Shard of Really Cool Trains. You'd get invested whenever you saw a train(it has to be called a train in that society) and think "Golly, that's a really cool train." Those special few train fanatics rule the world... Shard of Coolness. You get invested by walking away from explosions, wearing sunglasses at night, and saying catchy one liners. Shard of Knockoff Brands. Similar to, but not the Shard of Closeness, people get invested whenever they eat Cinnamon Toast Squares. Cerealmancers are all-mighty, and giving them Froot Loops is like poison. Shard of Bad Puns. Whenever people make original jokes that aren't funny, they get invented. The magic revolves around making lightbulbs. Shard of Sorry That Was Bad. This Shard exists on the same world as the Shard of Bad Puns. Whenever people apologize for their jokes, they get invested. The magic system allows you to go back in time and slap yourself.

Plato, Spinoza and Jung’s Contributions to Realmatic Theory

I think the fact that you went to friggin Paradise Lost as a source is a monument to your dedication. Upvote because I find your theories comprehensive and well thought out. -

Granted. You can no longer see in the visible spectrum. I wish to get the wishes of the next four people, without their banes. -
So basically, you are saying that Stonewards would need to first understand atomic theory well enough to separate individual electrons, protons, and neutrons, then apply said trons to other atoms, on a MASSIVE level just because of how many atoms would be in the space required for a minigun, then harness even more electrons to fuel it, and finally, they have to know what a minigun is. If so, could they theoretically make shardplate?

Pro/Con list Live-Action v.s. Anime Live-Action Pros: Emotions would be better on real faces. Decent acting and special effects would elevate this option more. Cons: Whitewashing. Budget. Bad acting and special effects would destroy this option more. Anime Pros: Cheaper. Easier to create special effects. Could bring in a lot of readers if done right. Cons: Harder to show the emotions. Could alienate a lot of readers. So it seems to me after creating this list that Anime would be the safer option, but Live-Action would create a higher potential of quality. It really boils down to the budget provided, but if its relatively low go for Anime. Relatively high go for Live-Action.

Not sure if this has been posted somewhere else. Shinovar is a complete anomaly on Roshar. The Shin look completely different, and have completely different customs than the rest of Roshar. They're land is completely different, along with completely different animals than the rest of Roshar. Its also the most Earth-Like place in Roshar, with trees, dumb grass, and non-crustacean surface life. My theory: That Shinovar originated elsewhere. Remember that Shinovar is alien, secretive, and does not fit in with Rosharan society. Its a place where walking on stone is considered blasphemy. In Roshar. I don't know how it was transported, but my current theory, with absolutely no basis, is that it was the origin of humanity on Roshar, so Tanavast(Honor) and Cultivation could ease them into Roshar instead of deserting them on a place covered in storms and stone. The Shin that stayed behind stayed true to their original look, while elsewhere in Roshar humans evolved and changed. Also, could someone please explain Aimia? I haven't seen anything about it here, and it doesn't fit in with the main continent at all.

Granted, you will now be a slider that adjusts nose size in a character creation menu. I wish to be able to control Abrasion like an Edgedancer. -

Granted, but Odium will feel, odius(golly that boon was totally worth it) towards you specifically, and you only. I wish to be able to control other peoples minds. -

Granted, you are now a genie of infinite power forced to serve Odium forever. I wish to be able to create really good puns at will. -
So basically, you are saying Hoid=The Doctor? Probably not the best analogy, but they do both intervene quite a bit.

Dude, you're on fire. I think you have some really great points here, and your analysis of HoA's epigraphs is pretty darn rad. I think you are on the right lines(pun intended) with the whole, "Adolnasium shattered vertically, not horizontally", part. Nice work.

I've always liked the idea of numbered Shards, but I feel like there needs to be more examples shown throughout the Cosmere. Someone needs to ask Brandon.
-
I found the most intriguing part to be that the more often a Shards Intent is displayed across the Cosmere, the more powerful that Shard grows. Well done!

Storing Investiture + Worldhopping
KnightGradient replied to WayneSpren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't have enough hours on the forums to be correct on this, but worldhopping I think is mostly moving through Shadesmar(the Cognitive Realm) Since it only occupies areas with intelligence, and you could walk past the borders to another planet. But who says I'm right? -
Strange thing found in Warbreaker
KnightGradient replied to KnightGradient's topic in Cosmere Discussion
While that is true, I'm not sure I buy the idea of Brandon just putting that in accidentally, and I doubt if it wasn't accidental that it means nothing. But we can't rule that out yet. -
Does anyone remember when the king of Idris(don't have the book on me or else I'd name him) was all,"Hallandren, the place is a dragons nest!"? For some reason I feel the fact that there aren't any dragons on Nalthis(as far as we know) to be strange. Where did he get the idea of dragons from? Why did he know what they were? This is crazy speculation but I just can't stand the idea of him knowing what dragons are without Nalthians(?) being descended from the Yolish. I will try to find the quote later today sorry.

no but I remember reading somewhere that they were brothers, let me find the source...
-
First time posting a topic, so please don't Riot my fear of social interactions. What if, per se, we have been looking at Hoid the wrong way. If you dont want to read the entire thing, skip to the bolded paragraph. Everyone here(I spend TOO much time reading these forums) assumes the same thing about Hoid. that he is good. Personally, I don't really think he is good, just someone hell-bent on getting his goal accomplished, but trying to keep it quiet. The scene in WoK where he goes all "I would destroy your world to accomplish my goal, though I would weep" seems to suggest a more personal nature to his plans. I know Dragonsteel will tell us more, but I think that Hoid lost someone to the Shards. Maybe a love interest, or a brother. He is trying to go from Shardworld to Shardworld in attempts at locating who, and what, is responsible. Perhaps Hoid needs something that he wants, and maybe he is willing to do what he must to get it. That doesn't mean that he can't help everyone he meets, but those are his "side quests" so to speak. Evidence is simply this; Hoid is a deep, mysterious character, who sounds sad behind those blue eyes. Also, Hoid never jokes about Renarin, maybe because he can understand weakness, and knows that Renarin is a good person. Hoid also seems to be deeply invested in the worlds he visits, going as far as to "leave" a Lerasium bead at the WoA. Plus, Hoid has refused to reveal his goals, perhaps because he knows that some Shards are watching and aware of who he was. We know Dragonsteel will include all 16 original Shard-Holders, and that they at least knew each other. Rayse and Tanavast were brothers, and the other SH despised Rayse. Maybe Hoid is trying to re-unite his friends, which could explain why in the infamous letter there is no acknowledgement of Sazed by him. Because he doesn't care. Also could explain why he is on the run from the 17th Shard; because(maybe) the reformation of Adonalsium could destroy the SH. Hoid only wants his friends back, and does not think Adonalsium needs to be remade. As for his powers, it is probably because Adonalsium was more than the Shards. Perhaps Hoid absorbed the leftovers of Adonalsium, giving him the powers he would need to make it through the Cosmere. In short, Hoid is trying to accomplish a goal more personal than we would think. He wants to rescue his friends from Dragonsteel(or something similar), and will help those in the times between. Adonalsium was more than Shards, and Hoid got the leftovers, giving him his powers. Adonalsium's recreation would kill his friends, and himself, but the 17th Shard will do it.
