Ohmystorms peter commented on my post(play it cool). Thanks for commenting on my thread. I made a very fangirlish noise when I saw you had. So, can we make the assumption that Scadrial doesn't have any major differences in eye color. If so, then would it be because Ati and Leras didn't make it a gene, or is it deeper rooted in something else?(Nailed it now he won't think you're a nerd or something.)

I was talking to a friend about Cosmere characters, and their dahn/nahn if they were on Roshar, when I realized that I don't know what Vin's eyes look like. I can't remember any descriptions, and I leafed through TFE trying to find something. I also checked the coppermind, but I found jack. Also, can anybody remember anyone's eye color from Mistborn, anywhere? If not, is it because everybody has the same eye color?

I'm of a mind that Trell is either Autonomy, or a new radical thought. (straightens aluminum hat) What Shard(besides Ruin) would make use of Hemalurgy? Endowment. I know it doesn't really fit in with Paalms plan, but we have to keep in mind what we're told often throughout the book; she's crazy. Autonomy is the best candidate, but Endowment makes sense to me. Endowment would love Hemalurgy. It's very similar to Awakening, but you give greater gifts than Breath. Plus, equality seems to be its thing, since Awakening is usable by anyone. (takes off aluminum hat) Its probably Autonomy...

Rust and Ruin can I steel this picture? My mom always told me to Lerask permission before using something.

(Please note I actually really enjoy puns the rest of my post is pure fiction and sorry if I insulted anyone) I've been steeling myself to read through this, and boy did I laugh my brass off. The thread has a few more jokes we need to iron out, but I zinc it's going in a great direction. Although reading this left me a little Sazed, and many parts were far from Breezy. But overall, the mettle of these puns comes down to the audience, and I hope we can Vinish what we started.

Way of Kings Parody Summary

This man does the Almighty's work. Who the storms is leaving him at 228 rep? -
I just want to say nice find. Really, that made my day. I think Discord is Harmony's opposite Shard, after seeing a post about how to make Harmony's opposite. Right now, Harmony is made of two opposite Shards, and exaggerating their 'best' characteristics. Discord would simply display different characteristics from the Shards. Harmony is trying to get them to work together, Discord is trying to keep them apart.

Best Twinborn Combinations (Excluding Compounding)
KnightGradient replied to DeadFencer's topic in Mistborn
What about A-Bendalloy and F-Chromium? With it, you could be the ultimate gambler, creating a timebubble that would let you 'even' the odds a little, then turn it off and tap luck. Or A-Bendalloy and F-Copper. They should be called "Crammers", since they could study a whole book right before the test, then use their copperminds to hold it. A-Bendalloy is the most useful metal in my opinion, but steel compounders would destroy everything.- 111 replies

I've actually been considering the same thing, and I agree completely on Devotion and Dominion's metals. I don't think it'll be perfectly 1:1 matches, but its on the right line I think.

Wait Skai is a dude? I kept thinking Aona was the guy shardholder on Sel. -
Compounding. Arguably the most powerful powerset to have. With it, you can have limitless luck, strength, or life. But I've been pondering compounding in its relation to Hemalurgy. So I'll cut right to the chase; I think there is a different way to Compound with Allomancy. Feruchemical Compounding requires somebody born with both Allomancy and Feruchemy, and that they share at least one metal(i.e. Gold like Miles Hundredlives). They then burn a Feruchemical storage Allomantically, and gain the power tenfold(or something like that). Hemalurgic Compounding, the proposed one, is a lot more complicated. Lets say, grab an atium spike(preferably one small enough to swallow), and with it, stab poor old Coinshot Joe to steel(badum tssss) his power. Then, we grab a random pedestrian with no Allomantic heritage, and instead of stabbing them to make them Metalborn, have them ingest it, similar to lerasium, and burn it to become a Coinshot. Basically, a Hemalurgic spike would be identical to a lerasium-(random metal) alloy, in that it would grant you that Allomantic power. It also would insert itself into you sDNA, while spiking would insert itself into your Spiritweb, the difference being burning lerasium-(random metal) alloy makes it a genetic ability. The compounding part of this is, that if instead of a random pedestrian, we picked Coinshot Steve to have burn the spike. He would then have his power increased, similar to a Hemalurgic spike. I also believe that it would be multiplied, since Feruchemical Compounding does the same, meaning Coinshot Steve would be a lot stronger than two regular Coinshots. What are the benefits to burning the spike instead of sticking a bunch of metal in your flesh? 1. Harmony couldn't be messing with you(thoughtwise and such) in case you aren't religious. 2. It's a lot less conspicuous then metal spikes poking outside of your flesh. 3. More power to be gained if Allomantic heritage is present. 4. Requires less knowledge of Hemalurgy to work. So there it is! The simple and easy guide to becoming a Hemalurgic compounder. If this has been done before, I am not aware.

Ahhhhh. Thanks, I didn't know that.

I'm probably taking this too far, but next to Brandon Sanderson's portrait on the back of the paperback edition of SoS, it says "Nazrilof". Not knowing who it was, a quick google search took me to Nazh's page on the coppermind. Too much of a nerd? Yep.

In the prelude, Kalak thinks, "Almighty above." Why would a Herald, who supposedly knew Honor, worship him, even in his own thought? Am I missing something? At several points in the prelude, Kalak shows signs of belief in the Almighty. This bears a question; did the Heralds revere Tanavast as the Almighty, or did they see something else as their God?

Radiant pairs causing Stormlight to act differently?
KnightGradient replied to Landis963's topic in Stormlight Archive
I've been thinking about this exact thing for a while. You beat me to it though. I think a key clue is the differences between Shallan and Kaladin's reaction to holding in Stormlight. Kaladin notices how it pushes him to fight, to attack. Shallan remarks on how it makes her want to act and be proactive. Don't know what that says, but you're on to something Landis. -
Where's WalDo: The Kandra Worldhopper
KnightGradient replied to Kobold King's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Don't know if this has been brought up before, but what about Mrall? The Thaylen man Mr. T talks to in the WOR interlude? While rereading WoA, this quote caught my eye between TenSoon and Vin. Kandra can apparently change their mental states at will, if TenSoon is to be used as a standard. Kandra can pretend to be female or male, irregardless of their actual sex. Mrall plays a minor enough role to be unnoticed, but is allowed to determine whether or not Mr. T is fit to rule. Power, secrecy, and access to one of the most powerful men on Roshar? Seems like an ideal spot for a kandra. -
From what I can tell in the books, Rosharan astronomy isn't as important as it was on Earth. On Earth, astronomy was a major science when our lifespans were 25(Stonehenge is an example of this). On Earth, that was how you would know when winter was coming(Sorry I Starked out for a bit). On Roshar, seasons aren't very important, and highstorms are the most regular event, always ending the cycle with a long Weeping. So Roshar has medieval meteorology, instead of inventing the telescope. So, Rosharan astronomy is millenia behind Earth's.

If surgebinding is Cultivation and Honors magic, then would Voidbinding be Odium and Honor? Would the Old Magic be Cultivation and Odium? And if so, is there some magic that is Odium+Honor+Cultivation? That would be ultra rad.

Its from an in world book(Arts and Majesty or something like that) that says that women do the jobs that require one hand, men do the ones that require two. In WoR, they bring up horse riding, and I'd imagine it requires two hands. But, horses weren't well known, so women and men can do that job. Strange well for sexism to evolve, but its fascinating.

What Brandon Sanderson has taught us.
KnightGradient replied to Darkness Ascendant's topic in Stormlight Archive
For me, it was the idea that its not the destination that separates one from his peers. but the path to it. We all die, so to rise above others is to take the better road. To pave the way for others greatness. This idea is woven throughout both in-world and out-world WoK, alongside Words of Radiance. What I wouldn't give to meet Nohadon... -
Stormlight Archive Fantasy Casting
KnightGradient replied to DiscoDubber's topic in Stormlight Archive
He'd be 27, but the days are 20 hours(you can also take into account that the world has lower gravity, which means less wrinkles, but don't push that one too far). He's roughly 21 in the first book, and 22 or 23 by the end of WoR. If you ever need to calculate a characters age, multiply their in-book age by 1.141552511415525. So Adolin is 25 or 26, Shallan is 19, and Dalinar is almost 60. That should help you guys sort through actors better. -
Ok so I was doing a reread of WoR(for the twenty second time) and Kaladin was in the jail. (emphasis mine) Odds are everyone else here saw this in their first read through and are scoffing at my ignorance, but I'm pretty storming happy I caught this.

Storms. I kept hoping beyond all reason it was Stones Unhallowed, since by the end of WoR we're in Urithiru. But my second hope was Oathbringer, so yay I guess. But nice job getting that dude.

When did Shallan break(WOR spoilers)
KnightGradient replied to KnightGradient's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well that's a disturbing thought. Was it like some kind of initiation thing when Helaran had to kill Amaram, or did he already have the Skybreakers trust? -
She was able to summon Pattern as a Shardblade when she was 8. Kaladin had to swear three Ideals before he could do that with Syl. She had to break, and swear oaths before her mother went psycho. So, when, and how, did Shallan break?
