  1. Maxal: "We are all different individuals here and we are not all going to enjoy the same arcs. The Stormlight Archive also happens to be a multi-POV epic fantasy story: not everyone will enjoy reading the same characters. Kaladin is a character who has had more exposure than others, it is justified for many readers to wish for a change." I wholly disagree. I enjoy every chapter. Even if that character enrages me. Dont get why you think you are better equipped to write this epic fantasy, go ahead, give it a shot. Ill give you some futuresight. NONE of you are. "I would however prefer if people chose to voice their opinion without seeing the need to be condescending. Simply because an individual did not personally experienced depression does not remove him from the right to comment on a character in a book. It could be they don't understand, as you say, but personally attacking the individual is not going to help. Explaining things, calmly without resorting to personal attacks however may help understand, but if someone genuinely does not enjoy reading Kaladin, then it belongs to him (or her). Agree to disagree then." I dont agree. If a large group of people, who are completely ignorant of a subject, choose to display their ignorance, Im going to kick their legs out from under them(metaphorically speaking of course). Why should I not voice my opinion because it a little more passionate than someone else's? That makes no sense. Logically, I have more of a right to comment on a on something Ive persoanlly experienced (not slavery and my brothers death, but serious depression that doesnt stop or go away), than someone who has ZERO experience, and no knowledge on the subject. I wont apologize for my passion. But I am sorry you mistook it for anger. "Also if a poster attacks, unjustly, your favorite character, the best approach is to try to explain the character better, to help them find an angle where they will enjoy this character more, not say their cold reaction to this character story arc is unwarranted and ridiculous. It also does not justify personal attacks against this poster. Worst, do not correlate this individual's reaction to real life individuals thinking this poster is out to create prejudice against them or you personally." Honestly, I dont want them to understand the chatacter better. It's a fictional toon. I want them to understand their ignorance of the subject better. And to be perfectly honest, I may have had passion behind my words, but I felt I explained Kals position well enpugh for anyone to comprehend. About not taking it personally, and how I shouldn't think the poster is being prejudice towards people suffering from severe depression, well I simply dont agree with that either. They may not KNOW, or FEEL like they are engendering ignorance toward the condition, BUT THEY ARE. It encourages others to feel its okay to make ignorant remarks as well. We've seen this throughout history if you need evidence of it. "In other words, ranting against a character is one thing, ranting against a real human being who hides behind a pseudonym of whom you know next to nothing of is another one entirely." I agree, ranting against a character is one thing (utterly POINTLESS). Arguing against a pseudonym of a person I know next to nothing about, excpet the exact subject they have DISPLAYED OPENLY their ignorance towards, IS another (worthwhile, imo). Edit** I also do agree tht Kal shouldnt constantly be the main focus, but not because hes depressed. But because I want MORE toons!
  2. Well, true, it does come off as kinda d*ckish . But the comment about Kal being mopey, and Shallan willfully trying to block out anything that may make her uncomfotable,is true. My ridicule algorithms kick in when she starts making little hand signs to ward off evil when Jasnah talks about the almighty not being real
  3. Yeah, everyone has said what I wanted to say, in regards to defending Kal. I, personally, am someone who has suffered clinical depression since I was 8 years old. Didnt get any medication for it for a long time, til about 16, when sh*t got real, real bad. I dont understand how people dont get that depression doesnt just GO AWAY BECAUSE YOU YOU WON SOME FIGHTS! Ive won a lot of fights, and yes, you get a temporary burst of endorphins and dopamine, it doesnt last. And soon again comes the deep depression, which effects EVERY SINGLE THOUGHT YOU HAVE! It effects every single decision you make. It guides every action you take! Just because your sad, doesnt mean you know what deep depression feels like. Stop acting like you do. Kal is a fantastic toon. He represents what you will never understand. He has EVERY reason to act the wat he does. And I applaud a character who shows correct signs of depression, and doesnt just get over it because SOME good things happened to him. I completely relate to how he feels when he is incapable of feeling happy. The chemicle imbalance in his brain WONT ALLOW IT! The OP shows his complete ignorance of this. Sorry, but I feel very close to this. EDIT: People need to understand, that asserting someone is lacking in understanding and knowledge (aka Ignorant) on a subject, is not an attack on their personal character. Thank you.

  5. But, in the Vorin religion, isnt it seen as a bad thing, what is happening to Kal, Shallan, Renarin? ESPECIALLY to Renarin. I mean hearing screaming in your mind when you hold a blade you've been wanting to weild for a long time(dont meana specific blade), like his soldier brother, would seem like you were going insane. And we dont know if his spren was communicating, and explaining, what was happening to him. I just dont think he didnt tell anyone because of Adolin. I dont think its a simple as hes thinks he crazy either. *He's not a stupid person, and he has to be piecing it together, bit by bit. Maybe he consulted Ardents(thats me now ). If he did, I doubt he did it frequently, considering he would be seen as asking about futuresight, which is seen as very evil in Vorinism. So he would be battling with the whole, " Am I going crazy, or is this all really happening to me?' So it does play a part I think. The big thing that stopped him was the whole seeing the future thing, in which Vorinism says is a skill of the Voidbringers. Basically as simple as that, I think. EDIT*
  6. Huh. Im lacking, because I didnt know that. So yeah, maybe if, say, Shallan gets knocked up by Kal or Adolin, is on Sel somehow in some future book (or maybe is in Sels Cognitive realm for some reason). Maybe shes running & trying to hide, idk. BOOM! Baby time! What would tht child be able to do with tht greater amount of Investiture, and like you pointed out, what would be its focus? Hmm.I have to think on this.
  7. Haha watch it be something like Ted. Or Nick. Dave lol. Oh man I would love it.Okay now this is just getting annoying. How is anything I said above worthy of a downvote. I have a feeling I know who it is. Stop abusing the downvote.
  8. This is awesome. I never even noticed Felt, in either book! Thats a good find there man.
  9. Possibly. I was thinking the painspren were there because of Jasnah and the pain she felt from the stabbey stabbey cut cut performed on her chest. BUT (!), then I remembered that there was a ship full of people in the Physical realm attracting those pain spren to Jasnahs location in Shadesmar. So yes, it doesnt mean they can sense it in the Cognitive realm. But I bet they can sense life. And Jasnah is still in the same position as the boat, where they are being attracted to. So Im gusessing, do to Ivorys reaction, that they arent simply going to ignore her. I think they were attracted to the pain of the people on the ship, but will sense Jasnah, and will attack her over feeding off of the pain caused by the people in the Phys realm. I presume, due to Ivorys reaction, tht they will cause the pain so they can feed off of it. Maybe pain caused in the Cognitive realm has a different effect for them. Stronger. A direct connection to the source, if you would. Just an idea, but Ivory was pretty freaked. If you couldnt tell, Im basing this all off of Ivorys reactions.
  10. Yeah, I agree, Odium is too obvious as well. But both Bavadin & Odium are extremely obvious choices. I would really like it to be a new Shard, but the majority is probably right on this one. Meaning Bavadin is most likely the Shard who was effecting Bleeder
  11. Yeah I wasnt sure if, say, Denth and Tonk-Fah were spiked, would Ruin be able to effect them on another Invested Shardworld? But thinking about Bleeder being driven to obey whatever intent/mandate from whatever god-metal she was spiked with, makes me think he could have effected Denth & Tonk-Fah for sure on Nalthis. If they got their spikes from Scadrial tht is. But maybe they are from another Shardworld, such as Roshar, like Supernile said. I mean Brandon did say that its highly unlikely tht someone from another Shardworld could return. But highly unlikely doesnt mean impossible. So maybe Denth is the possibilty manifested. I doubt it since he was one of the 5 Scholars (it was 5, right?) and him & his SISTER were friends with Vasher from who knows when. Probably for a long, long time before the Manywar. And he makes no insinuations about Denth or his sister being from anywhere bit Nalthis. But man it would be awesome to have a novella about Denth and his sister world hopping somehow. Finding Nalthis. Learning about Breath. Obtaining breath. And then they both die doing something insanely heroic. And are BOTH Returned. Then the book ends when they meet Vasher as Returned. I would not hate that book at all. -Yodel
  12. Ah I see. That makes sense. Thank you for the speedy answer.
  13. I think the whole Bavadin & Autonamy thing is a misdirection tactic used by Brandon. The information came out way too close to the release of SoS (IIRC). So obviously people would link the new god-metal in SoS with Autonamy(Bavadin. It is Bavadin, right? If not, this whole theory needs to be thrown out with the bathwater
  14. Ivory tells Jasnah that, in Shadesmar, pain spren are VERY dangerous.
  15. I think thats exactly what Hoid does. Jasnahs spren, Ivory, talks about junctions ( was tht the word they used? Cant remember. Please correct me if not). And Hoid knows EXACTLY where Jasnah is going to emerge from Shadesmar. He didnt know the EXACT time, but he knew the place for sure. So, I assume Hoid can sense these junctions, and uses them to world hop. Maybe he has some deal with the Highspren. Idk.About the whole birth in the cognitive realm. IIRC,there is no stormlight in Shadesmar ex: -Shallan runs out of SL and cant get more while shes half and half, physical realm and cognitive realm(again IIRC. Gonna have to read it again) Now, with all that said, I would guess that since there is no Stormight in the Cognitive realm, there would be no Mists, or Breaths either ( meaning if the birth happened in Scadrials Cog. Realm, or Nalthis', they wouldnt be able to take in the Investiture of those worlds. But who knows, maybe they would gain some other ability that is related to the Cognitive realm, and not the Physical realm. Definitely would be awesome.
  16. I think Brandon was trying (succefully it seems) to throw a curve ball at you guys. The release of SoS and the announcement tht Bavadin is Autonomy seems too fishy to me. I think he did it to throw people off, honestly. My evidence is this: In SoS, the chapter during the party at the Mayors mansion, when wax is listening to Bleeder taunt him, and hes trying to find her, she specifically says "Free will is an illusion." Why would a supposed agent of Autonomy, something that supposedly values freedom and freewill above all else, say that there is no such thing as free will? To me, tht screams out that its not Autonomy. My guess would be Odium, but that just seems too easy as well. And we really dont know enough about any other shards intent to succesfully match it with Bleeders actions. Again, to me, Autonomy seemed like a plant by Brandon to throw people off the trail. But, I could easily be wrong. I see now why you guys like creating theories.
  17. Oh dont get me wrong Yata ( by the way, your english has improved alot. Good job man). Dont confuse me LIKING the theory as me thinking its right. I just think it'd be awesome if Tonk-Fah was just a sociopath who got a spike.(I dont know if having a spike would make you a crazy killer or not. Since Ruin is paired with Preservation and Ati is dead, and he was the one corrupting those with spikes, I'd assume, currently, that thts not the case anymore) I doubt, since I've read above that Warbreaker runs concurrently with Mistborn era 1, that Ruin (Ati) could speak into a spiked persons mind on a different shardworld. So yeah, I dont think Ruin is currently effecting Tonk-Fah or Denth on Nalthis, since Endowment is there. And who knows if Ruins effects can last without him actively corrupting them (meaning they would have to be on Scadrial for a while for Ruin to corrupt them). I mean Vin wasnt corrupted by Ruin, and she had a spike (earing) in A LOT. So maybe Denth spent a good amount of time on Scadrial learning about Allomancy, Feruchemy, and Hemalurgy. Maybe he became obessed with Hemalurgy, giving Ruin the time and the means to corrupt him. In conclusion, do I like this theory? Yes. Do I think its a possible plotline for Warbreaker (or other novels) sequal? Highly unlikely. Still cool as hell though. Ninja out!
  18. I really like the theory. But I think Denths speed can be explained by the returned being able to morph their bodies. So, say, if he wanted to be faster, grow more fast twitch muscle tendons, which would allow you to react much, much faster. As for Tonk-Fah, your evidence is pretty damnation solid. Maybe Denth took him to Scadrial after he went and discovered you can steal abilities with a simple spike through the right place in the body. I mean, like you said, Denth is an expert on Investiture. I see no reason why he couldnt have discovered world-hopping during the Manywar. All in all, I really like this theory. Hopefully Brandon does expand upon it, since Tonk-Fah did survive and escaped (Vasher thinks) to Pahn-Kahl, with Jewels and Clod (Arsteel). Cannot wait for the sequal.
  19. From the impression I got, they are armbands. Round the bicep I'm pretty sure. By the way, the 'spoiler chapters' are just the chapters talked about in the above synopsis. Only one real spoiler in them, and we pretty much knew it was bound to be in this book. *Edit: Splellin Airors
  20. Wow that is a serious blunder. Good thing I only read Tors chapter releases.
  21. Pretty sure if you took a worldhopper from Roshar, put em on Scadrial, and had them enter Shadesmar, they would be able to talk to the spirit of the object(spren) just like on Roshar. Just because they dont manifest in the Physical realm the same way as on Roshar, doesnt mean it cant work in the same way. And like Morzathoth said, the Mists are the investiture (spren), metal is the focus(gemhearts).
  22. Nah. I agree with Wax. Screw Harmony. Its takes something extremely manipulative and cold to set up Wax with Lessie/Bleeder so he could accomplish his own ends. It shows his complete lack of trust in Wax. And by only giving Wax very miniscule tidbits about the cluprit, while knowing exactly who it was and how they felt and were thinking, shows that, to Harmony, the ends justify the means. Poor Sazed.
  23. Thats exactly what I got from it. He probably figured he was going crazy. And with everyone already thinking his father was losing his mind, probably didnt want to lend any credence to the allegations. I dont think it had anything to do with Adolin. More with the whole futuresight and a little creature following you and talking to you, that nobody else can see.
  24. Well he did also say that in the later books, when its all tied up, it wont matter which ending you've read. Honestly, I want to see Szeth redeemed. And I don't know the problem with the magic system tht severing Szeths soul, and bringing him back with a regrowth fabrial would have caused. So Im gonna assume, since I've thoroughly enjoyed all of his earlier work, that Brandon knows what he is doing.
  25. ONE PUUUUNCH! Who would win, OPM or Talenelat? Hell OPM vs any Herald would be a good fight.
