  1. Well, this part was one that I felt like I had waited an age for. I remember reading Sabariel by Garth Nix in late 2000s, and some of the words were like jewels. I've been searching for similar ones, and barring words from The End by Lemony Snicket and Lois McMaster Bujold's Borders to Infinity, nothing had come close. Part 3 has those in multitude like a sea of beads. Kaladin's dialogue with Beard/Azure/Syl are some. Perhaps Azure (which I now realise might be Vivienna after reading this thread) is holding Taln's honorblade also has some gorgeous dialogue with Kaladin. Dalinar's dialogues with on his return from the ambush have the raw power the expansive description make the scenes more visually rich. There's more, but chapter 74, 75 and 76 are some of the most powerful chapters except the ending of Part 3. Elhokar's death is an unexpected blow and so is the capture of his son. This part has a Star Wars "The Empire Strikes Back" vibe. But god, it's been the best so far of the book. And loved Hoid in there. He was muted somewhat, but I think the whole of Part 3 was on such a high octave that there was very little space for even Wit to loosen up.
  2. Haven’t read the rest of the thread, so sorry if I am repeating. I can understand why @Chaos would have swore so much in his review. Here are some of the moments I swore at:- The moon... what the Greaves... what the Renarin - born unto ... what the Jasnah .... shut up with patronising Shallan as a “Child” Puuli (interlude 1)... what the Rock’s family... Awesome! Hoolio.... what the Lift.... what the Odium... what the Lift.... what the again!
  3. UK edition here - so no inside cover art (released a few days ago)... but definitely some of the pictures eg Roshar maps, historical maps, etc.
  4. KINDLE DOWNLOADED!!
  5. Hi guys - this is just a discussion on reactions to the audiobook. More for people who are ordering audiobook. Personally I'm getting both ebook and audiobook. I personally loved tWoK and WoR's audiobooks (and Edgedancer). My personal favourite audio scenes from them were:- Shallan's final scene with Tyn Shallan's scene with her father as flashback during the highstorm Shallan's confrontation of Jasnah in tWoK Kaladin's scene with Syl from tWoK where she appears in full woman's shape during their aborted escape attempt Lift's interlude in WoR Lift's scenes in Edgedancer with Szeth and the final scene with Arclo (Sleepless) Now, I do understand audiobooks are not for everyone. But for others who are working/busy or just enjoy audio it is a godsend to make their favourite books accessible. Note: People who would like to post that they don't like audiobooks or prefer written words - please avoid posting that in this thread. It is like saying some people don't like pink or blue. Totally redundant. Now that the Oathbringer audiobook is almost out (a few hours away on audible's pre-order page, what are your thoughts).
  6. Moash wasn’t broken by ambition but by a desire for revenge... but hey,.. who knows!
  7. Yup, ambition to be the queen... said it herself!
  8. I have never listened at more than 1x coz I like to hear the emotion in the voice... 1.5xor 2x makes the audio unnatural or unrealistic to my ears.
  9. Who is the traitor now?

  11. Spren following the sword? That’s a leap that I was not implying. Venli sees the spren... and spren can remain hidden. Hence the suggestion that there is a reason why Venli can see it.
  12. I saw it differently. Eshonai’s dead. But the radiant spren has now chosen Venli. I bet Venli will be seeing a lot of that other spren.
  13. Enough? GRRM’s A Dance With Dragons is 49 hours. Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire is 27.5 hours. A wise man’s fears (Kingkiller) is 42 hours. 55 hours, for someone who listens on the commute or while exercising, is huge.
  14. Yep... brandon’s books are now longer than Neal Stephenson’s tomes
  15. Can someone make it spoiler free or more of a teaser? And then post it as a sanitised version. I want to read another review but not spoilered.
  16. 1. Hoid receiving a formerly departed of the physical realm. The man called Taln and then Jasnah. 2. Sanderlanche (confirmed by reviews).
  17. Well, there was Kelsier... oh wait But we had Jasnah... but wait Vin, Ellend though... I am terrible at predicting BS, but look anything’s possible
  18. I am just speculating that Tertiary Character is going to get bladed at the end of part 2. This is perhaps the big thing that Tor review keeps talking about in the middle of the book bringing up their throats...
  19. What a classic scene! Shallan holding a cup of citrus tea with a blanket on, as Jasnah walks in.
  20. I am thinking a mixed set of 2 chapters, similar to WoR end where each chapter had multiple viewpoint split in sections. Kind of like a semi resolution into the next part.
  21. 63 percent clearly shows a surprisingly high percentage. Personally, I really like Legion and Perfect State a lot. The latter I thought has potential to be a full form novel.
  22. Well, Apocalypse Guard was a bit flawed anyway at concept stage. Steelheart started with such a cool concept that it dragged some of the unlikable bits under the carpet. A superhero intern turned world saver is just not going to appeal at the outset like the Steelheart one.
  23. Guys.. I'll update it when the final 2 chapters release, but here is the draft work! Oathbringer: Part 1 Parody Epigraph: I am not gonna tell you anything! Just gonna tease ya like Rothfuss’s next book’s release date! Na nana na NA! Renarin:…. Dalinar: I am confused, dunno what to do. The world is about to end. Hey Navani – Let us get married! Navani: Yeah, got nothing better to do anyway. Let’s do it! Stormfather: Hey, Hey! I’ll bring in the percussion! Got something groovy happening! Shallan: Hey Adolin! Let’s make babies! Pattern: Um, this is not an Orson Scott Card/GRRM book! That language is not allowed by Brandon! No mating! Adolin: Mumble mumble! Duh! Renarin: ….. [17 Sharders scurrying & speculating May Aladar is Vivienna] Kaladin: Hey, mum, dad and cute baby! How are ya! Dad: Cute baby is your bro. Can you stop playing with your little sword now? Kaladin: Hey miss! I am hot, radiant and interested in you. Wanna go on a date? Larel: Nah! Sorry mate, I got a fat bozo for a hubby. Much rather have him than you. Kaladin: Oww.. let me go and kick some chull by flying around then! Syl: Hey Kal! I see some parshmen. I can turn into a sword and you can whoop their backside! Kal: Nah! I’ve got this slave fetish/fantasy going – see those brands on my head? Guys – I surrender! Renarin:….. [17 Sharders discussing if another incidental character is Vivienna] Epigraph: I am not gonna tell you anything! Just gonna tease ya like Rothfuss’s next book’s release date! Na nana na NA! Taravangian: Hey Dally, wanna be pally? Dalinar: Jeez, that was a terrible line. Mr. T, you need to have your meds. Malata:….. Shallan: Guys guys. This ain’t WoT, and Brandon likes to keep his PoVs limited. So, I offer you – Shallan’s split personalities! Adolin: Mumble mumble! Duh! Renarin:….. [17 Sharders discussing if everyone in the book is Vivienna] Epigraph: I am not gonna tell you anything! Just gonna tease ya like Rothfuss’s next book’s release date! Na nana na NA! Shallan: Hey, I got it.. I am gonna head down the hole. But guess what. Adolin: Mumble mumble! Duh! Renarin:….. Shallan: Never mind. Just come along [Whoops midnight mother’s backside, but wimps out at the end, to keep the story going] Adolin: Mumble mumble! Duh! Renarin:….. Stormfather: OK folks. Time’s up. Part one is almost over and Brandon needs to move the story along. You know guys I really don’t like to tell you anything, but hey, tell you what. I can bring another person to have a look at the visions! Hey! Don’t get cross that I took almost the ENTIRE PART 1 and Words of Radiance to come up with the idea. BUT I’VE BEEN BUSY being a PAIN IN THE chull! [Random sprouts from 17 Sharders claiming themselves to be Vivienna]
  24. I think I am begining to get enough material now to do an Oathbringer Part 1 parody.
  25. I think he had book 2 from late Sep-Dec period. But you have to give him credit. Not many authors come out so quickly. Also, things have always slipped out, eg Oathbringer is a year later than what was originally envisaged, but it’s a lot faster than the likes of Rothfuss, etc. SA4 has already slipped from 2019 to 2020 and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is 2021.
