because everyone could burn the Lerasium). Also with this premise, we don't know what Attribute could be stored into Lerasium, because it's Feruchemical effect is unknown. Lerasium's Allomantic Effect is "rewrite soul", the default outcome is to forge a strong connection to Preservation...this has as side effect to turn you into a Mistborn. But other things may be performed with it.

If The Mist and whatever other kind of Shard's gassous investiture may be used as a fuel from the magic systems. Ruin too may fuel Allomancy with his black Mists. The matter is what happen when the Shard's power is fixed in solid form as god metal...the difference state of matter carry with it a different mechanic
-
Indeed you may be right...I worked on the premise of "identity and Investiture's interference aren't an on/off switch" but this may be wrong and maybe Investiture's Interference is already at its top in nature. Indeed burning Alluminium is a good countermove to flush all Investiure effect on you but I would point on the fact that a Trueself may allow effects to affect him using his power. He may offer a better target than someone else and use this ability strategically, much more if he is a Alluminium twinborn who may later discharge the effect (if it is not a one-shot kill)
-
The same thing may be told to the Soulbearer. Anyway I have this theory, that tapping Identity (and improve the Investiture's Interference) may work to a some extent as a Investiture's Defence. Like to say: It's more hard to affect you with direct magic

Cadmius and Chromium are metals quite impossible to mine without industrial tech. Notice also that Rashek seems to not actual know (or retain great information) about the actual use of the metals...One of his metal plate show he need research to actual gasp what the metals do. Actually you will need a Trueself+Soulbearer to use a keyed Nicrosilmind (regular metalmind) a TrueSelf is uncapable of tapping Nicrosil and a Soulbearer is uncapable of tapping others' metalmind. Of course at TLR's time, all the feruchemist were Full Feruchemist so everyone of them have both the powers. Sure they need the knowledge to performe the Identity trick, but it was an high risk. Of course no sure answer but I don't think Kelsier is a Fullborn (or a quite one) of his own, I don't know neither if he retain his own Mistborn status...The Bands are simply the masterpiece of a research branch spawned by his main research project (the way for him to return)
-
I don't think. Probably countries arose along the different "Dor areas"...For example The Shaod may take people from Arelon, Teo and Dula. As a possible proof you may see how Forton (maybe I miswrote his name) retain his region potion magic also if his country is under Fjordel's domination from years at lest.
-
Indeed A-Alluminium is useless for the whole process, Identity is just something you need to remove...Compound it it's useless for the Medallion tech (also if I had a theory of great amount of Identity usage in another kind of task)
-
I am a bit late but I think: 1- you could do burn it if the Breath's Identity match your own...therefore if You putted in the metal (not a big deal) or if someone Identiless put the Breath in metal...the outcome of the burning is hard to say. 2- Indirectly yes, you store health, your body become weaker...Stormlight sustain your body while yo could store much more than it is usually safe.

@Spoolofwhool actually get my point. Honestly I considerated both Sixth of the Dusk, Allomancy and Dalinar's cases before I wrote the theory: - Allomancy like we know require a constant stream of Investiture to work (and his future sight is strictly limited also with the Investiture provided) - Sixth of the Dusk is the more troublesome, but you may see how this kind of visions are really a couple of seconds in the future (and we don't know if the Aviar tap Investiture from somewhere) - Dalinar's ones like it was stated aren't actual a vision in the context we talk about. They are more like see a Coppermind, someone places his memories in another host and the host spreads them. Honor used his future-sight for a couple of them, but once he did...those 1-2 visions are memories like the others. If I remember right, the Renarin's visions predicted the Everstome with more than 60 days of advance, this is some magnitude above all the cases we see it in the books, with a single exception. Mistborn Secret History Spoiler: PS: I am unsure if I did something like that, but I didn't want to be rude or anything like that

The Principles of Soulcasting Immunity and Stick
Yata replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Cosmere Discussion
She almost broken her bond with Pattern as a child. Without her try to call the Shardblade/Pattern the bond would be too weak to use a Surge.- 27 replies

@Tarion I am unsure you could change the range of visible frequences with Feruchemical tin ,the way feruchemy works (with at least physical metal/attributes) seems to indicate nothing beyond the human abilities....maybe it's for a cognitive fact or maybe it's actual a Feruchemy limitation (I think the second). Notice only that see/hear frequence beyond the normal human could be a problem mora than an aid

Atium steals everything may be stolen...The Ars Arcanum is written with in-world knowledge. Therefore may be wrong because the Shardworld's knowledge is incomplete/wrong.

When I said that "visions" are "too much" for a Resonance, I don't mean in the usefulness context, but actual by the hidden Realmatic mechanics needed to allow this. To "see the future" also only a glimpse...you need to exdend a bit in the Spiritual Realm, this is expensive for both a Investiture and Mental fortitude pow. A Resonance isn't fueled by raw investiture (Shallan have her Memory without need of Stormlight, Kal's squire the same and Skybreaker's one too) so future sight, much more a long term one...is a huge effect for a little Realmatic Quirk. This is the reason for my theory, to try to reduce the "mechanics" needed to a Truthwatcher for have future-knowledge....of course mine may be wrong, it was just a possibility. I just figure out that if my theory is true (or mostly true) a Truthwatcher may recive glimpe for future sight magic users too (imagine to be on Scadrial or First of the Sun) EDIT: This is aganist my theory but: If the Truthwatcher have a link (also a weak one) with the Spiritual Realm, the place of perfection and truth...they may be able to feel a dissonance (pun) when someone lies.

Exactly, also if that logic is already at risk...Trellium too seems be able to Steal multiple attributes, probably all of them (I was unable to find a specific pattern in the metals it could replace)
-
@maxal you lifted a good point. It's possible that Renarin is both a Truthwatcher and influenced by something else. For the simple sake of leave open more path,I developed this theory to try to fit the in-books event: The idea is about Renarin's visions be caused by the Truthwatcher's Resonance. But "see the future" as Resonance is a bit "too much" compared with the others Resonance we know and with the Resonance's meaning at all. So the idea is the Truthwatcher didn't actual see the future for they own. They simply catch a glimpse of what other "Seer beings" see of the future. This mean a Truthwatcher can't see anything if there isn't someone's vision to "spy". Why is this change relevant ? Because we know one of the Unmade uses the deadmen to fuel his future sight (and this create the Death Rattles)...so my point is: Renarin recives this vision simply because the Unmade is "relative" near and Renarin simply exploit its effort to see the future.

I think this is impossible. Ambition died (of course) before Odium were trapped in GR System, so we have at least a 4500 years before Mistborn (but I would say 5000 for all the previous Desolations). I honestly don't think Elantris happens 5000 years before Mistborn also because White Sand is still older and some white sand's character is still live at Mistborn trilogy. that character uses a time dilatation method but she is still quite young for someone who lived 5000 years

First of all, @Oversleep got my argument. On another point, I need to make a precisation about the "size matters". I think the Spike's size matter in "how much Investiture could keep" (as every other object in the Cosmere has an Investiture's threeshold, I can't honestly believe a Spike is different) BUT this "Investiture threesold" is somethin many time the amount of Stealable Spirit-Web. So in the context of Hemalurgy, also a little Spike could keep all the Spirit-Web you want. Stupid example:Imagine to try to spike someone with an HUGE Soul (honestly I can't figure a possible target, but I will say someone with a Soul of Splinter-like level), someone with a Soul made by so much Investiture could probably fill a little Spike (like the earring) and force you to use an Inquisitor's Spike or maybe something bigger. TLTR: The Spike's size is a theoric factor in his stealable power, but it's pratical irrilevant
-
Hemalurgy is a low Investiture magic system. You may see it with the fact you may use a Spike as Metalmind without too problems, because the Investiture Inteference isn't really strong and the metal itself has not much Investiture from Hemalurgy. You may see also the Vin's earring with his small size was capable to grant the same benefit od one of a Inquisitor's spike. Lastly but not less meaningfull, a Spike isn't so Invested to be hard to affect with magic...For example Vin used his earring as bullet with a great outcome. Someone with a gifting Spike, may be/or not be keyed with enougth Victim's Soul to be able to pass as the victim for a Identity pow. This mean the Spike doesn't stole with precision only the "selected part" or the outcome will be absolutelly predictable (you could always access to victim's metalmind or you never be able to access victim's metalmind), lastly but you may argue with "purelly semantic" Hemalurgy is always be stated as a "rip the Soul" not as "cut the Soul" and this point to a messy and butcher-like act.
-
TLR tapped Youth from his Atiummind always. There aren't times with "he wasn't tapping his Atiummind"...When Vin saw him old in his refuge, he was simply tapping less Youth (both to save it and because He feel right that old and consumed body). I imagine TLR spent almost all his time "as an old man" to tap more Atium just when he have to show for public
-
I like an old theory (I don't remember who was the creator) about Lerasium Feruchemy. With this idea the F-Lerasium store density, tapping a lot of it make you quite indistructible while storing it would give you some intangibility (hard to use because you need to keep contact with the Lerasium itself)
