Pattern and Stick

My opinion is influenced by white sand. I think Nale initially opposed the idea of Surgebinders because it would be messy and chaotic for these powerful people to go flying around everywhere. But if they're put into an organization like the Knights Radiant, they can be regulated and enforce rules to make sure they don't get out of control.

He didn't actually say that the sixteen were the opposing force, only that they could have been. Meaning there could still be a separate "devil-like" entity that opposes Adonalsium out there. Now, I don't believe that to be true, but it would be bad to just assume it isn't.

[OB] What are Honorblades made out of?
CalaCrisp88 replied to Ashspren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Personally, I've started calling Tanavium, because it sounds like a more wieldly name. I doubt all of the god metals would actually include the shardholder's full name, because then we'd end up with things like Uli Daium (Ulidium sounds better imo). Of course, we do have some pretty awkward names in real life (like praseodymium), so I guess it doesn't really matter- 19 replies

[OB] Ideas on how to eliminate the Fused problem
CalaCrisp88 replied to Gasper's topic in Stormlight Archive
I believe it's yugioh, lol -
The very definition of cultivate is to "foster the growth" of something, not the destruction of it. We also have WoB that "Cultivation is about growing". https://wob.coppermind.net/events/189/#e4034 Also, "Ruin would be most compatible with Cultivation", (implied) because their intents complement each other. Ruin's about entropy, deterioration, so logically Cultivation is ultimately about improvement. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/186/#e4130

[OB] Autonomy’s Avatar Is the Third Sibling!
CalaCrisp88 replied to Confused's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't dislike this theory, but it seems unlikely simply because SA is supposed to be fairly self-contained, and I don't think he'd introduce a new shard to the series like that. -
Disagree. Cultivation's change is ultimately positive, just willing to make sacrifices that result in a greater good. Willing to burn away portions of the field that will fertilize the soil for those that remain. A combo of Cultivation and Ruin would probably be more general Change.

I used to be an Elsecaller and now I'm a Truthwatcher. We switched places Personally I still identify more as an Elsecaller though.
-
It'd be "brightlord". Brightlord Sword. Lol.

The dead go to the Beyond, not the Spiritual Realm. And I guess it could be Evi, and Odium is just confused as to why she didn't go Beyond/how she returned from Beyond.

He has said that Adonalsium could have split up into different shards, so ingenuity isn't necessarily going to be a canon shard in the Cosmere storyline.

[OB] - The Cosmeric implications of Oathbringer's ending
CalaCrisp88 replied to rdog2213's topic in Stormlight Archive
I thought it was confirmed that the "force" that "opposed Adonalsium" was simply the people who Shattered it. Edit: Found the wob I was thinking of https://wob.coppermind.net/events/10-calamity-chicago-signing/#e6551 So, not exactly *confirmed*. But heavily implied.- 69 replies

When Shallan pieces together Kabsal's death
CalaCrisp88 replied to Fifth of Daybreak's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Jasnah really suspected there was poison in the jam. She may not have intended to eat any of it, but she probably thought that Shallan would try it. She soulcast away the "poison" in the jam so that Shallan wouldn't die when she ate it. She knew there was the possibility of poison in the bread, so she soulcast it before she ate it herself. But there wasn't any easy way to soulcast the bread without looking super suspicious. With the jam, as you said, Jasnah was "curious about the scent" because it was so exotic, so it was at least somewhat reasonable that she took some and sniffed it. There was no reason for her to grab the whole loaf of bread though, especially since she didn't plan on eating any of it. The bread didn't appear unusual in any way, so if she'd picked it up and examined it, it probably would have tipped Kabsal off that Jasnah suspected an assassination attempt. That's my opinion, anyway.- 32 replies

I'd like to add that the red constellation is a pretty likely candidate. It's visible from multiple shardworlds so it'd probably have a pretty large CR area. I think there was some theorizing about its significance a while back, and this may answer part of that question if it's true.

Doesn't hemalurgy require contact with blood? So unfortunately I don't think @Oversleep's idea of spiking the planet would work
-
Well, for one thing, Cultivation is still alive and well.

I agree his language sounds Hawaiian. I don't know why I've always thought of his voice weirdly though haha

I've always imagined Lopen like that Latino guy in Antman. Rock sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger or something.

Tien's rocks are something more?
CalaCrisp88 replied to StormblessDave's topic in Stormlight Archive
Could it have been a really small Cryptic or something? It was blending but the water ruined its camouflage? I dunno. I do feel like there's something more to Tien and his tendencies. -
F-tin sight is zoom? I thought it was different. When Sazed and Marsh were together (I think it was conventical of seran or something), Sazed says his tin sight would make it easier to see in very dim light, although couldn't see in there because there was no light at all. It doesn't seem like a zoom would help him see like that. Or did you mean a zoom in addition to that?

I feel like Lovespren would be included in Passionspren.

This made me think of what kinds of crazy Resonances would occur as a result of having so many non-adjacent surges. Actually, would the Honorblades still give you Resonances, or only the Nahel bond? Edit, I should probably make a new topic later. Wouldn't want to derail this thread lol

Windshaper? Is that related to the Willrunners in any way? I got Elsecaller. I suppose it actually fits me really well. Great quiz!
