  1. err im wondering tho, the metal gets consumed as its burnt and your took the memories from your head and put them in the metal, you then burn the metal with your memories....they were already super clear anyway right, thats the whole point of a coppermind, im not sure how they could become clearer then before they were put in the coppermind. so then ye you either must relive the memories u put in there in some immersive way or just remember them forever after burning it?
  2. possibly that he is projecting them at the shard too, but that could easily mean nothing
  3. if a child was brought up for a year or so with one language, got the basics of it and all that and then due to some circumstances ends up in a different place learning a new language and speaking that for the next 40 years before becoming and awakener? would they have to relearn that original language they have never used again? and if not whats the cutoff point for it to be their native language?
  4. jordan first, got mistborn trilogy as a present and took over a month before i decided i could be bothered to try it (might never have happened if i did have an 8 hour train journey between uni and home and a distinct lack of things to do without internet! lol). kinda glad i did tho xD wok has replaced eye of the world as my new favourite book xD unfortunately i shall regret that day, when i finally picked up and read mistborn, for many years. if only i waited longer i wouldnt be sat here knowing its going to be sooo long before another book comes that will let me in a little more on the greater story :/ why must a great series take years to write and days to read :/ what an unbearable ratio! still this site now occupies far more of my time then i ever expected :/ never been on a book forum before this xD and what better books to have a forum on! makes it slightly easier to cope knowing even if i cant read more yet i can at least read people talking about it more!lol
  5. vin was also able to pierce copper clouds too, with a spike that was frequently removed. normal people burning bronze couldnt sense the well or piece copper clouds, what makes you think they could sense the shard?
  6. would make sense right....2 opposite shards with people made of both of them, when people had spikes stuck into them ruin could talk, when they allomancers preservation can! harmony i guess has very few problems in general with most things
  7. i thought ruin was fond of like atrophy ? if one were skilled enough with their hemalurgy then its possible that investiture can be stolen with only a loss to the power transfered (as in the charge in the spike is less than the charge the person had) ofc no matter the skill spiritwebs or snda or whatever it is that it takes must be pretty complicated and would probably mess up something else about them too as it rips it free! whether or not he hung around for the boring parts he has been turning up in funfun dangerous events for thousands of years! xD
  8. marsh was most probably a savant tho which i guess increased his strength or sensitivity to it, so power would most likely be an issue with it ye
  9. well being a bridgeman is a fairly dangerous job! gotta be some reason to do it! lol
  10. they can also sense the presence of shards right? teh spirits?
  11. hehe ye i know they arent technically immortal because they can die, but its a nice word and compared to folks like us they might as well be! lol when i said that before all i really meant in it was they stopped aging and could heal themselves (part from maybe hoid, dunno if he can heal himself! but i cant imagine him walking all over the cosmere for thousands of years without a couple of tricks to get himself out of trouble!
  12. that explanation works pretty well xD still one might expect a little variation in how many pop up in different areas, but then as well as that preservation could have easily just set it up to pick the top 16% or summit every time it finds a load of ppl inside it, alot of them too weak to have normally snapped, with a few even weaker ones that might have been picked in a different group.
  13. not to mention hoid and elantrians, loads of ways to get immortal and thats just the few we know of! and i think the have become something slightly different again, from the returned and normal awakeners, i mean they start with a normal breath of their own and its never consumed by any of their abilities it seems
  14. havent rly made up my mind on this one, but i think what he is getting at is for a genetically passed on ability that has been cultivated in the nobles and culled in the skaa is a little too evenly distributed for all of these people to have naturally been passed down their allomantic powers and hundreds of thousands of people just happen to go out into the mists at the right time with the right group. especially since he has been dead for thousands of years so not really able to influence and pick and choose every person to the right time/place. so because there should be more snapping in some populations and less in others which their isnt he is saying that they didnt necessarily have any significant allomantic power before entering the mists, however as the group entered them 16% where chosen and invested with that little extra preservation and snapped into their power there and then, not at their birth thru their descendants. well thats what i thought he was saying anyway but shards are powerful in ways we do not yet understand right, could be anything! xD
  15. then what do you believe would happen if you spiked some1s breath, stuck it in u and then awakened something that took them all, or gave them all away, or would you not be able to give them away or awaken? would be easier ways in the cosmere to go about not aging and staying healthy lol, because really...you would have removed all hemalurgic charge from it then right? also ye ofc it would need diff bindpoints if both can be done and ye i doubt all can be stolen at once, would jsut be too easy, but you also could not steal all of a returned awakeners connection with one spike, you would have to choose the splinter or their store of breaths, also i do not think you should discount the royal line, they have many of the powers of a returned without needing to die or constantly consume breaths...i dont think brandon really goes for exceptions to rules so i would figure what happens to them with their contact with the shard is as valid as what happens to any others. (still not slept yet sry if it makes no sense)
  16. well assuming it isnt talking about some1 irl lol if they are all written by the same person could make sense really, if they happened to be pretty much immortal and able to world hop, they start out finding out the basics as best they can, and the longer it goes on and they researching magic the more their understanding of it as a whole comes out, which would be why they become more detailed and including speculations about the cosmere not just the planet! seems likely there are at least elantrians in seventeeth shard and they are immortal and capable of world hopping! who knows how many others are :/
  17. i think its something extra as well as a part of themselves?
  18. being a misting is a different case to the standard person on scadrial then right? mistborn are rare as hell but that doesnt stop them entering the discussion as a rule not an exception :/ i dont see how an innate sdna connection to a shard is an exception to the rule :/ (one far more stable then mistborn too) but i kind of see what u mean. thing is how can a returned having a child do that? would it also happen if an awakener reached the 10th heightening and had some babies, would it have a similar effect? yes i know the returneds breaths are divine splinters and special and all that but if you are far above the 5th heightening surely your connection to endowment is pretty strong as well, more so then that of any normal returned right?). also i like satsuonis point about just having metal stuck in ur vital organs if you accidentally give your breaths away! it makes sense!
  19. isnt the breaths abit like hemalurgy anyway? transfering your connection to the shard or whatever to some1 else? just a more willing process. but some people are innately better at controling breaths (royal line) so could you steal their ability too? i mean it would make sense to steal that first, doesnt that come from an increased connection to endowment tho in their sdna? but it is different from having more breaths, just using them better, guess you could steal either depending on how u spiked em? not sure if that makes sense but its 5am and its what went thru my head!
  20. you wouldnt really be stealing breaths but the ability to hold and control them anyway right?
  21. surely tho if atium can be used in allomancy other bits of body of shards can be used in it too to do different things? even if it is only metals there is surely another shard with some kinda metalish body right? and what would u make a spike out of to steal breaths, would it just be atium? because atium can steal all of the allomantic powers used right ye? so i guess it could steal all of the other shards magic if used in the correct way? but if you could steal every power with just atium why would u even need a lerasium spike :/ also reckon it can be done without killing some1? cos that would be well more useful, in the long run.
  22. so if they got hold of some tears of edgli (supposing they are same thing but for endowment) reckon they could burn them too and do something weird?
  23. would lerasium work? being like the body of preservation? used in hemalurgy? if lerasium did work then could other shards body (or whatever it is :/) be used to make hemalurgic spikes too ?
  24. im sure that i saw a quote somewhere that nohadons book became the inspiration and guide for the knights radiant ? im not sure where tho so sry this is a kinda useless post but i think there is one somewhere!
