So I keep feeling very curious about the nonhuman people of Roshar. Dysian Aimians and their violet blood make some sense, as we know Rosharan creatures from greatshells to cremlings bleed violet blood. Humans make sense in that their human, and obviously share red blood with other Yolish (non-Fain) life, like pigs, horses, chickens, etc. But does anything else on Roshar, besides the Parshendi, have orange blood? I just don't know what to make of it! I'm trying to read up on info, but while biology is a strong subject for me, chemistry is not. I'd love to see if anyone else has thoughts or insights about this. In any case, here's a link to an article about the many variations of blood in real life critters here on Earth.

I can't recall singing specifically in the Mistborn books, but some people do sing on-screen in Stormlight Archive. [Some specific but mundane Stormlight singing instances, so spoiler:]

Lerasium allows access to the power of other shards
Corax replied to Ixthos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Woah! I wonder if that is an intentional aspect designed by Leras. And why Fuzz was so insistent about the importance of his insertion of 16 into the Scadrian magic system(s). -
I initially thought that too, about the Purelakers, but WoB suggests otherwise: Paladin Brewer (paraphrased) Is there a link between Trell and Nalt from Mistborn and Nu Ralik and Van Makik from Stormlight? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) "No, there isn't, maybe just tenuously." He said something like that. He seemed confused that I asked that. source

Absolutely agree that chouta sounds like fantastic street food. Also, I'm a big fan of spicy curry and flatbread, so I think that traditional Vorin masculine food would be a favorite of mine. (And now I've decided what I'm having for dinner tonight...)

This is the initial thought I was responding to. In any case, even if all other Cosmere humans are all directly or indirectly patterned off of Yolish humans, I would still expect that said Yolish humans would be as diverse a bunch as real life humanity. But I don't want to sidetrack the conversation.

I'm a little late to the party, but I thought it might be worth saying. Perhaps we are reading too much into ethnicity... people coming from Ashyn could be a wide and varied people. Indeed, I'd argue that they should be a widely varied people. I mean, we're all from the same planet, and just look how wonderfully varied we Earth humans are.

It might be fair to guess that at least there isn't a significant amount of crem dropped by the highstorms in Shinovar, or we wouldn't have deep soil and wide fields of grassland. I personally suspect that the lack of crem is part of the reason for a lack of visible spren. (I imagine it gives minor substance to their very limited physical aspects, and may be what Wyndle's vines crunble into).

Yeah, exactly. I don't know if I could be counted as being firmly in either camp. Vax could be a comet or strange traveling Realmatic phenomenon for all I know. Heck, given that this is fantasy, Vax could be a person and a planet at the same time.

Look, I wasn't asserting that there HAS to be a Tortured Past to get a cryptic. Only that there is probably a lot about the kid that we don't know.

FWIW when I've been confused after an accident, I called out to my husband very like that. You don't raise your voice when you expect the person you're asking for is right nearby. *shrug*

You at least noticed the same things I noticed, so there's that. I expect Trell and Nalt are both Bavadin. And the Trell from the Alloy of Law era is potentially another version of Trell, but still Bavadin. (But I sometimes don a crown of tinfoil and decide everyone's Bavadin... so maybe take my Bavadin identifications with a grain of salt?) IT'S BAVADIN ALL THE WAY DOWN.

Maybe that's exactly it, though. Maybe he's not talking about what he's seeing, person or place. What if instead he's calling out to someone he trusts, depends on, or loves? What if he's calling out to someone who should be there?

I think you're onto the right angle, though. What was Ati seeing at that exact moment? I'm assuming he's seeing at least these things: * Scadrial's misty Cognitive Realm *Vin *Elend *Kelsier Additionally he may have noticed: * Sazed expanding to become everything * That Kelsier has recently been weeping A much further reach could be him somehow perceiving that Kelsier is not a normal Cognitive Shadow. At an even bigger stretch, maybe he could in some way perceive Kelsier's previous dunking in Dor/Connection Juice. That all being said, I don't know exactly what to make of it, but it helps me to lay it out, at least.

I was ready to be super skeptical, but you've made very good points. I hadn't even considered this, but it's an interesting idea for sure. The only other Order I could see him in, aside from Lightweavers, are the Stonewards. But the latter seems like it would be a little too on the nose, name-wise. In any case, thanks for sharing the theory!
-
Shallan would still have needed to speak personally profound truths as the ideals of her order. The first time around for her they were certainly different, but given how messed up her family was already, it's not too surprising that she had some. Another consideration is potentially tied to Fortune. For example, how Syl describes to Kaladin in OB how she knew of him before she met him.
-
This isn't a real theory. Rather, sort of a musing that I'd like to hear other thoughts on. [This is in reference to the WoB stating that Tien was on the way to becoming a Lightweaver.] We know that Cryptics are fascinated by lies, perhaps initially drawn to their prospective Radiants by them. Shallan has powerful personal truths to give Pattern. Hoid offers extremely juicy secrets. Elhokar, living in the shadow of two warlords and with a dangerous, corrupted spouse and volatile kingdom, well, it makes sense that he has deep lies and profound truths to admit. So what about Tien? Sweet, kind, joyful Tien. I imagine he was more aware of his family's situation than they maybe gave him credit for. But what sort of lie was he living that would have been strong enough to put him on the (admittedly aborted) path to being a Lightweaver? Just interested in hearing other thoughts and theories, crackpot or otherwise.

Manufacturing allomancers with a stamp and a spike
Corax replied to Extesian's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I stand by my discomforted fear. And my hiding over there. *hides again* -
Edit: What seemed at first like an opportunity to discuss oddball opinions about Cosmere stuff looks as if it instead becoming an opportunity to belittle people or be cruelly inflammatory. So I withdraw my participation in this thread.

Manufacturing allomancers with a stamp and a spike
Corax replied to Extesian's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Just to be clear... every time you take a power with hemalurgy, you're also murdering the person you took it from. So... yeah. Carry on. I'll just hide over here. *edges away nervously* -
I don't think that specific thing is hinted at anywhere in the books, but I really like the idea of an unwilling/accidental avatar. That could make for a very interesting and compelling story that I'd happily read from Brandon or as fan fiction somehow. So cool!

How many magic systems will there be in total?
Corax replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It's interesting that you mention taxonomy. I expect that, like real world taxons, Cosmere magic systems are likely to be a lot more blurry and imprecise than most people assume. Does the Old Magic count as a system at all? Are fabriels just a subset of surgebinding? If gem fabriels count as something seperate, what about allomantic fabriels (that I expect we'll see more of in later Mistborn eras); wouldn't those then count as a separate ststem? Do purelake fish count? The questions are rhetorical, though. I guess my point is that the number of magic systems will be inherently blurry, because Investature permeates the Cosmere in a fairly organic fashion, often without intentional Shardic design. -
I think you're probably right. If the parsh people had creepy red teeth, I feel like Brandon, via the human PoV characters, would certainly have noted it.
