  1. The shards based humans on humans they had already seen (that's what they were before they picked up the shards right! So lots of shards all making life all over the cosmere, leras and ati ended up going to scadrial (possibly because they were so opposite they wanted to keep an eye om the other, maybe they were iust friends, ati was apparently a nice guy right) and then decided to make life (they both wanted it for different reasons). Leras doesn't want the life he has created to be destroyed and gives them more of himself in a crazy gamble. Not necessarily right after, but at some unknown point afterwards lerAs goes and traps ruin breaking their deal and setting up the well. This is because he wants to preserve life but he can't stop ruin as he is already too infected with the shards intent, however the well wasn't ever going to last forever, but it did provide a way to drain some of atis power making them equal again thousands of years later, whilst life on scadrial still had more Preservation then Ruin. This means when someone picks up the shard (vin) it's power can be used to destroy ati where leras could no longer do such a thing.
  2. I don't think coating it completely in anything would rly work? Even tho the metal would be inside you, you wouldn't be touching it in any way? Also ye lead is poisonous don't eat that rust
  3. jasnah believes that urithiru isnt in natanatan xD also apparently gavilar changed towards the end in a similar way to dalinar is now, he may have been on that path himself. they do seem extra honourable tho! xD

    Marsh

Don't quite a few inquisitors have the ability to burn atium anyway? It's not so big a stretch that marsh with over 20 spikes happened to pick up feruchemical atium too?
  5. The sdna isn't so much about the planet they come from but the shard who created/altered them (altho these shards do tend to hang out on specific planets from what we have seen!)
  6. Maybe it's because he is the only inquisitor who happens to be friends with everyone who may possibly work against ruin?
  7. Also isn't this abit extreme just to fly when you can control weight? Just make a pair of strap on wings (whilst being really light) and fly just like a large bird if u can't do it with allomancy
  8. Wait are you saying the feruchemist gains an acceleration of 21.7 meters a second by bringing a cannonball from above their head to their shoulder? Standing on the ground?
  9. I'm not sure you can say his existence goes against the magic system and the shard...he was made using 1000 breaths, he is more a part of the magic system and shards power then any other awakening right? Even more then most awakeners and returned....It's not his fault he draws loads of breath out of people how else is he gonna get the power to destroy evil! It might have something to do with how he was imagined destorying evil as he was given the command and to carry that out he uses the breaths supplied by the user as he can't use his own! He is just misunderstood Edit:returned consume breaths as well, just not at the same speed, but then they are made by endowment not a person so they might just be more efficient?
  10. One comment on this page was completel unjustified... Some people with an iq over 100 overuse ellipsis some times... :/ Also I agree with the guy...kings was awesome! It's epic in every way, better then mistborn(I kinda count all 3 as one) which was great but didn't hit me in quite the same way as kings... Or as eye of the world... But until kings came out that was my favourite book lol... Just to point out...I did really like mistborn just I guess he didn't have quite as much experience as he does now... plx don't hate me for believing kings is the better book...! And I was only agreeing with the fact kings is awesome...Brandon can take as much time as he wants when writing them just so long as they are finished when he releases them xD really annoys me when people ruin great ideas by rushing them too much... :/
  11. Hehe whilst the game was fun it did not really let you understand the story very easily, honestly until I read this book I had no real idea what it or the cutscenes were about lol but then that's just how the sacrifice feels! The book was a nice introduction into a large world that clearly will take explaining exploring and more to understand hehe. I generally prefer longer books but If it explained Everything I guess that may just ruin the game lol. I don't know how much of the story was Brandon and how much was already there before he joined them but it is put together really nicely and was fun to read (well I only bought it a couple of hours ago lol so didn't put it down much!). The only thing about it I do not really like is (typical Brandon Sanderson in my opinion) it gives you soooo many more questions then answers, at the same time this is one of the things I love about his writing :/ the story is alot more obvious then his other books but it is only a short book and it works well. Also most people here won't care about the price being avid readers! But £2 is rly nice for those of us that are poor! I would recommend it for a little light reading, mdefinately worth picking up (considering where I'm posting I'm guessing it will be most peoples style of book hehe). Edit: ah ye it really worked from siris' point of view as well (if you've played the game you understand as much as him, which is sweet f all), I do like how it all unfolded altho now I kinda wanna play the game to see what happens in it (guess that's the point lol) Edit edit: just wanted to put i rly enjoyed it too lol
  12. then what happened to the ones he got from gavilar and why doesnt elhokar lend them out to people dueling instead of the ones he uses which he doesnt like giving up?
  13. Well I'm quite sure dalinar says to adolin that he gave the first shards he won off the parshendi to elhokar as the king needed them but cant find it ATM will look later but they are described looking differently anyway Prologue - "an enormous Shardblade six feet long with a design along the blade like burning flame" Compared to Chapter 13 - "[sunraiser] was long and thin with a large crossguard and was etched up the sides with the ten fundamental glyphs." edit == got it chapter 18 - "Dalinar had won a Parshendi Shardblade and Plate during his first year here. He'd given both to Elhokar to award to a warrior he felt would be the most useful to Alethkar and the war effort."
  14. Little old but I couldn't help myself :/ I would want allomantic pewter and the mental speed, great for all situations! When u turn it on u might as well have atium!! Altho I would prefer the storing buning of Mental speed instead of pewter, let's be honest who doesn't want to be able to pull out the supergenius hat every now and then?? Also I it seems storing at burning at once should be possible, u can burn differed metals at the same time, u can control how much u fill them and feruchenical stores seem to feel like metal stores, multitasking isn't too hard just go and stick 2 bracelets in ur arm store on one burn the charge on the other then switch when u need to (altho to avoid wasting it you would need to spend long periods of time with a faster mind then normal or some serious supercomputer moments when u feel like it!
  15. I believe dalinar is on your side, but it seems like the other highprinces disagree, I don't think it's rly about the war for them it's about the competition!
  16. wouldnt it just be way more expensive to soulcast some quite large bridges when u can just replace them every once in a while if they get burnt rly cheaply comparatively? especially remembering soulcasting is heavily taxed by the king
  17. fair one but with all the hints in that short bit of writing the fish better turn out to be awesome
  18. i want some1 to ask if there is more about the fish then we give them credit or are they really just superstition :/
  19. Also on shallan, it appears some argue she is not on the path to becoming a kr because she is not v honourable, but she has tried to act honourable. There are huge sections related to morality for shallan, yes she is trying to steal a soulcaster but she is trying to save her family, in a similar way that jasnah went out looking to kill people, she was also looking to protect people who were being hurt by them (her lightning thing could easily be a part of her soulcasting just doing it with enough control to do it from a distance, especially as shadesmar doesn't seem to play by quite the same rules as physical realm but I digresss)
  20. Isn't it strongly implied in elantris that other people can use the dor without aons? Also did brandon say when he said commandments were the focus that it was the words or the visualisation that is the actual focus? Because words aren't needed for all commands... (10th heightening, and it still requires colour as fuel so it isn't quite like a mistborn being powered by preservation)
  21. ye i realised it was szeth who wrote it but i was referring to the time dalinar was thinking about what happened and if at that point he thought about who found the body first for hints about the shards
  22. Do we know why vashers name is something of a joke on his part? did brandon himself say nightblood corrupts the breath? black is a colour on nalthis and nightblood has no eyes so it could just be nightbloods instinctive use of the breath to destroy and his lack of colour sense?
  23. can any1 remember who first discovered gavilar dead? i remember something about him being found with writing next to him (unseemly that a man should write) and i think it might say who got to the body first (so hard looking thru book on phone for 1 line quotes im not even sure if i was dalinar or jasnah talking about it
  24. it seemeed like the KR who was healing was using a large gem instead of a fabrial, esp considering dalinar saw this and claimed they have no fabrials It seems likely that soulcasters which work do only require a tap on the gem to work, kabsal seems to believe this and he is a member of the only two groups we know to use soulcasters (ardentry and ghostbloods)and it is often hinted at before she learns this that they are much simpler then they appear. as the KR fell it would make sense for some people who are familiar with them but not part of the order (or stayed behind after all the others left or prepared before they did or even perhaps later someone just stumbled upon how to do it) to make a small number, perhaps left to the vorin religious leaders at the time or summit. The ability to soulcast seems rather important when the land almost everywhere is fill with rock and shells so they could have been left to those who would "use it right", since then the religion has gained large amounts of power then lost it, but still retain control over soulcasters and so maintain their position by not giving away the secrets and letting any1 use it(especially if they cannot make more which i do not know if they can). those like jasnah and shallan who have the ability themselves are unlikely to be common and likely want to keep it to themselves or die trying to figure it out (who knows what may have happened to shallan has jasnah not come picked her out of the sea of beads!) it seems unlikely that every ardent who uses a soulcaster has this ability and has kept it secret for thousands of years whilst constantly recruiting every person born who can do it! the fact that shallans doesnt work yet seemed to for her father could literally just be that the spren escape as it was cut, or something similar.
