[SH spoilers] Kelsier and the 17th Shard
Patar replied to PadraicSeebrr's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Shouldn't this be moved the the Secret History thread? This contains some pretty major spoilers for Secret History. -

Chapter Four is (finally) finished! Hope you guys enjoy!
-
Just finished Monster, and I absolutely loved it. At times the pacing seemed a bit slow, but everything was tied together very well in the end. Johan Liebert may be one of the greatest and most horrifying villains of all time. Besides the pacing, I couldn't find to much to complain about. I also just finished One Punch Man (Yeah yeah, I know I'm late) and I enjoyed that quite a bit as well. In my opinion, it lives up to the hype. Now that I've finished those two, I was finally able to start Neon Genesis Evangelion. The animation style seems a bit dated, but that doesn't surprise me since the original air date was twenty years ago. But I'm willing to sit through it because I have heard nothing but good things about the story. Really glad I've started this one, I've been putting it off for long enough.

So I've been trying to find time to put my epics Peacegiver and Night Terror into Corvallis for a while now. I believe I've got their powers nailed down, and I've informed Comatose of what their weaknesses are. Unfortunately, I have no clear time frame of when I will begin writing with them. I had planned to have them in Corvallis already, but I've had some issues that have been outside of my control keeping me busy. I DO still plan on joining the craziness in the Reckoners RP, but I just don't know when (or if) I'll have the time. Just thought I'd give a little update on where I'm at.

New trailer released: I just... I can't even describe how I'm feeling. This was amazing. Nobody try and contact me March 18th-19th, I am going to be binge watching the hell out of this.

I honestly didn't know if I would survive until the end of the movie, I was laughing to much! I guess I was fortunate, there weren't any kids that seemed to young in the theater. Everything that Deadpool said was absolute comedy gold, although 95% of them I probably should not quote. I feel the need to mention how perfect Ryan Reynolds was for this role. You can tell he really cares about Deadpool as a character, he wanted to get him done right. And he did. Amazing movie, and I'm even more excited for the sequel, just so we can get some Deadpool/Cable interactions. The ONLY thing that disappointed me about the movie was the fact that there was no Wolverine cameo. I mean seriously, those two have the funniest moments together. But that's just a small complaint. Looking forward to seeing it again.

kissanime has been working perfectly for me.

What are you playing right now?
Patar replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Thanks for this! With the giant Steam sale I finally downloaded it, so I'll start playing this tomorrow. I'm sure your advice will help out a bunch! -
I don't know if this has been brought up before, but does anyone find Marsh's name a bit odd? Sure, there are other characters with odd names (Spook, Breeze) but those are crewmember names, not their actual real names. I also find it a bit odd that Marsh's mother would name him Marsh, while she named her younger son Kelsier, which at least in the Mistborn world, sounds a bit more normal. Maybe it's just an odd name choice, but could Marsh perhaps have ditched his real name when he began leading the skaa rebellion, and started using a nickname instead? Marsh just sounds suspiciously like a crewmember name along the lines of Spook, Breeze, and Clubs, and perhaps not his original name. Anyways, any thoughts?

[M:SH, BoM Spoilers] Theory: Survivorism and Scadrian Shades
Patar replied to AndrewStirlingMacDonald's topic in Mistborn
This makes a disturbing amount of sense, but I can't imagine that Sazed would be okay with it. Unless Kelsier found a work around, which I wouldn't put past him.- 5 replies

This makes sense. Perhaps the Stormfather (if it was him) sensed that something wasn't quite right with Hoid, and scared her away from him.

I had so much fun reading this. I had always been curious about Ati and Leras, so it was a joy seeing more of them. Finally learning why Kelsier and Hoid disliked each other was great. Seeing Kelsier again was wonderful, and I'm looking forward to seeing the trouble he causes in the future. A little while ago, in my signed Words of Radiance copy, I asked Brandon "Was the bad feeling Vin and Syl felt before meeting Hoid related?" The answer: I had asked this before we knew that Kelsier was the reason Vin avoided Hoid, but I wonder what the connection is.

Chapter Three is finished! Let me know what you guys think! My only concern so far is that my character's dialogue seems very... choppy. Any tips for improving it, or will it simply get better with practice? Hope you guys enjoy it!

That's exciting, I haven't been able to read Sixth of the Dusk or The Eleventh Metal yet. Thanks!

So I kind of feel a bit silly for asking this question, but does anybody know what will be in the novella collection released later this year? I know that we will have: 1. Mistborn Secret History 2. The Emperor's Soul 3. Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell 4. Sixth of the Dusk(?) 5. A cosmere star chart(?) Are these all included in it? And am I missing anything?

Random Stuff VI The Return of the Admins
Patar replied to Zathoth's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I'd love to meet y'all, but I seem to live in an area with relatively few sharders. And with college and a lack of money, travel would be somewhat difficult. But we'll see, you never really know with these kinds of things. -
In all honesty, I decided that it might not be the best idea to do so. It was fun the first time through, but I feel that if we were to do it again, it would feel to... same-y, if that makes any sense at all. I don't want to start another tournament if it's going to end up being a carbon copy of this one. That being said, if a bunch of people want to start another one, and it would be different enough from this one, I'd be all for it. My main problem with this tournament was that I hoped to discuss who out of two combatants would win in a fight, and how/why they would do so. In the beginning it worked well, but towards the end people simply casted their vote by simply saying who they wanted to win, and not give an explanation for why. It was a shame to have two amazing fighters such as Vin and Dalinar fight each other and provide so little discussion on why one would win. Granted, a few months have passed since the conclusion of this tournament, so there may be some new people who would want to try this. IF we were to start another one, I'd first off want to make sure people are okay with it happening again. We would need to make some changes to the way it worked so it wouldn't feel the same as the first one. I'd probably enforce a rule that said you must explain why you are voting for someone, and not simply say their name. But before we even start considering rules, I want to know for sure whether or not people would want to do this again. Thoughts?

So I was unaware that I should post a short scene of my epics using their powers in the Epics of Oregon thread. I didn't want to make a whole separate post for it, so I just edited it into the original post.

When the target is put into the trance, they don't necessarily have to be asleep, but it certainly helps. The more helpless the target is, the easier it is for them to be put into the trance. Being fatigued, distracted, or simply not in the right state of mind will enable them to be put into the trance easier.

So I've been considering adding a secondary power to my epics Peacegiver and Night Terror. What I have in mind is pretty much this: The two of them can make a person enter a "dreamlike" state. When Peacegiver creates the illusion, the target perceives themself to be in a permanent state of bliss. They have everything they want, and initially don't realize what is going on. They can escape the trance by realizing what is going on, and escaping from it. Night Terror's illusion works in a similar way, except his victims are trapped in a nonstop nightmare, and can only escape by conquering that nightmare. What do you guys think of this?

Hmm, PG-13 or lower. That's a bit tough for me, I tend to watch more mature anime. I began with Attack on Titan and Death Note (Attack on Titan is probably above PG-13). I loved them both at the time, but now that I've seen more, they are only average at best IMO. I do think that Death Note is a decent anime to start on, and it deals with some interesting themes, but there are better ones out there. Code Geass, despite being a bit overrated, is still probably one of my favorites of all time. If you want a shorter anime, I cannot recommend Zankyou no Terror (Terror in Resonance) enough. It tackles heavy themes, leaves you on the edge of your seat, and it's only eleven episodes long. I've also considered starting Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, since Morzathoth speaks so highly of it.

This has been dead for a bit, but I really want to show off this masterpiece I discovered. Space is so cool.
