  1. @Oversleep We have no way of knowing if the Heralds had "thousands of years" of experience before the epigraph with Ishar takes place. It's pretty clear from the books that the Heralds came first (first surgbinders came from spren figuring out what Honor did with the Heralds), but It's extremely vague about the length of the time gap there. Moreover, from what we've seen of Honorblades, they're weaker than the Nahel bond, not stronger. Even if the Ishar had thousands of years of experience, I highly doubt that would outweigh the increased stormlight efficiency of dozens (if not hundreds) of KR, especially considering the Windrunners, who gain enhanced battle capabilities from the Nahel Bond. "Slaughter the Radiants like sheep" is definitely a gross overstatement. The only way that Ishar would be able to back up the threat he made would be using either some Bondsmith-specific power to break their Nahel bonds, or some kind of special Herald power that we don't know about.

  3. Brandon has also hinted that we see Jezrien in WoK (source), but we've got no confirmation on the beggar Szeth sees being him.

  10. The third would be the best for me, but any day 2-4 would work out. I can't speak for the rest of my group at the moment, I'll try to contact people and see what works.

  12. @Sam Script I disagree. Do allomantic pushes/pulls invest the object they're pushing/pulling on? No, they target it. Does the investiture in an object still interfere with it being affected by allomancy? Yes. When Brandon says that magic systems "interfere with one another" that doesn't just mean that it's hard to invest an already invested object, but that it's hard to magically affect an invested object in any way.
  13. I'm sure people will be willing to chip in for food if necessary. Might even be able to make some Chouta and Dawnslight juice and bring it with us. (We've got recipes and have made Sanderson food before.)
  14. Any details for the next meeting? I've never come to a meeting but I casually mentioned that the club exists to a friend and now I've got 15-20 teenagers and college students who want to show up to the next meeting and expect me to know what's going on. Would there be any problems for bringing such a large (and very enthusiastic) group? It's okay if it's not going to work out.
  15. This. What would be extremely traumatic for one person can be difficult but not unheard of for someone else.
  16. The way things were described in the book led me to that conclusion. I guess I might be assuming that it's similar to stormlight/Feruchemical gold when it could be something else entirely.
  17. If an augur were to burn gold, and then worldhop to maipon and learn soulforgery, could they use the knowledge they gained from burning gold to forge themselves into their gold shadow? If they did that and then burned gold again, would the new gold shadow be their original self?
  18. I agree, it's just that an assumption has been made when there's no proof to back it up. The radiant's in Dalinar's vision were probably full strength, but hypothetically speaking, if a low-level radiant (say, Kaladin at end of WoK) were to break their oaths, then the spren wouldn't become a shardblade because it was never fully in the physcial realm. I expect you'd have a dead spren in the cognitive rather than a dead one in the physical.
  19. Warbreaker Spoilers:
  20. 16 x 16 is 256, which is only 1/4th of 1024 - the cycle of the WoA. As the OP noted, 16 is 2^4 and 1024 is 2^10. No combination of 16's I can whip up gives you 1024.
  21. I 'm not so sure that all dead spren turn into shardblades. If a radiant who isn't yet strong enough to summon a shardblade were to break his oaths (i.e. if kaladin didn't save Elhokar and speak the oaths at end of WoR) why would the dead spren get pulled into the physical? That just doesn't make sense to me.
  22. Lol, I just realized that my post about antgrgmn opening the floodgates resulted in the floodgates being opened on something else entirely. The irony is real. Never before have I so soundly derailed a thread . I'm proud of myself.
  23. I wasn't trying to imply that it was a negative. I meant it more as encouragement actually. By all means, keep convincing people. It was your arguments about the Adolin theory which convinced me back in my lurker days. People are interested; you're just a little more interested than most. Side note: I love the 17S for being one of the only places on the web where reasonable discussions can actually take place.
