  1. Err... can anyone tell if this one is transcribed for the Dalinar flashback?
  2. Never read GRRM on purpose. Rothfuss, yes and that fat bastard needs to make move on given that he wrote the entire series ages ago and all he is doing is rewrites/revisions!!!
  3. Yeah... In between stormlight 2 and 3, BS completed the AoL books, edgedancer and couple of other novellas. stormlight 3 commenced early to mid 2015, so, including proofing and timing to suit publisher, 2.5 years is about right.
  4. I am not worried about Brandon's lifespan (May he have a long life). I am worried about mine! I'll be almost 70 by 2050, and that's the risky bit. My dad's hit 67, and he has survived the longest in my family from my dad's side. His brother went at 60 and grandparents didn't make 50/70. The only consoling factor is my grandparents on my mother's side fared much better. Grandfather still going strong at 88, mentally functioning well and grandmother lasted till 85. I'll go pop those vitamins now...
  5. Frankly, the best chances for movies are:- Legion Reckoners Perfect State White Sands Shadows of Silence (for a horror movie) Warbreaker Elantris (maybe) Rithamist Metal consumption and running low on particular metals is so hard to show on the screen. So, just doesn't work out. Stormlight - random spren appearances everywhere. How does one work them in. Just gets too complicated. I know some of the books above are not in cosmere or optioned.
  6. Great... now I don't have to buy the rest of the books, coz really, I know the end, eh?
  7. Spirit of the stones - sounds suspiciously like spren to me. Perhaps they are the only spren in Shinovar and are thus revered?
  8. That's an interesting quote you have, "The Voidbringers are no more, they had told him. The spirits of the stones themselves promised it. The powers of old are no more. The Knights Radiant are fallen. We are all that remains. All that remains. . . . Truthless. (I-10 WoR)" So, there were spren (unless spirit of the stones is another kind of entity) who advised that the Knights Radiants hadn't returned? Interesting why some spren would say so. Also, it puts paid to my theory on someone using the Truthwatcher honorblade. Clearly, there were spren who expressed that KR hadn't returned, which got taken as gospel. Also, interesting that he had gone to Urithiru after going away from the Shin. Now, Shinovar is at the opposite end from Urithiru, but close to Alethkar. Is it reasonable to assume that the Shin accessed Urithiru via the oathgate, and from there dispatched off Szeth at the next available opportunity? Otherwise, it is a fair way to make from Shinovar to Alethkar on foot or wagon!
  9. Please please, everything out before 2050.
  10. Cover art is like doing fan art and getting paid for it. Good job if you can get it and get paid enough for it
  11. Who knows... I used the the words "uncomfirmed but inferred" in the headline. I also used the words "might" rather than "will". So, I had more than one qualifier. I'll reword it to make it even more clear that this is not certain. But yeah, Shalladin sounds more like Bennifer, Brangelina or some other celeb couple name mix. So, curious that similar kind of labels used. But, I'll take your point and rephrase.
  12. I had spoilers tags in the title of the thread. Thanks for your tip on Amazon book preview - I've added it.
  13. OK, not sure with this one. "I had instruction"; Shouldn't it be "I had instructions" or "I had an instruction" or "I've had Instruction (capitalise to denote an individual)" or "I've had the instruction"? English is my 2nd language, so I just want to check
  14. OK guys, Here's a little summary I am pulling together based on what's been disclosed or can be clearly inferred about Oathbringer excluding any spoiler chapter releases. Kind of like a preview build:- Revealed confirmed elements Amazon Hardcover Link There will be a scene where Jasnah will be in a city which is under attack from a Thunderclast (see revealed cover here ) The book will have Dalinar as a key focus character and bondsmiths will be a focus. One scene will include his visit to the Nightwatcher. (Source) The book will feature Lift in a minor capacity. She will have some viewpoint chapters as well. The book will feature Nal/Nin but his attitude towards the surgebinders would have changed significantly by then (see Arcanum Unbounded). Nal is also using his own honorblade with an asterisk. (Source) Dalinar's wife's name is (Source) Gavilar was also on path to become a bondsmith (Source ) Vivienna might be looking for Vasher in Oathbringer (Source: WoB) Nal's Taravangian will have an interlude (source:?) Rysn will get an interlude (Source) Szeth has 6 chapters in the book, mostly in the last part Sigzil will get a viewpoint chapter (Source) 2 more veristatilians will appear in the next book (Source) Renarin is not healing others with his powers. He’s not really confident in his powers at all. He will develop that way more in book 3. Axies the Aimian is mentioned in Oathbringer, but not seen All the revealed chapters are linked here and the released chapters by Tor.com from Part 1 are linked here Unconfirmed but inferred facts This is a Jasnah chapter between WoR and Oathbringer (link) - uncertain if it will be included in Oathbringer or it is a standalone item like Edgedancer It's speculated that there might be some further developments involving Shallan and Kaladin (perhaps on a romantic/spark/etc). The exact nature of these scenes is uncertain. (Source: WoB) What other things can you add to the list? I want to build a compiled post here, and if you have anything particular, I can append it to the post to provide a compiled list. Revision: pdates from theoryland searches, added the bits from Supernova (Sydney), changed link to the spoiler chapters, Rysn interlude confirmation, bondsmiths book, , link to Jasnah chapter, reworded the Shalladin comment, added amazon preview
  15. I am guessing there would be visions of surgebinding, but yeah, it might be tricky for people to make sense of it (assuming someone wields it rather than it sitting in some Shin temple or stuck in the stone, Camelot style). Just the way to decide someone is so wrong to be given the punishment of truthless oathstone without evidence either way seems exceptionally harsh. And we still don't know how the Shin intended to or have been tracking Szeth.
  16. Still don't get why people would buy edgedancer solo if they can get Arcanum Unbounded. I am guessing they will include 5 or so of Oathbringer chapters to pull in committed
  17. I think it's an interesting area for several reasons:- How did Szeth decide that desolations were coming? Was he invested or did he see investiture before he became truthless? If the Shin had all the honorblades, then they should have a truthwatcher honorblade. Why wouldn't they just test it with that and pass judgement then? Perhaps the Shin chose not to use the truthwatcher honorblade, which seems possible (people can be obstinate). Truthless is such a strange punishment. Exile someone, sure. But, exile them with an honorblade and an oathstone requires a level of weirdness that's on another level. They would need to have evidence to believe that Szeth wouldn't throw the oathstone in the bin and run off. Some shin would need to go back and retrieve the honorblade on Szeth's death. That would again require knowledge of Szeth's death and knowledge of the location of honorblades. Again, the only things that can assist with that is a Truthwatcher honorblade or some kind of Alerter fabrial with massive investiture. Overall, the whole thing is a little mysterious. Then there was this quote in WoR about one of the heralds coming up with a way to preserve knowledge between desolations. Given that the Shin have honorblades, I had automatically assumed they must be keepers of the info.
  18. Well, Kaladin and Shallan fell into a chasm and survived due to surgebinding. I am assuming similarly Eshonai would have survived? But then, why did the rest of the stormform parshendi not survive (they are not there when Kaladin returns).
  19. Three things come to my mind when I think of Oathbringer. 1. Dalinar's previous shardblade, which Adolin threw away after killing Sadeus. As other mentioned, it might be about the history of it but also about the re discovery of the shardblade, Adolin's punishment and related consequences. 2. We might go further into the oathpact as well. What brought on the oathpact and what exactly was it. A book named oathbringer might also contain some clues as well! Perhaps a book that Shallan / Dalinar / Navani might read or focus on... 3. Dustbringers. Perhaps a red herring, but I've always been intrigued about the use of the word "bring" with oath. The releasers were often called dustbringers and I don't think we've seen any dustbringers with revealed abilities and so forth. That might change with the dustbringers revealing themselves and grabbing centrestage. Do we know what kind of spren oathbringer originally was? Entirely wild speulation with little basis but I am thinking it might have been a dustbringer spren originally. Also, Oathbringer the book was originally going to be Szeth's book and would have included a lot of stone shaman focus. However, it now being a Dalinar book, there might be a heavier focus on bondsmiths, but still the revelation of dustbringers and organisation of all types of surgebinders might be a central concept in the book. PS 100th post.. yay!
  20. Darth Vader incarnation? I had Ishar picked for that one after Edgedancer
  21. @maxal when I said on a platter like Ellend - even he had to go through death defying stuff in the well of ascension - My implication was the manufacturing of investiture in Ellend's case. Szeth's revival is also manufactured in that way. I am saying Adolin to me is likely to be set up for something. It might not be KR though. As BS introduced new character types in Edgedancer, I wonder if Adolin will become something else.
  22. Adolin's character gives me the same sense as Ellend Venture. Just ripe to be handed powers on a platter. Although, I think it might be using a different mechanism than the standard KR oaths (as I theorized above).
  23. THEORY: Taln is a title like "Herald of War". Different people assume the title in each desolation, if the old herald cannot return. Hence, all heralds have multiple names, e.g. Taln, Talenat'Elin, Naal, Nale, Nin, et al. It's not the same herald, but more like James 1, James 2 and so forth. Also, there is foreshadowing before the man calling himself "Taln" appears at the end of WoK. Hoid talks about the importance of coming first and how "his friend" is too late. Too late for what? You have to ask that. And my theory is that the man calling himself "Taln" is the second person to claim the title of "Taln". He may or may not have been the original "Taln" who was fulfilling the oathpact, but when he returned, he was the second person to call himself "Taln" and therefore not Taln, but just a man who called himself so. what do you guys think?
