@Del-light-full Oh, I know about this new law our super stupid ruling party made. It's a total disaster, it's criticized by anyone with any reasonable education and it's diplomatic cataclysm like we've never had before since 1989... I obviously don't agree with this new law and hate the ruling party even more for trying to do something like that. (To be clear, this high up person that said such disgusting thing was our Prime Minister I'm ashamed of him) Poland has indeed a lot of antisemitic history and there's no denying that. During the communism period we also banished and stripped from citizenship many Jews. There is no denying that there was and still is a strong antisemitic factor in our community

Shamelesly necroing to show you this photos ^^ Usually it's hard to do a good photo of Henio in bright daylight, because of too much contrast between him and any background. Most of the time either he's a black cat-shaped-blob on the photo or it's him with extra-bright background. That's why I'm super proud of this photo ^^

Unfortunately, because we use PostgreSQL full text search feature, we have to deal with it's consequences. One such consequence is that there are words that get excluded from searching, because they're too common. A more or less accurate list of those words is here: https://gist.github.com/fnando/8999831. "Own" is on that list, that's why searching for hoid+own is equal to searching for "hoid". But if you try hoid+mansion, you'll get right what you need.

I think hiding your own posts is no longer available for regular users. There were couple cases of abuse regarding this feature. Now, reporting you own post is the way to go. And don't be afraid, there won't be any consequences for just sending a report

That would place fall of Athens somewhere near 15 000 BC, I think the events you mention took place around 500 BC? It's hard to say, if our culture is now stronger than ever. I think it might have been stronger in the past. It is for sure solid and strong. We have a very strong sens of identity, not only due to what happened in WW2, but also during the following Soviet occupation (they too tried to get rid of polish things). Poland as a country and nation has a very rich history of being oppressed. Before WW1 and WW2 there were Partitions of Poland which led to many years, when Poland wasn't present on the maps of Europe. Despite being divided between 3 occupying nations, our culture and national identity survived. Unfortunately, the ideology didn't die. There still are some small groups (recently getting louder and bigger), even in Poland, that for example celebrate Adolf Hitler's birthday. Same in other European countries, there are small groups of neo-nazis. Fortunately, they are always strongly opposed by the majority. All in all I liked your essay. It was well thought and provided relevant examples from the history. Very nice!
