theory The Lord Ruler lost his powers when his bracers came off...
ParadoxicalZen replied to Kadrok's topic in Mistborn
Not to mention that Allomancy is an instinctive magic so i expect him to have at least done something as a reaction. -
Marasi, the Trap: where do you store your metal?
ParadoxicalZen replied to Pechvarry's topic in Mistborn
Or at least highly resistant to it. I mean ingesting any metal flakes on Earth isn't particularly a good idea, but on Scadrial, perhaps their biological make-up allows for a delayed reaction to any negative effects -
Right, so this idea has been rattling around in the noggin for a while (and i haven't seen anything similar around) and i could use some help and other perspectives. So one thing has been bugging me about the pre-TFE Trelagism and post-FA Trellism; how on earth could such a huge deviation in doctrine happen in just a relatively small amount of time, especially when society was just re-forming, so they'd most likely be resistant to a change in belief structure with everything else around them being hectic. (this is up for debate but it isn't that relevant to the speculation idea). I reckon a force/person/organisation changed it for nefarious purposes. We know that Saze gave Spook all the information from his copperminds in the form of hundreds/thousands of books. We also know these books later became known as the Words of Founding but I've yet to find any reference as to what they are transcribed in or where they are primarily located (my personal headcanon is they are near Vin and Elend's statues in the Field of Rebirth and would be written in metal/stone but if some can either correct or corroborate, feel free). My idea is that, in time, the Words were transcribed into either stone/metal, mostly to officiate and commemorate them, like we do with memorial monuments and the like but, before they were done so, the words were changed before transcription. The reason i would go with metal is because Spook was the one that found out about that fact. The only person who would know the difference between the actual knowledge and the altered one would be Sazed but if they were to be transcribed in metal, Saze would be none the wiser. Now...as to who could/can/would do such a thing, well.. (This would be cleared up if could ask Brandon if the Words have been; a) transcribed in a central/localised space and; transcribed into metal at any point between HoA and AoL So yeah thoughts/ideas/critiques
-
I know they were books at the end of HoA but i can't seem to find any reference for Era 2. When i mean the Words in WaW, I mean the main Words located where Vin and Elend's statues are as I'm trying to account for the discrepancy between pre-TFE Trelagism and post-ascension Trellism as mentioned at the end of AoL by Miles. The only thing I can come up with is that as Saze wrote the original religion down in the books, but between then and WaW, something/someone changed the original writing before transcription into a centralised area. If the words were then written into metal by the Scadrians to officiate them, the only person who'd know the real truth would be Saze and as he can't read what is written in metal, he wouldn't be able to correct it, therefore whoever did it would be duping most of the scadrian population. I'm having trouble remembering but did Saze teach of Trelagism to anyone else apart from Vin? I thought he did to Kelsier but my kindle version says otherwise

I was just under the impression that if it was likely Steris was gifted with any of the metallic arts, it probably would have been mentioned already.

Hmm, given that Brandon says in one of the tweet conversations, it seems like its just a fan's interpretation, albeit a very a nice one. I would have imagined it a lot more darker and spikier, given the atmosphere of mistborn, but hey still a pretty rad piece of work

Does she even have Feruchemical blood? I thought Lord Harms was only of Allomantic heritage o.O

Evidence Supporting Trell=Autonomy
ParadoxicalZen replied to KnightGradient's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I guess that's another thing with Intents, they can be interpreted in different ways depending on the person viewing them. I cannot wait for BoM to see how this is going to go down. Next week needs to hurry >.< -
Do we have any clarification on whether the Words of Founding are written in metal/stone/insert other material or that the Words of Founding are the written exactly as the same Words that Saze gave Spook at the end of HoA, as i'm under the impression that the Words were in bookform at the end of HoA?

Evidence Supporting Trell=Autonomy
ParadoxicalZen replied to KnightGradient's topic in Cosmere Discussion
But wouldn't Autonomy rather Harmony also be autonomous also? He's just come into his power as has no idea what to do with it. That's one thing i can't wrap my head around with that Intent. The desire to be autonomous and for others to be autonomous but will meddle heavily through direct/indirect means to stop someone else's meddling, (granted, the mind can still resist and act in counter to the Intent...) Realmatics, confusing as crem >.< makes my head spin -
Going with how English root words are pronounced/spoken/written using the near exact word template (Schematics, Thematics, etc) I would go Realm-atics, as most Cosmere savvy folk think of their reality in terms of the 3 realms

My only qualm (aside from my own ideas of what the sphere actually is) is how would Hoid known about the stone was dead? At what point would he have gotten so close to Gavilar that he would have seen the sphere as he only became Elhokar's Wit not that long ago. Granted, we know so little about before the assassination but still, food for thought. i like the idea though!

Evidence Supporting Trell=Autonomy
ParadoxicalZen replied to KnightGradient's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I wish i could believe Autonomy was involved somehow but with the way Saze has been acting in Era 2/WaW, including his own admittance about wanting Scadrial to be in a position where they don't need his help/manipulation to make their own decisions (autonomous), I just can't get on board -
The Unmade: Gods of both Parshendi and Shin
ParadoxicalZen replied to A Windspren's topic in Stormlight Archive
If i remember rightly, the impression was the Shin most likely worship the spren of the rocks, like when Kaladin, Tien and Hesina were discussing spren. This would corroborate with Dalinar's pure lake vision, where IIRC the unmade (whichever one it was) that was present touched the other spren and kind of corrupted it then it inhabited the Thunderclast. Although my memory's a little foggy on this exactly -
Not to mention that it might just be an earring she pierces herself with, not necessarily a power-granting spike.

[Speculations] Oathpact & Recreance
ParadoxicalZen replied to Rhaegar'Elin's topic in Stormlight Archive
Hmm, tablet error. I'll fix later. I wouldn't go so far as to call them liespren, as truthspren could equally apply. I think a more apt name would be perspectivespren/crypticspren/perceptionspren or something better, as truth and lies are all a matter of perspective to them, and aren't all tgat different, as demonstrated through shallan's PoV chapters. Moog, I just was confused as Brandon has sometimes mixed up answers/misheard questions so I was wondering if this was the case as he seemed to refer to the Radiants participating in the Oathpact, so I wondered if he had accidenbtally mixed them up -
The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon

When is Elantris 10th anniversary being released for the kindle in the UK? :\ much sads -
It could be when Saze fixed his savantness that he also rejuvenated him a little perhaps

I asked about this on the AMA and got a huuuuuge RAFO

Bands Of Mourning - meaning of the title.
ParadoxicalZen replied to Oversleep's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Don't we have a couple of WoBs, one regarding a child or partner possibly, and the other where he tried giving up the final empire? What if he lost this person and filled said bands as act of grief, then decided against it and hid them in case he needed a back up plan -
Ah but what about a cognitive sliver?

Might just be me nit-picking, but wouldn't he have just said non-harmonium? Or would that mean all of the spikes we know of associated with Harmony? I may have just confused myself even more but thanks for the WoB moogle!
-
I'd still say its either Harmonium or an alloy of it with one of the other metals, as I'd posit that it would do some funky stuff. Harmony wouldn't necessarily recognise something he's never seen before...but, I'm just gonna wait and see for BoM/TLM
