  1. So, on the subject of Phantasm, is it plausible for him to have astral projection and hallucination powers? I want him to be a sort of mind-bending terror Epic, getting as close as possible to scaring people to death.
  2. Yes, thanks for this! This is what I was looking for. Now, time to create Phantasm. EDIT: Forgot to include this. I'm trying to make this guy as Epic as possible *badum tss*, so any input to help increase his coolness factor is much appreciated. As previously stated, he is a mental illusionist, and I'm collaborating with Bridge Boy and Paranoid King to bring Thoron, Phantasm, and Flashback into Astoria, with the latter two manipulating the former's desire to be a hero, possibly in a bid for control of Astoria. Which might actually require more power on Phantasm's part, though possibly not. What's T5, Voidus? EDIT EDIT: My initial idea of him leaned more toward hallucinations than illusions. Is that a separate classification, or are hallucinatory Epics a powerful subset of illusionists?
  3. Well, he'll have some partners in crime, so that's less of a concern. Normally he wouldn't participate in a fight directly, just interfere to help his allies, and possibly manifesting an illusion of himself. But here's what I'm really thinking about: I was wondering if it was plausible, since it's a mental illusionist and not a photon-manipulator, to have him affect other senses, thereby making it seem as if his illusions have substance by producing accompanying sound effects and touch.
  4. The plan is to make him extremely powerful. Powerful enough to survive in Astoria by making people think that he has a PI, while also just being very effective with his illusions in general.
  5. Yeah, my assumption that Scadrial had a moon confused the damnation out of me when I was reading Sazed's explanation of Trelagism. He talked about the thousand eyes of Trell being the stars, with the one eye of Nalt being the sun. But he never said a thing about a moon.
  6. Does anyone know how you would create a solid powerset for a mental illusionist? I'm trying to make one, but I want to avoid the god-like generalizations of "he can control every aspect of someone's senses" and other stuff like that. Are there any examples in the books, or any WoBs? Please and thank you.
  7. So, I'm going to pitch this idea for the basis of an Epic, and you guys can tell be whether it's completely unfeasible or only sort of unfeasible. I've been thinking about a guy that has dissociative identity disorder. The thing is, each of the personalities only has access to one of his powers. I haven't done too much planning yet, but maybe one of them has a PI power. I'm not sure if this is a good idea, and I really haven't gone too in-depth with it yet, so if it sounds impossible, then that's fine.
  8. Does anyone know when Mailliw is coming back? I forgot and I don't particularly want to hunt through the old question threads to find out.
  9. Well, the answer was a bit disappointing, but clarifying:
  10. Okay, I posted it. Now, is there any way to view my reply without scrolling through the entire list?
  11. I'm not familiar with Reddit, but there's a question I really want to ask: How do Allomancers 'sense' their metal reserves?
  12. I think that Kansas - Carry on Wayward Son is perfect for Kaladin. And even though this is a bit off-topic, I haven't found a thread like this in the Mistborn forum, so I'm just going to put this here.
  13. I think that Master of Puppets by Metallica is 100% perfect for Ruin. The lyrics fit his character, the properties of Ruin and Preservation, and even have some relevance to the context of Scadrial.
  14. Brandon is seriously the ultimate writer. There's hardly a single aspect of writing that anyone does better than him.
  15. Yeah, I had always just assumed that windspren were green, because I associate that color with wind more than I do with blue. Also, Kredik Shaw seems to be nothing like I imagined it. I thought it was literally just a grouping of spires sticking out of the ground at odd angles, and that there was no actual palace building. And no matter how much I try and convince myself otherwise, shardblades all just look like giant katanas. And now, for the weird one: Parshmen and Parshendi. I'm still not sure if I can picture them correctly. I'm sure that they're described in the books as almost identical to people, except for the skin. Well, due to an online RPG I played when I was a kid, my image of them was completely wrong from the get-go. The name 'Parshmen' sounded very similar to 'Zardmen' from the game, which were essentially just lizardmen. So, naturally, I immediately thought that the Parshmen and Parshendi were black-and-red-skinned half men, half lizards. Tied into that, of course, is that I only picture them as black and red. No white. Also, since I'm still not sure if there' an official picture lookalike or something, what do you guys think koloss look like?
  16. Yeah. I haven't really been following the Dalles all that well, which means that was about the second Arsenal post I've read. I wasn't really all that interested in him, but by the forgotten gods, that was an interesting post! EDIT (to avoid double post): Which thread do you think Punchline would be good in?
  17. Well, the first one would primarily be used as an offensive ability. The induced laughter is quite strong, so people have difficulty fighting him. Then he shoots them.
  18. Okay, new Epic idea. His name is Punchline. He has two powers. One, his primary, is that when he begins talking, anyone that can hear him begins to laugh uncontrollably. As he was a politician before Calamity, he hates this power for obvious reasons. The second, more for beefing him up than anything else, is that he is immune to any damage that can be caused by a punch (i.e. blunt trauma, cuts, friction). This, of course, means he can still be killed in a variety of ways. Whaddaya think?
  19. Hm. The only other term I could think of for that would be 'parallel existence,' I suppose, but that doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
  20. Yeah, they definitely would at least be in contact with each other.
  21. Oh! I thought you meant that there was already a character doing what he's doing. I can change the name.
