  1. Granted. However, every time you attempt to do anything with your new PC they sit directly behind you, and tell you what you should be doing instead, until you stop using your PC. I wish for a magical table (5 ft long, 3.5 ft tall, and 5 ft wide) that can magically fold to be able to fit in my pocket, and be only a single pound when its folded.
  2. Favorite Magic System: Allomancy, because it's limitations allow for so much creativity in the user. Favorite Character: Elend, simply because his backstory and his mannerisms remind me of myself. Favorite Book Series: Mistborn(Era 1), because it has the most complete feeling of any book series I've read. All characters get an ending, and all problems(that we knew of) were resolved.
  3. Granted. since it's June, that may not work out so well, but your choice. As a bane, you no longer crave the taste of snow cones, and instead are craving dolla bills. As in you want to eat them compulsively. I wish to know why I wet the toothbrush before and after I put on toothpaste.
  4. Every order of the Knights Radiant has to be bound by oaths, right? In order to gain more power, they have to follow their orders' rules. Except the Lightweavers. The only oath they have to swear is the generic, albeit awesome "Life before Death" mantra. Basically, this gives the Lightweavers more power and freedom than any other Radiant, because they can choose whatever they want to do, so long as it fits the First Ideal. This is why Shallan has such a common and nasty habit of killing people in cold blood. Because she doesn't have to worry about 'remembering the forgotten' or some really cool thing. All she has to do is admit to her homicidal tendicies, and bingbangboom she gets a Shardblade. So I ask, why the disparity? Ishar forced the spren to bind themselves only to honorable individuals, but left out the one's nicknamed 'Liespren'. Why?
  5. Considering that Roshar is more advanced, people live longer, and ash doesn't choke the sky on a daily basis, I'll take my chances with darkeyes. Plus, there are chulls. I like chulls. Would you rather be bound by Harmony's complete lack of willpower, or Odium's complete lack of empathy?
  6. Granted. However, Shallan comes across you after being shipwrecked. And this time, its personal. I wish to be a Lurcher, as in the Misting who can burn Iron.
  7. Granted. However, you must first say "I wish" in a random language(dead or current) before each wish. The language changes for each wish, and you have no way to know which language it is. I wish for a Way of Kings TV series that rises above every one of my expectations for it, is entirely plot accurate, and is free on Netflix.
  8. Maybe the listeners didn't keep the power because they still didn't want to be controlled. Honor and Cultivation are still very similar to Odium, and it could be that they'd rather be mindless and free instead of serving 'good' gods. Remember, each Shard isn't really good or evil, and the listeners aren't the kind of people to honor huge pacts(see WoK prologue), and as for Cultivation, well, I got nothing.
  9. My favorite scenes are always when a proto-Radiant says an oath. Sanderson just builds those scenes up to be the most storming awesome moment in the entire book. And, of course, the character development is phenomenal in the way it lines up with the plot.
  10. Pain-diminsher, because nobody else would have a spanreed. Plus, smartphones sorta do the job better. Would you rather be a high-ranking obligator or a highprince's personal ardent(randomly chosen)?
  11. Granted. The chocpocalypse starts immediately, and 90% of the world is transformed into a chocolate starved Marasi. Good Luck. I wish for any phone I own to never run out of battery.
  12. Granted. Everyone in your country now sunburns really easily. I wish for highstorms to have been part of Earths' climate for the last billion years, and humans to still exist.
  13. Ok this theory is a bit weird. We know that Initiation is how you gain access to a magic system, and is generally in line with the Shards Intent. I.e. Snapping is by Preserving yourself, Hemalurgy needs you to Ruin yourself and another. If the Old Magic is what Nightwatcher does, then it's not one of the three or so magic systems on Roshar. Surgebinding is more or less a combo of Honor and Cultivation. The Initiation into it is by bonding symbiotically with something else, and binding yourself to certain Ideals. The Old Magic is gained by, asking for it? Cultivation seems to be giving a little, and taking a little. That's evident in the effect, but not the Initiation. Thus, I theorize the Old Magic is alien. As in, the Old Magic's origin is not native to Roshar. Endowment is the only possible candidate I've come up with, except giving someone something and asking for something are distinct. Welp I've rambled for three paragraphs, so have fun shooting this one down.
  14. Elends death has psychologically scarred me. Every time I reread the trilogy, I manage to convince myself that "This time he'll make it through. Something will be different." And I'm wrong every time. So yah, Elend.
  15. Taking into account their description as well as their actions, Odium feels like the far more likely candidate. The Skaze would want to control Scadrial, not cleanse it. Odium, however, has been doing an interstellar killing spree for a long time, and we have no idea how he splintered Devotion and Dominion. If I was a planet-hopping-god-serial killer I probably would want to take care of the guy who has twice my strength and controls the second coolest planet around. Plus, the Fakeless (badum tsssss) Immortals have red freaking eyes. Just like Svrakiss, who quite literally hated Jaddeth. Just like Voidbringers, who hate humans.
  16. Well that's because there was that big freeze(can't remember the name), and it actually was cold there. So because they were so cold, the Sovereign hands them some handy dandy medallions, and they start tapping and storing bronze like crazy. In fact, I'd bet their "fire mothers" have the opposite effect, where their bodies are used to being cold, so if they stopped storing then they'd be super hot. Its just they relied on the medallions too much, and now are always cold. Think about what would happen if Wax were constantly storing say, 50% of his weight. If her were to stop it, his body wouldn't understand what was going on, and I'd bet my spheres his bones' would be weaker.
  17. Don't have access to my home computer right now(its where I keep my memes) and don't have time to check this entire thread but just thought of something awesome. Kaladin- "Bridgemen! CANYAH SMEEEEELL! WHAT ROCK! IS COOKIN!" On a legitimate sidenote when reading SA Rock is The Rock.
  18. Well, the SoScadrians are almost constantly wearing those medallions right? What if they're all addicted to Feruchemical bronze, and don't have any homeostasis? I think I've mentioned this elsewhere, but it's the only theory that makes sense to me. Kind of like how Spook was mostly senseless when he stopped flaring tin, maybe they're all Feruchemical bronze savants, and screwed up their natural heating.
  19. Of course the Dark Alley got the Lord Mistborn involved. I mean, he's one of the greatest Hemalurgists Bakers throughout the modern Era! *ahem* Adolin- "Father, why is that guardsman boogieing down so well?" Dalinar- "I was hoping you'd notice that. He's Kaladancing." Adolin- "Where'd you find such a wonderful dancer?" Dalinar- *flashback to the day Kaladin break-danced to save Dalinar from an equally fresh Shardbearing Parshendi* "it doesn't matter."
  20. I'm personally leaning towards Kelsier. In every scene where he's not brooding, he's just so chipper and stuff that you can't help but laugh. Steris, in all her glory and obsessive nature, makes me laugh too. Probably because she's got a plan for everything, and I mean everything. She's like Batman but less scary.
  21. Khriss, in SH, dropped that Yolen was missing. If you were to look back towards the letter, you'd find the 17th Shard were after Hoid. I believe they want to find Yolen again. Why? Because they're chasing Hoid, a man who was born on Yolen, and knows how to communicate with people there. The main piece of evidence supporting this is the Letter itself, not its content. Frost, a dragon who is not a Worldhopper(by WoB), received and replied to the Letter. This implies that Hoid can deliver storming letters through the universe to a lost planet. The other piece of evidence is that Hoid is arguably the most experienced Worldhopper out there. I'm not arguing over whether or not Hoid can get to Yolen, but whether or not the 17th Shard thinks he can. Thoughts?
  22. In Elantris, a kindly, benevolent transformation drives Raoden to madness, forcing him to draw a really long line in some dirt. Somehow, this causes the whole chasm conundrum, crippling Elantrian society. Sarene is a sexist swordsman who arrives in Arelon to kill Raoden, only to serve Jaddith. Hrathen, meanwhile, is a hobo who keeps ranting about "demons" and "Svrakkiss" and something about "bones".
  23. Gotta love how out of 14 people, not one has voted Thunderclasts. Really shows our love of Vin & Kel.
  24. So, I was thinking about Stormlight and stuff, and I realized something horrifyingly logical; Shallan is going to die. As of right now, the most important main character to (actually)die is Tien or Gavilar, neither of which were alive during the actual time of the books. Going just by thematic ideas, a main character needs to actually die soon. Shallan is infiltrating the Ghostbloods, an incredibly intricate organization that most likely spans multiple planets. It is definitely dangerous, and they will definitely be prepared somehow for her. It isn't to weird to think they might ahve the best of her. Now, this is where we need to put on our aluminum hats. Shallan is stuck in a love triangle. Kaladin would be restrained by his sense of honor, and Adolin might get jealous of him if he found out. Shallan, being caught in the middle, would freak out. If she were to die however, before completing the triangle, they would both do something to further push them down the paths they've taken. Kaladin would try to protect her family, since he knows they'd be in danger, and Syl would want him to do that. Adolin, however, would descend into a murderous state. We've already seen him break the Codes to kill Sadeas, and if Shallan were to die, he'd go Batman on the Ghostbloods. No second chances for them. The main point of Shallans death would be to provide a uniting and conflicting force in "The Gang", but it would also establish the mortality of the Radiants, instead of letting us believe they're the demi-gods we've been led to believe. Now I hope to Harmony I'm wrong, I really do. But it makes way too much sense for me to not to share it. Odds are, I am wrong, and Shallan lives a full and healthy life. What do you guys think?
  25. Well, after researching minks, I'm now wondering how such an animal could have evolved naturally on Roshar. Considering that it's a mammal, the only place it could've come about naturally is Shinovar. I doubt that's the only conclusion. Nice catch.
