  1. I think I've seen that it's basically the sum of all the previous levels. So if it takes a total of 100,000 XP to go from 1-19, it'd take 100,000 more to reach level 20 (made up numbers). Haven't checked the math on that though. Edit: checked it. I'm level 20 now; it took me 210,000 total XP to get there, and level 21 requires 50,000 above that. So the above theory is definitely not true. jW
  2. It's possible she just intended to give that to your brother for some specific reason, and didn't realize you'd be hurt by taking it from you. It's hard to say, but that's one possibility that wouldn't need to hurt you even unintentionally. Definitely talk to her or your parents if you think you can. jW
  3. You can watch little catch up videos on the CW site, about 5 minutes per episode, that just give the important details, if you want to know what happened but don't care to spend the time watching the whole episodes. I did that with part of season 3 I couldn't find a good way to watch. EDIT: I don't know for sure if there's region limitations on that site, so it might not be available where everyone is. jW
  4. I can't find it now, but I believe there was a WoB saying that the Elantrian skin faded if they got far enough, which is why Galladon simply looked dark-skinned on Roshar (and he's bald, so no silvery hair, so we can't confirm that part). That part of their appearance may be from the Dor building up in them. I doubt they get much, if any, benefit like faster regeneration once they're far from Elantris too, and almost certainly not once they leave Sel. jW
  5. Why, though? The quote that @nervousnerd posted, from Szeth's POV, indicates the opposite. Do we know that Venli and Eshonai were the first to discover how to bond with a Voidspren? Perhaps there's another group of wild Parshendi living up in the area around Shinovar, and he stumbled across one with the red eyes and with Voidish powers. Perhaps he interpreted some star sign or something like that instead, according to whatever the Shin religion is. It's impossible to say without more information, but I'd be surprised if the original reason had to do with Surgebinding. The Shin simply seem to understand that the Knights Radiant will return when a Desolation is imminent, even though the Vorin Church has suppressed information about the Radiants in most of the rest of the world. jW
  6. Apparently a lot of names in Mistborn are based on French names, so yeah, that would be correct for Kelsier. I don't read it that way, though, I pronounce it like you do. Vin is often pronounced "Veen" by a lot of people, though I pronounce it like pin (but with the V). jW
  7. Conspicuous if you're seen, sure. But I'd bet there's at least some places he could go where he'd be able to just keep himself unnoticed and concealed, while still gathering information. EDIT: Besides, on another world people wouldn't understand the significance of the spikes. So while yes, it'd cause a huge stir and he'd definitely be noticed, it might not affect what he's trying to do in some places. jW
  8. I doubt many people, if any, have witnessed Marsh being benevolent. I suspect when he shows up, it's to kill or otherwise stop people who are doing things Harmony feels are worth shutting down, or that he feels are worth it. Speaking of which, why couldn't Marsh have provided a little backup to Wax and Wayne in their adventures? He barely factored in. Is he maybe not on Scadrial at the moment? jW
  9. That's an incredibly terrifying thought… jW
  10. Basically! jW
  11. As a reference for myself as I write this, and for others, this is from the Coppermind (you likely read this before posting your question): As it says, it's not really understood even within the Terris communities, and virtually unknown outside of them, except for in Southern Scadrial, where we only know they use it for the Bands. It's been theorized that tapping Identity could help you prevent or overcome magic systems that might alter something about you, like Soulforging, but considering I don't think we know of any that would be particularly prone to relying on your own Identity, it's hard to say. For now, I'd just say we don't really know what tapping Identity will do, or if storing has any benefit beyond creating unkeyed metalminds. jW
  12. Has Odium tried and failed to splinter any of the other Shards? Tanavast tells Dalinar through the visions to appoint a champion, because Odium will not want to risk defeat, as he has suffered so many times before. That could be a reference to the previous desolations, but it strikes me as possible that he also took on some other Shards and was thwarted. jW
  13. Hmm. I would say that yes, A is probably harder than B+C in that example, but maybe by only a small degree. I don't think Brandon's quotes are quite enough to be sure on it though. @tobar14, I don't think the blood is inherently a connection to the soul. Hemalurgy depends on it as part of that magic system, but someone just cutting a blood vessel obviously isn't going to also cut your soul. On Roshar, Shardbladea cut the soul seemingly where they intersect major nerves, or the core of a limb, but it's hard to be sure. The blood being the key is only true in Hemalurgy so far. jW
  14. Better than the real one around here: Something Fishy. I can't imagine eating at a place like that, I'd be super suspicious the whole time. jW
  15. Brandon's already said that the name Domi isn't related to Dominion. Devotion entirely separated from concepts like love would result in a religion wholly focused on absolute devotion to the person above you. Dominion is not domination either, but having control over a place or people, which Elantra typifies to an extreme degree. Again, I have come to believe that the religions can't be our basis for deciding any connections to the Shards, but let's make sure we're not making faulty assumptions just because that's how we've always perceived things. jW
  16. That can't be the only application of the term, though. Scadrians have Innate Investiture in them (their souls at least, and it seems to have been used for more than that), but they were literally created by Ruin and Preservation. All of their Investiture comes from those Shards, yet they're considered to have Innate Investiture. I would say it's simply Investiture that they have/possess simply by virtue of who or what they are (since it could apply to non-sapient/sentient creatures and things too, I think), and not by having any connection to a magic system or having gained it from another source. jW
  17. I would assume it's harder to push on a spike in a body than a spike out of the body, and both probably harder than pushng a piercing that isn't a spike. Remember that your blood and other physical parts of you are only really touching you physically. Magic that connects to both your physical and spiritual aspects (remember, the spiritual realm is where your "soul" is) would have a greater and more powerful Connection to you than something only touching you physically. Hemalurgic spikes touch your soul in a very direct way since they pierce it, and therefore would be incredibly hard to affect by magical means. We see that with TLR's spikes that he didn't think anyone would be able to affect and didn't even imagine Vin could push away, which she only did with the literal power of a god. jW
  18. I don't think either Shu-Korath or Shu-Dereth are directly worshipping either Shard by now. The Shards were shattered a good while before Elantris, from what I understand, and by that point in time the religions are no longer tied to either. I think it's an important thing to remember that Devotion is not necessarily a good Intent (removed from all other context, just like Ruin or Odium), and Dominion isn't necessarily bad either. Both, in the right or wrong situations, could have easily spawned good or bad religions, but more importantly, they don't have any influence over those religions now, if they ever did. I don't think using Shu-Korath or Shu-Dereth to figure out which Shard represents each is even relevant, even though I did bring them up in that topic. The Seons and Skaze, while they're connected to specific Shards, don't necessarily correspond to the Shardpools or even Elantris, though the Seons do seem draw to the city (though we only see that with Seons bonded to Elantrians, so that's hard to be sure about). Basically, Devotion and Dominion seem to have joined their power together more than other Shards anyways, and of course they're even more indistinct from each other now as the Dor, so we can't necessarily separate each religion or elements from those, apart from the Seons and Skaze, which are splinters created after the Shards were shattered, per WoB. I still hold to the idea that Shu-Dereth's basic principles are more aligned with Devotion than Dominion, when you view those intents apart from any other virtues that give it context, as Frost would say. I also still believe that the Shardpool outside Elantris is likely Dominion's, and Devotion's is probably where Jaddeth is suppose to arise, or perhaps over in MaiPon or somewhere unrelated to the Elantris storyline. jW
  19. Heh, I did one of those (I think there was an older one too): jW
  20. Ooh, I'm a Ferring now. No complaints there. EDIT: Can I be a Twinborn Tomato Sauce Misting and Ferring? jW
  21. My dad used to say "that's a real knee-slapper"…while slapping his elbow. Great physical sarcasm. jW
  22. We know that there is at least one kandra worldhopper out there, via WoB, though he also said we're not likely to be able to tell they're a kandra, so hunting seems to be futile so far (hasn't stopped anyone, though: Where's WalDo : The Kandra Worldhopper). I wouldn't be surprised if Harmony is trying to do just that, find out more information through his servants, since something is actively working to keep him uninformed, but the kandra might slip through undetected. I like this theory, and it'll be interesting to see if that plays into anything in The Lost Metal, or in Eras 3-4 of Mistborn. jW
  23. Yeah, or the other theory I've seen is that it may have been a Dawnshard, which were theorized to have created the cities that show the cymatic patterns. They may work using vibrations or something related to them. We still know next to nothing about the Dawnshards, so it's hard to say. jW
  24. Would a Feruchemical Steel Compounder end up aging faster if they use more speed than they store naturally? jW
  25. I like this theory a lot, especially taking into account @Spoolofwhool's idea that it only speeds you up in the Physical. That means your thoughts are running at "normal" speed, but since your body's not responding at the same speed, you only get a little bit of a bullet time effect as you perceive things quicker, and the slow thinking/processing when you're perceiving things much slower as you store. I think it's been brought up before, but we need to ask Brandon if using Steel Feruchemy regularly would cause someone to age faster. EDIT: Without compounding, though, I guess you wouldn't, since you're losing and then gaining back the same speed. End-neutral and all that. jW
