  1. Renarin refers to Glys as "he." Eta: "'I thought it was me,' Renarin whispered. 'My mind. But Glys, he says...' Renarin blinked. 'Truthwatcher.'"
  2. I was thinking something along similar lines, except that my thought that Helleran never died in the first place, rather someone with his blade and plate died. If the Ghostbloods took the Shards back and gave them to someone else (necessitating someone else bonding the blade), it could have been any number of people that died at Kaladin’s hand.
  3. I disagree only because the books are written as if they were being as-best-as-possible translated to English. Furthermore, it seems like an odd thing for an author to do to name the god of a world to 'coincidentally' resemble that of another god on the same world. It’s of course possible that it's a red herring, but Brandon chose to name a god Domi on the world with the Shard Dominion. Eta: sorry for typos. Still phone-posting. I do understand the point you're making.
  4. It's an old set of religions and an older language... I suspect that Omi may have multiple meanings. In essence, you're both right. The Aon Omi (and thus Domi) is a reference to Dominion, but in a roundabout way. Since AonDor is of Aona, if she loved Skai it could make sense that her representations of his name or essence would be, in her mind or heart, synonymous with love. At least this is my pet theory. PS: please forgive typos, due to posting from my phone.
  5. Ooh, I hadn't even known that, I'll check it out. (After I finish going back over the Story of Derethil and the Wandersail to look for clues... >.>)
  6. I don't know, that seems to be exactly the point the Writer is trying to make to the Recipient. 'Odium is dangerous, why aren't you more active about this?'
  7. Please forgive my brief reply, but might Frost be the Shard who simply wishes to hide and survive? This corresponds with the statement by the Writer (presumably Hoid) of the Recipient's code of noninterference.
  8. So, this may be a ridiculous stretch, but do we know who, precisely, founded Vorinism? Because there's a fellow from another particularly vibrant planet who's name seems suspiciously similar. (Though, of course, it's probably just coincidence...) I'm speaking of Vo, the FIrst Returned. Hear me out: There seems to be a bit of history of interplay between Nalthis and Roshar, spanning centuries at least. Someone among the Five Scholars were at least aware of Shardblades. The monks of Austre seem to have a very similar style and some similar traditions to Vorinism's ardentia. (Though these could simply be following traditional monk-like themes). And finally, perfect pitch always seemed like a non sequitur among the abilities granted by advanced Heightenings. When I hear the phrase "Iridescent Tones" I first thought musical tones, not hues of color. Could this have some connection with cymatics? Pure tones to resonate holy symmetry? Eh, it's probably all the ramblings of a sleep-deprived lunatic, but I thought it would be fun to mention, at least!
  9. What if... crem is SPREN POOP?!

Actually, maybe it is. Interesting theory. You should post a topic about it...:0

  10. Amians/Kandra... is there something there? O.o

  11. I'll clarify some things I said in a little, 'cause I think I was misunderstood on a couple of questions... I have, Indeed Read White Sand, so I'd love to join that discussion. I'll concoct a better reply when I'm not just on my phone.
  12. Ooh, lessee: Reading / the peerless Cosmere books / awesome books / Cosmere / peerless the reading! Um... or... Pattern / of stories the spren and we desire / and lies / and desire we and spren / the stories of Pattern. (Translation: I totally want to know Patterns adventures in Sebarial's Warcamp!)
  13. I agree... furthermore, we're only seeing those Elantrians at their worst, and that gnawing adversity is one of the conflicts of the book. Raodin might not have liked Shaor when he saw her pre-Shaod, but that doesn't mean she wasn't utterly devoted to her mommy, or a puppy or something we never see.
  14. Aha! The perfect way to poke around ideas without having to read every dang thread on the forum first! Put on your aluminum foil hats and brace yourselves, because I've been making crackpot theories for ages and only recently got the nerve to join the forum. Even simply referring me to pertinent threads would be greatly appreciated. 1) Has anyone worked out any further information on the Ten Passions and their relation to Thaylen (and other) culture? And potential interconnection to Navani's emotion fabrial? For instance, Rysn swears "oh Craving Passion of Need." 2) Is there speculation on whether Justice was Splintered on Threnody? Is Bavadin's Shard is Schism? 3) If the Heralds that defected *are* the Unmade? (I don't recall either way if Brandon's said if they were originally human... if they weren't, that might be part of how Odium would be bound....) 4) Has anyone deconstructed what we can from the known Horneater words? 5) Is Frost mentioned in any published works? (I know nearly nothing of him). Or is he only really in Dragonsteel? 6) Has anyone else noticed the similarities in the Aons for Beauty, Flower and Endowment? Do we think other Shards are hidden in Aons? (Preservation=Edo, Ruin=Ire, Endowment=Eshe, Honor=Mai, Cultivation=Ial, Odium=Reo)? Maybe this is a stretch, but it's a fun one. Has it already been discussed? 7) Is it thought that Wyrn is a Sliver of Dominion? 8) What color do Aimians bleed? 9) Were there sapient spren before Honor was Splintered? 10) Do we know more about the Ten Fools than about Cabine and Eshu? 11) Do we know that the only Shards that were on Roshar were Honor, Cultivation and Odium? Or was there a fourth, 'native' Stard? 12) Is 'Taln' some poor guy that's channeling the actual Talenel still in Damnation by simply holding his blade? 13) Is there a known significance to spren's colors? 14) Is Cusicesh the Protector a giant rainspren? O.o 15) Do we know where the Iriali came from? 16) Do all Aimians, or at least Siah Aimians cast odd shadows, or is his Shadow's behavior similar to Jasnah's. I guess that's all off the top of my head. I know it's a huge splat of randomness, but I figure some things might at least have been already discussed somewhere in Forumland. Thanks, folks!
  15. So many threads... where is a newbie to start?

  16. Not a Sliver, I agree, but perhaps a Splinter's influence? It wouldn't be unfeasible for Cultivation to split off a Splinter of herself the way Endowment split off Splinters as Divine Breath. Hoid seems like the most obvious choice, but I can't help wanting to figure out how in Damnation Tvlakv fits into things, so he's one of my conspiracy favorites.
  17. Yes, exactly. Spren 'naturally' exist primarily in the Cognitive Realm, and it is extremely taxing for them to transfer themselves to be more in the physical realm, as Syl, Pattern, and Wyndle have all expressed. I think that while all things exist in all three realms, moving your consciousness from one to the next is harder than just changing your focus, so to speak. I suspect that to remain 'in' the Physical Realm, the Nahal spren usually have to have a bond to anchor them there, or at least to maintain their intelligence.
  18. I don't have enough caffeine in me to cite things usefully, but my understanding is that it depends on how the spren 'dies.' Nahal-bound spren are sort of calcified when 'killed' by broken vows. They can be revived if the vows are resworn, but are effectively dead otherwise. Most of the 'normal' shardblades floating around out there are sort of zombified. Otherwise, spren can be killed by other spren, and probably other ways, and we don't know what happens then. The other thing that spren consider 'dead' seems to be to lose the sense of self. That's what happened to Syl. She became as the primordial spren—wind spren—relatively mindless and lacking true personhood. That is death to a Nahal spren. (Of course, this is primarily speculation on my part. Whee, speculation!)
  19. Thank you. Honestly it's a poor read on my part... I somehow missed that it was a post from August of last year rather than this year. I feel very foolish.
  20. I'm late to the party and new to the forum, but what about Tvlakv as the aforementioned wanderer? Of the new Knights Radiant, he's had at least three of them in that wagon of his. If there was ever a wanderer who was moving pieces around Roshar, it's him.
  21. Neither are these gummy fish, but that's not stopping me! >.> I think you must be biased: you're clearly pro-stick, so your faction is probably threatened by other poking implements. And also thanks for the welcome.
  22. But... it tastes Harmonious!
  23. I have, but only in passing; I haven't listened to their stuff yet. The common raven is one of my favorite animals due to their cleverness, so the name is in reference to the species name (and also indirectly to the White Wolf Games character type, because I'm a huge dork). Eta: And thank you!
  24. Eating a spike wouldn't be very useful unless I could burn it... or unless it perforated my intestines or something. O.o But, um... yay, cookies?
  25. Well, hi! I've been lurking and poking around the Coppermind and some of the forums for years now, but I've finally built up enough tinfoil* hat theories that I couldn't bear to keep them to myself any longer, so I finally made an account. Please don't eat me! Hopefully, I'll be able to actually make it to the San Francisco signing in October, so that makes me cool enough to hang out with you guys... right? Right? Anyhow, hello to all, and apologies in advance for the insane conspiracy theories I'll undoubtedly spout! -Jen [Corax] *Perhaps I should be using an aluminium foil hat, given the setting...
